Chapter 2 - Conscious

Huff, huff.huff

The breath caught in his throat. Inhaling felt impossible—like someone was choking him, or as if he were drowning underwater.

With effort, he finally opened his eyes…

He found himself in an unfamiliar place. Looking around, disoriented, he realized it was a room he didn't recognize.

"Where… am I?"

The first words escaped his mouth, dry and hoarse.

Suddenly, a glowing screen appeared before his eyes.

SYSTEM: "Host detected… consciousness restored. 55%..80..%

SYSTEM: "You have sinned. You do not remember. That is your curse."

Detective (confused, whispering): "...Who... who are you?"

SYSTEM: " CONCIOUSNESS RESTORED 100%"

SYSTEM: "To regain what was lost, and to pay for what was done—complete the redemption sequence."

SYSTEM: "Case One: The Girl in the Red Raincoat. Died

Location: Westbridge Alley,

TIME: 72 Hours / Solve The Case

Detective (frowning): "What the hell is this? A dream?"

SYSTEM: "You are a detective now. Solve it… or repeat everything."

A voice interrupted.

"Sir?"

It was Inspector Dayal, stepping inside with concern on his face.

"Are you feeling alright?"

He couldn't remember anything—not even his own name.

The only memory he had was of a child running toward a woman, calling her "Mother."

"Hmm… who— I mean, yes… Yes, I'm fine," he replied uncertainly.

""Where am I? And the more important question is—who am I?" Madhavan wondered. "Why don't I remember anything? What happened to me? And that screen... what does 'solve the case' mean? She called me 'Detective,' and that guy named Dayal also called me 'Detective Madhavan.' So, my name is Madhavan, and I'm a detective. But why can't I remember anything? Where are my memories?" he thought to himself.

Madhavan was lying in a hospital bed, completely clueless about what was happening around him. His mind was blank, filled with questions he couldn't answer. The doctor had just finished examining him and turned to Dayal.

"He's lost his memory," the doctor said calmly.

"What?" Dayal's eyes widened in shock. The man who once cracked impossible cases, his senior, his partner—now lay helpless in a hospital bed. It was unthinkable. This was the first time Dayal had ever seen Detective Madhavan like this.

"His memories have been erased," the doctor repeated, confirming the painful truth.

But there was no time to rest. Madhavan had to leave for Westbridge—there was a murder case waiting. A body to examine. A mystery that couldn't wait.

That night, without making a sound, Madhavan quietly slipped out of bed. His body still felt weak, but his determination was firm. Dayal was sleeping on the couch beside him, snoring lightly, unaware that his partner had already decided to act.

Madhavan walked down the street, barefoot and dazed, dressed only in his hospital gown. People stared at him with suspicion, some even stepping aside as if he were dangerous. Their eyes whispered what their lips didn't—"Is he mad?"

The city lights blurred around him, but one thing remained sharp—the voice in his head.

"Regain what you lost... and pay for what you've done. Solve it."

Those haunting words echoed in his mind like a broken record.

He scanned the road, desperately trying to wave down a taxi or cab, but none of them stopped. Drivers glanced at him once and quickly turned away. To them, he was just another unstable patient who had wandered out of a hospital.

Still, he kept walking—step by step—through the cold pavement, lost in the chaos of the city and the mystery of his own forgotten past.

He up in public bus " Brother, is this bus goes to Westbridge? " His trembling voice

Yes..come inside" the conductor replied him

As he sitted…His eyes started seeing something unusual…

SYSTEM: [LAST ADDRESS REVEALED]

Madhavan blinked as strange lines of data appeared before his eyes—hovering above the heads of people around him.

He could now read everyone's names... along with their last known address.

"A boy—came from the Graveyard. Looks sad."

"A woman—from the Department Store."

"Another—from his own company."

But then—his eyes caught something unusual.

"There's a cat outside the bus. Walking on the street..."

"Last address: Westbridge."

Madhavan's heart skipped a beat.

Without hesitation, he leaped from the moving bus—straight through the window. Passersby screamed, but he didn't stop. The cat darted ahead, slipping through crowds, fast and uncatchable. Madhavan ran after it, bare feet slamming against the cold concrete.

The cat turned sharply, vanishing into a dark alley.

He followed.

The chase led him away from the city lights—into a forgotten part of town. No people. No noise. Just eerie silence.

"Perfect place for a murder," Madhavan muttered under his breath.

His mind, though clouded with amnesia, worked like a machine. Calculating. Scanning. Observing.

He wasn't here for the cat anymore. He was here for her.

The Red Raincoat Girl.

A murder case waiting to be solved.

His eyes scanned the shadows until something caught his attention—up on the bridge.

There, unmoving.

The body hadn't fallen—it was placed on the bridge.

Madhavan ran.

And when he reached her, his breath caught.

A girl, around 22. Pale. Still. Soul long gone.

No signs of physical abuse. No signs of a struggle.

Just... clean. Cold. Precise.

An easy target.

Killed by someone who knew exactly what they were doing.
