**Treasure Battle: Round 1 (Part 2)**
Vivi clutched the treasure chest, racing toward her base. Despite the Lapahn and Sea Lapahn intrusion, no one blocked her path. Rounding a house corner, she spotted the port's ring. Placing the chest there would summon the ship—and victory. Seeing it, she hastened.
She hurled the chest into the ring. Instantly, a distant sailboat began moving. Eager for victory, Vivi watched it, urging it to hurry.
She knew she was the weakest of the four. Alvida's immunity to her attack confirmed it. But in this rule-bound fight, she could still aid Luffy. She just needed the ship to arrive.
"Luffy and Vivi's team grabs the chest first! Vivi's placed it!" Hatterly announced.
(*Hurry… hurry…!*) Vivi thought.
She stayed outside the ring to intercept enemies. Hearing faint footsteps, she spun around.
Alvida approached alone, unhurried, mace on her shoulder, exuding menace. Vivi realized she might be afraid.
As a Baroque Works agent, she'd fought and trained with Igaram to survive. But that experience didn't apply here. Alvida, a Devil Fruit user, was far more battle-hardened.
She knew how to strike foes, felt no remorse, and stayed calm. Her glossy smile never wavered. Reaching the pier, her mace scraped the ground.
"You can't beat me," Alvida said.
"What…?" Vivi replied.
"It's not about strength or weapons. We're fundamentally different."
The mace gouged the pier. Her slow walk intimidated, and Vivi couldn't move, sensing a critical gap.
"Scared to fight?" Alvida taunted.
"No! I'm ready to risk my life!" Vivi protested.
"Then why're you shaking?"
Vivi's right arm trembled. She hid it with her left.
Her unease was obvious. Alvida charged. She read Vivi's hesitation, exploiting her inexperience against stronger foes. Alvida, tempered by defeat to Luffy, knew her limits and gained mental fortitude.
Vivi froze as Alvida's mace swung upward. She saw it but couldn't move. The blow sent her crashing against the railing, blood seeping from her left arm and a cut on her forehead.
"Clean hit! Alvida's strike floors Vivi! Can she stand!?" Hatterly shouted.
"Vivi!?" Luffy yelled.
"No way, Vivi's not weak!" Usopp cried.
"Vivi-sama!" Igaram wailed.
The monitor captured every detail—Vivi's blood dripping, her collapse. Her crew, helpless, clenched their fists.
Alvida entered the ring, lifting the chest. The ship stopped instantly. If the chest wasn't grounded, the ship wouldn't move. Relieved, Alvida exited, glancing at Vivi struggling to rise, then quickened her pace.
"Skill doesn't ensure survival. That's for ring fights," Alvida said, walking past.
Vivi stood, lips tight, expression grim.
"Wait!" she shouted.
Alvida, chest in her left arm, turned with a smile.
"Not… lost yet…!" Vivi gasped.
"Sure. But that's all, right?" Alvida replied.
She didn't place the chest, aiming to unsettle Vivi. Her emotions were transparent, her focus shaken after seeing Luffy's strength. She lacked his resilience.
Alvida faced her calmly, while Vivi's anxious expression betrayed her.
"Alvida's stolen the chest! Vivi's desperate to stop her! Can the injured Vivi turn this around!?" Hatterly narrated.
"I have to win… no matter what!" Vivi declared.
"You're too tense. Can your body even move?" Alvida asked.
Not injury—tension stiffened Vivi's muscles, hindering her. Alvida saw it in her pale face yesterday. She wasn't a threat.
"I've gotten stronger! I can fight now!" Vivi insisted.
"Strength's useless if you can't use it," Alvida countered.
"Shut up!" Vivi snapped, spinning her Peacock Slasher.
"Slasher Shot!" A blade flew at Alvida, who didn't move, closing her eyes. It hit her chest but slipped off, harmless. Her ability was troublesome.
Undeterred, Vivi charged, equipping another Slasher on her right hand, then her left, spinning both for a stronger strike. She attacked head-on.
Alvida, holding the chest aloft, stood still, provoking Vivi. Retreating meant defeat. Vivi aimed to cut Alvida's skin.
"Zero Friction," Alvida said.
"Peacock Slasher!" Vivi shouted.
Both weapons struck, but slid off. Vivi's force unbalanced her, and she fell. Alvida walked on calmly.
"Ugh!?" Vivi grunted.
"My skin rejects friction. Try all you want—same result," Alvida said.
Vivi glared, standing. Alvida reached the grassy ground beyond the pier, near an empty house. Vivi chased.
Alvida turned, meeting her gaze. "That was a warning. Slipping on my skin makes you easy to hit. No next time."
"I just want to protect everyone!" Vivi cried.
She swung again. The blades slipped instantly, nearly toppling her. Alvida's mace struck, sending Vivi crashing through a house window, scattering objects. She lay limp, bleeding from her head, vision blurring.
"Brutal hit! Vivi's blasted into the house! Is she okay!?" Hatterly shouted.
"That was bad!" Usopp yelled.
"Hold on, Vivi!" Nami cried.
"Vivi-sama!" Igaram wailed.
Vivi heard nothing, feeling powerless. She'd never faced stronger foes. Protected by Igaram or Mr. 9, she'd been coddled, not a true pirate.
(*Frustrating…*) she thought, hating her ignorance more than Alvida's taunts. Why was she on the floor if she wanted to win? No tears came, only resolve.
(*I want to win…*)
She clenched her fist, unaware of her returning strength.
(*I'm their crewmate, even if not a real pirate. I won't drag them down or tarnish Luffy's name!*)
A door clicked. Alvida turned as Vivi emerged, bleeding, breathing heavily, but with fiercer eyes. Alvida's smile faded, respecting Vivi's endurance.
"She's up! Vivi's back, bleeding but fighting!" Hatterly announced.
"Hell yeah!" Usopp cheered.
"Nice, Vivi!" Nami shouted.
"Go, Vivi-chan!" Sanji yelled.
"Vivi-sama!" Igaram roared.
Vivi felt their voices. They cared, especially Igaram. She couldn't stay down. Strength surged. She glared at Alvida.
"Your eyes changed. My hit woke you up?" Alvida asked.
"I was wrong," Vivi said.
"About?"
"Saying I wanted to win while only thinking of myself."
The pain cleared her mind. Obsessed with saving Alabasta, she'd ignored the enemy before her. Alvida's blow made her see: the real foe was here.
Breathing deeply, Vivi admitted her folly. "Sorry," she said, bowing.
Alvida blinked. "She's apologizing!? Surrender or taunt? No one saw this coming!" Hatterly said.
"I didn't see you, yet I claimed I'd win. No wonder you're upset," Vivi said.
"Not upset, but I'll take it," Alvida replied, meeting her gaze. "That's not all, right?"
"Right. I see now—I have to face reality," Vivi said, smiling, biting her pinky.
"I really want to beat you now," she declared.
"That's enough. You've grown," Alvida said.
Vivi whistled. "Come, Karoo!"
The sharp sound echoed. Alvida, puzzled, knew it wasn't pointless. Something was coming.
Karoo charged from the players' ship, startling Alvida. Vivi smiled confidently. Karoo reached her, and she leapt onto his back, landing gracefully.
"OH-HO-HO-HO!" Vivi laughed.
"Vivi's summoned a pet! Inspired by Buggy's tactic? She's laughing atop her saddle!" Hatterly exclaimed.
Her cackle unnerved the crowd. The Straw Hats, except some, sweated.
"Vivi's snapped…" Usopp muttered.
"No, it's her Baroque Works act—Miss Wednesday's performance," Zoro said.
"Vivi-chan and Miss Wednesday are both amazing!" Sanji swooned.
"Vivi-sama!" Igaram cheered.
"What's acting gonna do!?" Nami fretted.
Vivi's demeanor shifted, like a different person. Her laugh wasn't meaningless. Alvida, unfazed, knew it wouldn't win but wondered what Vivi planned.
Vivi, fearless, pointed dramatically. "Your words back at you—you can't beat me!"
"Big attitude change. Got a plan?" Alvida asked.
"You'll see," Vivi replied, dismounting Karoo. No strategy—just bravado. A lie born of her will.
Pirates thrived on deceit. Vivi realized she lacked obsession with victory. Words alone weren't enough. Outmatched physically, she needed cunning.
She recalled Nami's survival tactics and Kiri's leadership. She wouldn't waste her journey with them. Her resolve softened her thinking.
Vivi unbuttoned her shirt, revealing a dizzying swirl-patterned outfit, her figure clear. Against a man, it might've worked, but Alvida, a woman, smirked.
"Stare at my body ♡," Vivi teased.
"Fine, but is that your plan?" Alvida asked, unimpressed.
Vivi posed, dancing. "Bewitching Memai Dance!"
Her seductive, eerie movements drew Alvida's gaze to the swirling patterns, inducing vertigo. Alvida tried to look away but couldn't, collapsing to her knees.
"Ugh…!?" Alvida gasped.
"And!" Vivi shouted, pulling a longer Peacock Slasher from her chest, its linked blades over a meter long. She whipped it forward.
"Peacock String Slasher!" The weapon snaked toward Alvida, who smiled, knowing it would slide off.
As expected, it slipped. But Vivi shouted, "That's not my target!"
The blades shifted, entangling Alvida's mace and chest, yanking them skyward. Vivi grinned.
"Karoo!"
"Quack!" Karoo caught the falling chest with his wings and bolted for the goal.
This wasn't a deathmatch; rules applied. Alvida panicked—Karoo's escape meant defeat. Vivi, hands free, could delay her. The mace lay behind Vivi, out of reach. Alvida stood, vertigo gone, but hesitated: stop Vivi or chase Karoo?
Vivi ran toward the goal, confusing Alvida. Was it a mistake? Alvida chased, opting to fight barehanded.
"Nice move! I'm impressed!" Alvida laughed.
"OH-HO-HO! The fight's just begun!" Vivi replied, hurling two bottles she'd grabbed from the house.
Her String Slasher smashed them, dousing Alvida in liquid. Her pace faltered.
"Alcohol?" Alvida asked.
"Found in the house," Vivi said.
"What's the point?"
Vivi smirked. "I heard Usopp's tales—defeating a Fishman officer. You know alcohol burns, right?"
"What!?" Alvida gasped.
Vivi's blades struck, sparking against Alvida's skin. The sparks ignited the alcohol, engulfing her in flames. Panicked, Alvida ran.
"AAAH! Water!" she screamed.
"Jump in the sea!" Vivi urged.
"Water!?" Alvida leapt over the fence, forgetting she was a Devil Fruit user, unable to swim.
"Bye-bye, baby ♡," Vivi said with a sultry smile.
Alvida plunged into the sea. The flames extinguished quickly, minimizing damage. A contracted Sea Cat rescued her, surfacing with her on its head. But, seizing her helplessness, it headbutted her skyward, sending her crashing to the island's center.
Vivi, stunned by the brutal rescue, snapped back at Hatterly's voice.
"Upset! Vivi turned the tables, sending Alvida into the sea! Our Sea Cat saved her, but that girl's ruthless!" Hatterly shouted.
"Way to go, Vivi!" Usopp cheered.
"Nice job!" Nami yelled.
"Vivi-sama!" Igaram roared.
Vivi's heart raced. She'd acted instinctively, perhaps cruelly, but felt no regret—this was true resolve. Breathing deeply, she shouted, "OH-HO-HO! …Just kidding."
Seeing Karoo place the chest in the ring, giving a thumbs-up, Vivi smiled gently, like a girl again.
