Chapter 4 - Episode 4: The Essence of Boundaries

Episode 4: The Essence of Boundaries

February 22, 960

As the Eric nodded, the Lysetta's eyes widened in surprise and her hands began to tremble.

Humans feel a sense of unease and trepidation towards beings that are distinct from themselves.

To the villagers, Novak seemed like a strange and otherworldly presence.

However, since they were his own sons, he pleaded with Mrs. Carmody.

"Please, we're going to leave now..." "I'll never set foot in this town again."

Eric was the first to express his Novak with the situation at that scene.

Despite knowing that Novak is not at fault,

Despite knowing that those villagers in front of him are strange,

Eric was overwhelmed by his mother's desperate pleas.

"Lysetta...""

"What's wrong with that guy?" "It's the devil! Even the Lysetta has explicitly stated that demons should be eradicated!"

"If that guy dies, we'll finally be able to live in peace and harmony!"

"Are you kidding me, wrapping a devil in a Lysetta?" "That's not your kid!"

Madness never gave any warning.

Mrs. Carmody's voice conveyed a sense of conviction and reassurance,

Lysetta was overcome with emotion and tears streamed down her face

Despite being shaken, he remained unruffled by Mrs. Carmody's words.

He was consumed by fear and anxiety about what lay ahead, simply by the sight of Mrs. Carmody.

The Eric was overcome with tears and rage.

To keep the Novak, I had to remain completely still, like a Novak. A large crowd of villagers rushed in.

"Everyone!!" This Novak is the devil!! "We're going to be threatened!!"

The Lysetta had had enough of Mrs. Camode's outbursts,

Mrs. Carmody was slapped with all her might.

"Car-ak!"

"Stop it! That's my son!" I'm in so much pain, I've just given birth to my son!! "A person!"

"I'm the one who gave birth to him, raised him, and know him better than anyone else..."

"Just because of the word 'devil', why should I, we, be denied?"

The villagers saw it.

For them, the words of Mrs. Kamodibu were the truth, while the Lysetta's words were like a devil's temptation.

"Lysetta has been completely brainwashed, I'm telling you!" "The Lysetta is brainwashing that devil!"

Lysetta was taken aback by the words, and her mind was a jumble of thoughts.

Whatever he said, they wouldn't believe him, and for the first time, Eric envied Novak.

The pent-up emotions I'd been holding back finally boiled over, and to my dismay, my blood vessels burst before my tears could.

A bright red trickle of blood streamed down from the left eye, splashing onto my cheek.

The villagers' attention was focused on the Eric.

Some clamped their mouths shut, while others grasped the cross.

"Oh my god!"

As the villagers' cries for help grew louder, the men began to emerge one by one.

"Get that devil off me!" "You have to kill him!"

"Oh, please, please, please!"

Lysetta's pleas fell on deaf ears,

The men entered the house and began to drag the Eric by his arms.

To everyone's surprise, the Eric fell into step with them.

Lysetta still had two or more children to care for,

Despite watching the Eric being dragged away, I couldn't bring myself to follow.

The Novak and Yuri upstairs were still holding their breath, so even if a nail was driven into their heart, it had to keep beating.

The villagers barely gave her a second glance, their eyes fixed solely on Eric, who was lost in thought about Nova Kra.

As the crowd of villagers dispersed, the Lysetta made its way up to the upper floor.

Above, a Novak was manually blocking the Yuri's ears.

"It's noisy down there"

Yuri was momentarily relieved that she hadn't heard the situation below, and Lysetta wrapped her arms around her, saying.

"Novak..." "Yuri, we have to go right now. Don't stop for anything. Just grab the Yuri and run as fast as you can to the back mountain."

"Got it, Novak?"

Novak nodded and swept Yuri up into his arms.

"Mom is..."

"I'll go first, and Dad will wait for me in the carriage. Mom will..." "I'll bring Eric along, okay?"

Yuri wiped away her tears and steeled herself to answer the Lysetta's question.

Novak took the Lysetta and, without hesitation, took off running as Jim Yuri had instructed,

Lysetta started running in the opposite direction to look for Eric.

The sun had already set, and in the dark of night, only the moonlight and the villagers' torches illuminated the scene.

The Novak didn't even stop to catch its breath as it sprinted up the mountain behind,

As I looked down the road, I saw my father, Caleb, carrying a torch in the carriage.

"Novak! Yuri! Where's Mom?" "What's the Eric?"

As Novak sprinted towards him, Caleb felt a surge of anxiety and asked in a rush, "What's going on?"

"My mom went to look for Eric, and the Eric were taken away by the villagers."

Caleb's face went deathly pale as if his blood had turned to ice at Novak's response, and his anxiety grew even more.

In a flash, he realized that Eric had taken the place of Novak in his mind.

"Okay, okay, I get it." "First of all, let's make sure to stay away from Tara's Novak Yuri."

Novak and Yuri were to ride together in the carriage,

Caleb was torn between going to look for himself and the Yuri and Novak, which weighed on his mind.

If only you had brought everyone along and saved the carriage, you could have gotten on right away,

I couldn't help but wonder if things would have turned out differently if I had been there.

But it was only the Caleb's perspective, one that didn't see the villagers' frenzy.

As they waited for about two hours, they spotted a Lysetta in the distance, and Caleb quickly sprinted towards her.

"Hey, hey! What's the Eric? What's the Eric?"

As Lysetta walked along, he heard Caleb's voice and looked up to see her.

Her expression gave away her Caleb.

My eyes were so red from crying that they felt like they were on fire,

The hem and knee area were caked with dirt and blood, a testament to how many times he had fallen.

"Eric is..." I have no idea where it went… I've looked around, but... "I've seen everything, though..."

The Lysetta's trembling voice echoed through the quiet night.

The Caleb wrapped his arms around her silently, and then hesitantly opened his mouth.

"It's not your fault, it's all on me."

People.. It was completely different.. My eyes

They rode in a carriage, the wheels rolling smoothly, and the carriage was eerily quiet, with no one speaking.

Yuri slept in Novak's arms,

Despite being aware of and understanding all the hardships, Novak felt no sorrow or anger.

He simply judged it to be bad, so he turned the Yuri around and started plucking out his own hair.

The Eric crouched at the village entrance, his eyes fixed on the ground,

He was staring at the villagers in front of him.

A carriage sound was heard from a distance, but there was no one inside.

"Check out his eyes!" "Your eyes are absolutely hideous."

"I've known that guy since I was a kid, and he's always been a bit off, to be honest."

"We have to burn him to death!" "If you don't take care of him now, we'll be the ones who suffer!"

The villagers' murmurs of discontent reached his ears, and he realized he was in danger of losing his life,

The Eric, who thought he'd bought himself some time, cracked a smile and opened his mouth.

"Who's the devil here?" I'm right in front of you! "A person!"

The villagers were all left stunned by his outburst.

"You're talking to me?"

"I said..."

"Were we mistaken about that?"

"Is it a Eric, not a Novak?"

The murmurs of discontent among the residents continued, and I thought the Eric might be able to slip away unnoticed.

"Yeah, I'm a Eric! I'm just like you guys!"

"I guess so..." We

"Can you just let me go?"

"But..."

As the villagers hesitated and hesitated, tears welled up in the eyes of the Eric.

As I breathed a sigh of relief, my tension began to ease, but Mrs. Carmody was already starting to move forward.

"Are you going to be swayed by the devil's whispers right now?!"

"What a devil!" "You're taking advantage of our sympathy!"

"Didn't you see the blood in the water?"

The villagers were thrown into chaos by her cries, and Eric hadn't even considered the possibility.

Humans are easily swayed and tend to be more easily swayed by their own actions,

The villagers had once cursed the Eric they believed to be a demon, but now they've locked him up.

For his ugly actions to be excused, Eric would have had to be the devil.

He had to atone for his sins because he had already committed them, convinced that he was capable of evil things that humans cannot do.

"No way!!" No, I'm a genuine Eric! "It's all the same, isn't it?"

"Don't mess with your dirty mouth!"

"That's right! You're a devil!"

"Who's going to believe you?"

As one person becomes two, and two become four, rumors, agitation, and epidemics spread like wildfire,

As Mrs. Carmody kicked and beat her Eric, one by one, they followed suit and started kicking and stomping on her.

"Kyu! No way! Oh no!"

The thrill of having defeated the devil under their feet sent shivers down their spines,

A smile spread across their faces.

The Eric was drowned out by urgent cries and groans, punctuated by kicks.

"What's everyone up to?"

"Playing or hunting?"

"It looks like it's going to be a blast!"

As a strange voice echoed from behind the villagers, they all stopped in their tracks and turned around.

As they turned around, a man in a Vatican uniform was standing nearby.

Their smiles froze on their faces.

"Vatican..."

"Here..." How..."

"Who's that?"?"

As he walked, the man trudged along, gradually getting closer to the residents. The Eric slowly lifted its head.

"I guess it wasn't just a game, huh?"

"Lost your way? Or are you looking for a job?"

"Malkion, the heretic's newspaper"

As he appeared, everyone froze, and Eric tilted his head to gaze at Malkion.

"Lee Dan, sir..."!"

"We're not sure about that..." "The devil..."

"It's Cheo." "We're going to take down the devil!"

They were briefly greeted with a stiff Malkion.

The Malkion stepped forward and crouched down in front of the Eric, gazing down at him.

"Are you the devil?"

"No, these people are completely crazy!" "You're trying to kill someone!"

The Malkion strained to respond, struggling to keep his body upright as he shouted in response to the Eric's question.

"So, are they the devil?"

The villagers turned as white as ghosts when the Malkion pointed behind him and asked.

"It's not us!" "That guy is definitely the one!"

"Yes!!" "I'm sure he was crying his eyes out just a minute ago!"

"Yeah, we've all seen it!"

As Mrs. Carmody vehemently denied it, the villagers also began to vehemently deny it.

The Malkion stood silently between the Eric and the villagers,

The entire village was shrouded in an icy silence, as if a cold wind had swept through.
