Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: On The Edge Of Fate

Red skies. Blood-drenched ground. And the sound of werewolves dying.

Cries of anguish and pain echoed through the air, sharp and gut-twisting. Vampires swarmed the battlefield, tearing through werewolves with monstrous speed, dismembering them… ripping out hearts with savage delight.

In the distance, the True Blood Omega knelt, drenched in blood. Her long white hair clung to her face, and her glowing blue eyes locked onto the figure before her.

The True Blood Alpha.

She stood trembling, holding a silver dagger. Her grip was weak, her eyes wide with something close to fear.

Then, she drove the dagger into the Omega's chest.

Liora gasped, her body jolting upright.

Her heart thundered in her ears as she sat in her bed, drenched in sweat, eyes wild.

The dream again.

"Had the same one?" Sera's voice came from behind the curtains as she pulled them open. Morning light spilled into the room, soft and cold.

"Yes," Liora muttered, still breathing hard.

"Vampire massacre, the white haired omega and the dark haired Alpha?" Sera asked making sure it was the same details as the last one

Liora nodded slowly.

"Yes. Same chaos. Same blood. And this time… she stabbed her. And it felt like betrayal.

Sera raised an eyebrow . "Stabbed? ,that's new…. and this is the 2nd time you are narrating this dream to me , it's like we're in a loop."

"I need to talk to my father. I can't keep seeing this every night."

"Sure, we'll go. That's if he's not buried under Fated Moon rituals preparation with the elders." Sera smiled, tugging the blanket off Liora.

"Get up ,Liora."

"You know what today is, right?"

Liora groaned.

"Don't say it."

Sera smirked.

"Your 20th birthday. You're officially on the Moon Goddess's matchmaking hit list."

Liora muttered, "Can't I just have moon cake and silence without everyone shoving suitors in my face?"

Sera grabbed a bouquet of pale blue flowers and tossed it on her body.

"Alpha Ciara sent these" Sera grinned

Liora stared at them in silence.

"And a pile of courting gifts from half the Alphas in moonveil." Sera laughed

"Enough, Sera," Liora groaned, seeing the gifts laying on the floor.

"They know it's not in your hands. The Moon Goddess decides. Still doesn't stop them from trying, maybe the goddess will see their efforts and pick the best." Sera shrugged.

Liora stood up and brushed her hair back with a sigh. "I'm going out for air."

"Want me to come with you?"

Liora looked at her, raising a brow. "Yes. But don't bring your daggers."

Sera strapped one to her thigh anyway. "You can never know when a rogue would show up".

"We're going in wolf form, Sera… so ditch the blade."

"Alright, but I fight prettier in both forms tho." she smirked

Liora chuckled under her breath, then stepped onto the balcony, the wind carrying her white hair around.

*****

Liora, in her majestic white wolf form, raced through the forest like wind, her glowing blue eyes locked ahead. Her paws barely touched the ground.

Sera trailed beside her in her ash wolf form, her emerald eyes glinting in the fading light.

They weren't just running.

They were hunting. Racing. Free…..just for a little while longer before the ritual.

The two wolves eventually slowed near a stream, their paws damp from the chilled earth. Sera sniffed the air and let out a low warning growl through the link.

"Lunarion wolves are nearby."

Liora stiffened. Her ears twitched.

"Let's go back, Liora. It's almost time for your Fated Moon ritual," Sera said.

Liora huffed and flicked her tail.

"I'm a True Blood Omega, Sera. I may be graceful, but I'm not weak."

"Didn't say you were. Just saying we're way too close to Lunarion territory, and it's giving me a bad feeling."

Liora turned to head back ,but paused.

Her nose lifted.

She caught a scent.

Something deep and warm. Vanilla. Sandalwood. Clean musk. It made her wolf freeze mid-step.

"What's wrong?" Sera asked.

"I smell something…"

Liora sniffed again, heart racing.

The scent pulled at something deep inside her.

"We need to go. Now." Sera said quickly

Reluctantly, Liora obeyed. They sprinted back toward Moonveil.

But her mind was somewhere else entirely.

*********

By the time they returned, the moon was high above the ritual grounds. The clearing shimmered with soft light. Wolves lined the edges of the circle, waiting.

Aldric pulled his daughter into a brief hug.

"Your mother would've loved to see this day," he said quietly.

Liora gave a sad smile, then stepped into the circle.

She stood tall, surrounded by elders and the rest of the pack behind them.

The air shifted.

The moonlight pulsed, its radiance made her milky skin glow , her beautiful white hair shore and the wind causing it to flow.

Her heart beat faster.

She waited, eyes closed, breathing slow, waiting for the feeling every wolf dreamed of.

Suddenly, she felt it….

a wild tug in her chest.

She looked around, but it wasn't among them.

Whoever it was… wasn't near.

Her wolf stirred, restless.

It clawed at her insides, itching to come out.

Her legs wobbled.

Her heart pounded.

She couldn't stop it.

The next moment, her body shifted. Without thought. Without command.

Her transformation was fast and wild.

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

And then, she ran.

No one stopped her.

"Liora!" Aldric shouted, but she was already gone.

Sera's eyes widened in realization.

The scent she mentioned in the forest…

She turned to the elders. "Who from our pack isn't here?"

But there were no answers. No time.

"I'm going after her," Sera said, shifting mid-sentence before dashing into the woods after her Omega.

********

Liora skidded to a stop in front of Lunarion gates.

And just beyond them…..

The scent.

There it was again.

Stronger now.

So close it made her heart ache.

She opened the mind link, her voice shaking with emotion.

"Sera… I found my mate."

"And you won't believe who it is."

A growl vibrated in her throat.

"It's from Lunarion."

"Moonveil craves peace.

But the Moon Goddess gave me a mate from the pack that killed my mother."
