Bryan sat in his office the next morning, staring blankly at the city skyline through glass windows that once thrilled him. But today they offer no satisfaction — just noise.
He'd spent the night thinking about Damon's suggestion but he just couldn't bring himself to agree with him.
Jordan entered without knocking, tablet in hand. "Mr cole when do you plan on getting married?" he asked
"Really? Do you also have to ask me that? You know I can't do that"
"But sir you have to, your position is at stake" Jordan said with a hint of worriedness
"Can't I just find a way to talk to my mother, maybe I should just get her some clothes and Jewelries so she can forget about this marriage" Bryan asked
"Sir, Do you really think your mother would agree to such a thing. She's already determined to get you married before the end of next month and just so you know you can't do anything in this company before then"
"I think I really need to come up with a plan, I can't continue this way" Bryan said and then picked up his phone to call Damon.
Jordan left the office immediately.
"Bro, can we meet up now? I really need your help" Bryan said to Damon
"Sure, where should we meet up?" Damon asked
"we can just meet at your place by Noon"Bryan replied and then hung up the call.
———————————
Bryan just sat in his office thinking of what to do.
At Noon, he left the Company without anyone know where he was going.
Minutes later, he got to Damon's apartment.
"Hey bro, what's up? Why the sudden meet up?" Damon asked offering him a drink
"Bro I really need your help right now, I can't afford to loose my company just like this"
"What do you really need me to do for you?" Damon asked
"Just come up with anything, just find me a wife quickly" Bryan said finally.
"Oh wow, okay then. I knew you were going to come back to me so I asked around"
"Okay, what did you find?"
"You remember the girl we saw at the bar last night? the interesting one" Damon asked
"Yes I do, what about her?"
" I found out she went there for a job"
"Okay so?"
"What do you mean so? We've found a perfect match for you. Just offer her a job, Money and also put her on a monthly salary that's all" Damon said
"And what made you think that will work?"
"Its obvious, she's just a lady who needs money and a stable job" Damon said
"Okay if you think that would work then fine. But how are we going to meet her?" Bryan asked
"I already know how, you just have to meet me at the bar, same time as always" Damon said.
"Hmm okay, I just hope you have this thing planned out well" Bryan replied and then left.
————————————-
Bryan sat alone in his house still thinking about what Damon had planned. He just had to wait until evening before he would find out but he was felling so uneasy. He tried keeping himself busy by browsing.
Time went by so fast that he didn't even realize.
At 6:00pm sharp Bryan was seen leaving his apartment for the bar.
——————————-
He arrived at the bar by 6:30pm and met Damon outside.
"Why are you out here?" Bryan asked
"Isn't it obvious? I was waiting for you to show up"Damon replied while putting his hands over Bryan's shoulder.
"Okay now i'm here, so what's up? Where is the lady?" Bryan asked
"Atleast lets go in first, you don't expect to meet her out here"
They went into the bar and sat in the Bar counter instead of the VIP booth.
"Bro, why did you choose to stay here when we could have just stayed in the VIP booth?" Bryan asked.
"Do you want to meet her or not?"
"Lets just get this over with"
They were still conversing when Leah walked past them with a tray in hand.
"That's the lady" Damon said pointing at Leah "Her name is Leah, she's 28 just two years younger than you, she now works as a waitress at this bar" Damon said
"Wow I see you've made your enquiries. So now how am I going to talk to her?" Bryan asked.
Damon signalled for the waitress(Leah)
"Yes sir, what should I serve you?" Leah asked
"Actually I don't want anything for now, but I have a proposal for you" Damon said.
"Oh okay, but you will have to wait for a while cause I have to serve all customers first" Leah said and then left
"See it was not that hard, you just need to talk to her in a calm tone that's all" Damon said to Bryan.
"Hmm I don't like her" Bryan said
"No one cares of you do or not, you just need to get married and keep your job that's all" Damon said
After conversing for a while, they both went to the VIP booth to relax. Minutes later Leah joined them. She was still in her work clothes which means she wasn't off work yet.
"So you said you wanted to see me?"Leah asked
"Yes, I have a proposal for you, I mean we have a proposal for you" Damon said.
"Okay let's hear it"
"Okay so my friend here needs your help."
Damon said
"Okay what kind of help?"
"He is being pressured to get married before the end of next month, but he doesn't have a girlfriend or anyone that's willing to marry him" Damon stated
"Okay, but what does that have to do with me?" Leah asked
"He wants you to get married to him" Damon said
"Wait! What!"
"Yes, he wants you to get married to him"
"What do you mean by get married? And why are you the one doing the talking?" Leah asked
"Well he is doing the talking because i'm not the type that talks much but since you want me to explain it to you I will. Firstly I don't like you, I really don't. But I don't have a choice, I just need us to get married so I can keep my job." Bryan said in a very harsh tone.
"Wow, see who wants to get married, I don't like you one bit, you're so rude. And why would you think I would want to help a man like you out. I don't even know you" Leah said.
"You don't need to know him before you help him out. All you have to do is agree" Damon said
"And if I agree? What would be my gain?" Leah asked
"If you agree to help him, you will be provided with a place to stay, a well-paid job, and a monthly salary" Damon said
"Wow, your proposal is a very tempting one, but I don't think I can go ahead with it. I can't afford to sell myself" Leah said sounding unsure
"You shouldn't say you can't yet, we will give you time to think about it, but please don't take too long. Its very important"
"Okay Bye" Leah said and then left to continue her work
"I don't like this girl one bit. She's so demanding" Bryan said
"You wouldn't know that. You just met her. Lets just hope she says yes to the proposal" Damon said.
Bryan continued looking in Leah's direction with a cold expression but eventually looked away when they where about leaving the bar.
