4Chapter 8

Aleister moved quickly, focusing his attention on a chair and-

Suddenly he swapped with the chair, almost slamming himself into the wall before stopping. He frowned, it was... Hard to move and use Displacement at the same time, often slamming himself into walls or something else.

It would have to be something he'd improve on as he went out, his home was simply to small to keep practicing these sort of things in. Maybe once he took down the Merchants he could focus on acquiring a base for his cape identity.

Spell improved.

- Displacement (The user can swap themselves with another object, making it seem they've swapped places. Can now be used while moving).

Green circuit patterns spread across the book in Aleister's hands, knowledge of every page, every detail inside it, they all revealed themselves to him.

He grimaced, it was a lot of information and yet he could still barely recall it all. He wasn't Shirou Emiya, he couldn't remember every detail of something perfectly into a Reality Marble (Could he even acquire a Reality Marble? He wasn't a distorted person, how could he get a Reality Marble?).

He couldn't hope to Project the book even if he knew Projection, it'd help him learn more of alchemy, but he couldn't hope to use Structural Analysis to its full potential.

New spell!

-Structural Analysis (A spell to learn the chemical makeup and structure of anything the user touches. Can be used to find the weak points of an item).

Aleister looked over the gemstone he'd crafted, a small red jewel. It wasn't the invisible or true presence concealment he wanted, but it would work well enough.

He quickly opened his closet and found his costume, opening up a section of it and inserting the jewel. He could take it out anytime, but it would serve its use better as apart of his costume most of the time.

Speaking of his costume, he couldn't suppress his grin. It had two modes, a 'combat' mode of menacing armor, and a more appealing 'interaction' mode. Image was important, his enemies needed to fear him while his allies needed to look up to him as a charismatic leader.

"And now... Its time the Merchants meet Faust". Aleister... Faust began putting on his costume with a grin.

Mystic Code created!

- Ruby of Stealth.

By pushing mana into the small ruby, it makes the user less likely to be noticed even if they're footsteps are heard or hints to their existence are seen).

"SHIT! CAPE! CON-". The Merchant was cut off as a spark of electricity fried his nerves, skin, and brain, instantly killing them.

Loud footsteps echoed through the warehouse-turned-drug-lab as a figured walked through the waves of bullets fired by the Merchants, green circuit-like patterns spread across the suit. Faust raised his hand and fired a blast of electricity towards another Merchant, exploding the gun in their hands.

He seemed an unstoppable juggernaut, ignoring dozens of bullets slamming into his armor. Of course, that wasn't actually the case. A mixture of the Barrier Key, the Faust Suit's own defenses, and a Reinforcement spell made his armor seem unbreakable, but in reality he'd probably have to repair his suit later. But for now he was trying to make his armor seem stronger then it was.

This had been the third lab he'd hit today, the first one was was mostly empty and the Merchants within had gone running at the sight of him, the second had been a bit more of an issue but it had also let Aleister catch dozens of Merchants for his experiments, and now he was simply wiping out another lab to piss Skidmark off.

"WHO THE HELL IS THIS BITCH!? SOMEONE GET THE-". No, Aleister had no intention of letting any of them plan anything. He ran to the screaming Merchant and delivered an electrified punch to their chest, probably frying some of their organs.

"I'm afraid I can't allow any of you to leave here alive, you Merchants have been a plague on this city for far to long". He ignored the cry of a Merchant as they held their hand from the agony of punching his armor, he delivered a bone-shattering kick and sent them flying.

So much trash to clean up, so little time.

Faust watched carefully as Squealer worked, he'd teared open a small hole in the warehouse's roof and was now observing the Tinker work. It was... Horrific, his mind could understand the details of how technology worked, and he knew, Squealer's monstrous truck should NOT be moving much less be a weapon of mass destruction.

How the hell was it working? It made no sense! Did Squealer even know the first thing about mechanics? Aleister had always assumed triggering as a Tinker gave you some knowledge of how these things worked, but now he was starting to think it was something else. Perhaps some supernatural ability? Cape culture was convinced magic wasn't real despite having so little clues how powers actually worked, so it was possible parahumans were just magic of some sorts.

He'd have to research it once he'd captured Squealer, and once she'd walked far enough away from her current creation to grab another tool, he acted. Placing a hand onto the roof, he activated his Reinforcement and spread it across the roof, overloading it and causing it to crumble apart.

"What the hell-!?". He fell onto a screaming Squealer, grabbing onto her and slamming her into the ground. "G-gah, you shithead-".

He slammed his fist into her face, she was no threat. She was one of the Merchants main capes, but at the end of the day she was a Tinker who could only create massive vehicles, she couldn't create more subtle power armor. Against someone like Aleister who could fight and had some basic power armor? She was down in seconds.

"Shit! He has Sque-". The Merchant screamed as he was blasted with electricity, Aleister was thankful nobody could see him wince under his armor. He'd used to much mana today, hitting three drug labs and Squealer was making him hit his limits.

"I don't have time to deal with you!". Using one arm to keep a hold of the unconscious Squealer, Aleister began punching his way through the Merchants. Most of them didn't use guns for fear of hitting Squealer, but occasionally he'd have to quickly activate the Barrier Key to deflect a bullet.

Hearing a siren he swore under his breath, he was taking to long! Aleister pushed himself, Reinforcing his legs and pushing mana into the ruby hidden under his armor to make his presence less... Noticeable. He couldn't really explain how the magecraft worked, just that it did.

He managed to return to his home and quickly tied the still unconscious Squealer up, throwing her into the basement where he kept the rest of his captured Merchants. Taking off his mask, he let out a sigh of relief.

"That was to close... Way to close". Aleister had pushed himself to far, he was lucky to have avoided the PRT but he knew both they and the Merchants would be more active. He'd managed to get away with this thanks to luck and the fact nobody had known he was coming, but next time he'd have to be prepared for some more difficulties.

Merchants.

Your enemy, your targets. A list of how many ordinary members there are, buildings they own, and capes.

Skidmark - Still active.

Squealer - Captured.

Mush - Still active.

Drug Labs - Four left.

Ordinary members - 43.

Captured Merchants - 8.

So we've got some decent stuff and lucky hits, you were decently lucky this turn, avoiding running into any powered Merchants or the PRT.

Destroy the Merchants (Rare).

- Defeat the Merchants within a Week (Ultra), two days left.
