Sukuna hit the ground like a sack of iron, unmoving.
For half a heartbeat, no one reacted. Then chaos exploded.
"…He's not dead, right?" Naruto blurted, already half-kneeling beside him, eyes wide with something between panic and outrage.
Sakura blinked, just not understanding what just happened. "What ?"
Karin and Kiyomi both had their eyes widen at what they witnessed…
'W-what that idiot do ?' seemed to be a common question in Karin, Kiyomi, and Sakura's mind.
They dropped beside Sukuna, hands shaking as Karin grabbed his collar, red eyes burning.
Kiyomi was the same, "You idiot—!"
"You absolute, suicidal, brainless—" She swallowed hard, pressing two fingers to his neck.
"Bu.. but why he did that ?" Unlike Kiyomi, Karin was honestly panicking.
Sasuke said nothing, he was still trying to compute what the hell just happened.
Sakura looked between them, then at the other presence nearby, her stomach twisting.
Further away, between cut off tree trunks and bunch of debris, Orochimaru was already reforming.
The broken, slashed body that had collapsed moments ago twitched. Then its mouth stretched unnaturally wide, and something pale and slick began to crawl out. A new Orochimaru emerged, whole and unscarred, peeling himself free like a snake shedding its skin.
He straightened slowly, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"…How troublesome," he hissed.
Annoyance bled through his usual fascination. His golden eyes flicked to the unconscious body of the pink-haired body.
"That was a heaven seal…" His gaze narrowed, anger building up.
"That boy interfered in a way I did not anticipate."
Sasuke tensed up. "He's already healed!"
Orochimaru chuckled softly, though his eyes stayed sharp and irritated. "What an interesting child…"
All eyes drifted back to Sukuna. Then back to Orochimaru. That was the real threat here.
'Fuck… I'm going to kick him in the balls when he wakes up from this…'
To know what really took place, we have to go a bit back in the past…

[Flash Back]
"Huff… huff…" Sakura drew in more breaths while tightly clung together with both Naruto and Sasuke, backing up as the Snake Sannin seemed to return from death once again.
"This is cheating… how come nothing's affecting that guy." Naruto seemed to have lost it, no matter what he did, nothing affected the snake bastard. Rasengan, Fire Jutsu, Strong Fist, they tried everything and the result was the same.
The bastard just brought himself back from death.
"We can't fight him, he's on a completely different level than us, we have to run." Sakura muttered, hands clenched tight in dismay.
Sasuke snorted at that, "And you think he'll let us just walk away." His own hands were clenched, Sharingan flaring, trying to find any way out but there was none. It was like the Sannin was reading their moves. Toying with them, not killing them, not letting them escape.
The entire Team 7 looked battered and worse for wear. Laboured breathing, tired and too damn hungry to go on further, yet too disgusted at how Orochimaru kept vomiting his new body out of his mouth to consider eating something really.
The food was still better in their bags than on the floor, after being half processed inside their tummies.
Sasuke sighed, "Sakura, do you have that kunai." He hated to do it, but he for sure wasn't finding a way out of this situation besides asking for his help.
"Yeah." Sakura nodded. By what happened last time, they knew calling her idiot brother was not always the solution to her problems.
And since then she also realized that she even unconsciously was depending on him. Making her try to improve herself further.
Not to mention in this exam they were supposed to be competitors to each other, neither of them wished to call him.
'Weak…' Sasuke gritted his teeth with hatred towards his own weakness. Even suggesting to call someone else to fight his own fights. How infuriating.
However, he was the one suggesting that, because this wasn't just about his life. He didn't care about his life, as long as he could get stronger, get to kill Itachi, he really didn't care. But both Naruto and Sakura were here as well.
He couldn't cause their death for his indecision and weakness. Naruto and Sakura were almost thinking the same.
So, with much difficulty, Sakura took out the kunai from the pouch and tossed it towards the nearby branch.
"Just be quick, idiot." She muttered, hands raised again, ready to hold out until her brother arrived.
Orochimaru had his usual calm smile on his face, long tongue slithering as he moved towards the traumatized genins. He had to say, they had impressed him, they were stronger than any genin team he had seen.
But the cat and mouse game had to come to an end. He had finally decided. Sasuke Uchiha was the best vessel for him. There was no reason to look for another Uchiha.
"End this game, shall we, I'm more than satisfied by all of your performance. Say, Sasuke-Kun… why don't you come with me. This little village has nothing to give you. You want power, yes !
I can give that to you, make you stronger. Even stronger than Itachi. What you say ?"
His snake-like tongue licked his own lips dangerously, while eyes almost bored a hole inside Sasuke.
Sasuke hearing this just scowled. "You do you know Itachi ?"
Orochimaru chuckled…" Well that too, I'll tell you how I know your brother, even where he is currently. All you have to do is come with me." Orochimaru grinned.
Sasuke snorted at that, "Go fuck yourself." He gave the classic Sukuna middle finger response, the pink hair wasn't always the best influencer for the kids.
Orochimaru's smile stiffened a bit, the unfamiliar hand sign of showing his middle finger was completely lost on him, however, he did understand the meaning.
"My… kids nowadays really have no respect for their elders…" he hissed, and then the slight scowl on his face twisted into a maniac grin.
"By me, it's just a minor inconvenience to let you see… reason." He uttered, and suddenly his long neck elasticated, rising like a snake, carrying his head directly towards Sasuke with disgusting speed which put the whole of Team 7 in shock.
The shock of the unexpected move and Orochimaru's speed was enough for them to have no time to respond.
And just as Orochimaru's deadly fangs were near Sasuke, ready to make a horcrux out of him, it stopped.
Another figure arrived there just in time, caught the ugly head by the hair.
"Geeze, if I were a second late, you might have gotten a nasty hicky on the neck, Sasuke."
"Sukuna…!"
Sakura, Naruto, and even Sasuke exclaimed in surprise, and then as if all the tension left their bodies, they slumped to the ground, finally being able to breathe.
"What took you so long, idiot, we were getting ripped apart here." Sakura chimed, mock anger and a lot of relief in her tone.
"Yeah… yeah, see that bastard, he pulls some freaky shit." Naruto couldn't agree more.
Sasuke was the only one who didn't slump down like the other two, still shocked at how close he was to getting those long fangs dug into him.
Sukuna ignored the two complaining genins; he'll deal with them later. He first checked Sasuke's neck, upon seeing it was clean he sighed. He was in time. Good.
Poor Orochimaru was still struggling to get out of Sukuna's grip, however, the reversal of cleave had extreme addictive power.
Sukuna looked at the struggling head of Orochimaru in his hands, then looked back at where the kunai Sakura threw earlier, the two girls were still standing there, disoriented at being teleported for the first time.
Karin was used to Kamui but Hiraishin was another beast altogether.
He looked at Team 7's relieved image, and then back to the struggling Orochimaru.
'Meh… 5 minutes should be enough, they can last that long.'
He shouted, "GIRLS !"
"Handle this guy for a while, will ya," He said, making Kiyomi and Karin confused when he pulled the dumbest thing possible, something that made everyone there widen their eyes, even Orochimaru.
He grabbed the snake Sannin's face tightly and forcefully opened up his fangs, and dug them into his neck…
And then went ahead and tossed the entire body of Orochimaru with just one hand away, with a single swing of his hand, and the next second, Orochimaru's body was cut in half in mid air, then thrown back in a bloody mess.
