Chapter 104 - Chapter 104 : Team 7 VS Team Hidden Mist [6]

The sound of constant bickering between two girls—friends by twist of fate and rivals by nature. These two were, of course, Sakura and Karin. Unlike the original series, while Sakura did have a good rapport with Ino, her longtime friend, they weren't as close.

Sakura opted for the path of the grind—or more like was forced to by the forces of her evil stepbrother. Yes, Sakura was 90% sure he was adopted by now. She hadn't grown up to be the annoying pinklet she would have been.

No, instead we had a surprisingly competent kunoichi who was an excellent medical-nin. Most of Sakura's time after the conception of her brother was spent trying to find peace. This was even more apparent when she had the honor of being personally trained by him.

Thus, she spent most of her time not with her silly blonde girlfriend who had eyes for the same boy she was going for, but rather with a certain redhead tomato who had eyes for none other than her own brother.

Sage may bless her cause the horrid dream never ends.

However, over time they became friends. And what do good friends do?

They bicker.

A lot.

"What did you say, you forehead?"

"Did you hear it, you ketchup head?"

Karin barked back as she hurriedly pointed at the current location of their opponent, hiding behind mist and mirrors of ice.

Calling it out was rather revealing; they had figured out the location and given up the advantage. Good thing Haku hadn't figured out Karin could sense him. The girl, having no way to hit the opponent herself due to her lack of speed, had to stay close to Pinklet and point her toward their enemy.

Saying it was far easier than doing it, though.

The mist, the cold, the annoying voice of the banshee—they called each other that. There was friction. None of Sakura's hits landed after that one lucky shot.

Losing her youth when she was supposed to be childish and dreaming of her Prince Charming, she was instead driven onto the path of part healer and part combatant.

Current Sakura's healing skills were far superior compared to how hard she could punch, and that was her only fighting method outside of throwing kunai and adding a paper bomb to said kunai. However, that too wasn't anything to whine about.

She could beat any Genin outside the two sons of destiny and a certain extra from the world beyond theirs, even some select Chunin. She was strong for her age. However, that didn't mean too much right now.

Haku had gotten more serious after the first time Sakura almost got him, so unfortunately, the chaotic coordination between the two friends just wasn't enough to catch him off guard like Sakura did the first time.

A lucky shot indeed.

"I told you to hit right, you idiot."

"I did, I exactly hit where you told me. You blind, you?"

"No, you didn't—you went straight. I said right," Karin chided.

"And how do you know? I don't see those fancy white eyes on you that can see through mist." Sakura gritted her teeth. She had indeed punched straight; her instincts told her to. Which was correct, as there was a delay between Karin sensing Haku, telling Sakura, and her acting.

She would have missed the target by an even bigger margin if she had punched right. And she nearly would have ended the match if she had aimed a tad bit to the left.

Indeed, Haku was moving so fast that they had a hard time catching up.

"Yo, you haven't done yet? Come on, how long do you two intend to waste here?" came a rather casual and nonchalant voice from beside them, almost rattling them as they were bickering.

Both instinctively lashed out, only for the figure to effortlessly dodge the attack.

"Tch… tch… tch… tch… tch… So easy to drop in on you two. If the guy you were fighting really tried to kill you, I might have come to a funeral," Sukuna said lazily.

"You're finally here. What took you so long?" Sakura almost exploded at the offhanded behavior of her brother.

"Invigilating."

"Congratulations, you two have failed spectacularly," the boy beamed at them with his brightest smile, like he genuinely believed that was good news.

"Said the one who failed the ninjutsu test for six years straight," shot Sakura, hurting Sukuna exactly where it hurt—an arrow dug deep in his heart.

Indeed, only siblings know how to really kill one another without taking their life.

"Ah… on a different note, perhaps you're right. What failure like me can help someone like you anyway? You two can most likely handle him.

Bye-bye…"

"Hey wait, that didn't—that's not what I mean!"

"Oi oi, are you really going to leave your sister here alone to die?"

"Oni-sama, don't go…"

"…"

"That bastard really left…" Sakura had a vein popping on her head.

Karin saw her last hope leaving, and her soul left her body.

"Did you have to open your mouth?" she chided with much heat.

"Hey, it's not my fault. He's the one to blame."

"I'm sure being a porcupine with Haku's needles wouldn't kill them. Both are healers anyway; they know what to do." Sukuna shrugged, definitely not getting back at her dear little sister for that comment.

Coming outside of the Ice Dome like it was a Tuesday afternoon walk, contemplating why Mondays are a thing in the first place, and with the help of Kamui, Sukuna completely ignored Haku, who was baffled at his intrusion inside his technique like it was nothing. Muttering something about how those two were big girls now and could handle themselves, he turned his attention back to the resident evil…

Cough cough… I mean, resident avenger of the group.

Now Sasuke's fight with Kimimaro was spectacular to behold. Fast movements, kunai and bones flying, fireballs lighting up the air, blood splashing, and bones breaking ever so often.

It was a full course for a good anime fight.

The only problem was that it wasn't going anywhere. Neither had the needed edge to decide the victory.

"I'm sure Mr. Uchiha would be furious if I were to accidentally intervene in his fight, wouldn't he…" Sukuna smiled.

He had intended to do something similar with the girls, but not anymore.

'Perhaps… it's time to use that technique…' His eyes shifted to that of a schemer.

'Can I pull it off? It's rather showy with little substance for something so inefficient and pointless. However, curiosity kills the cat, I guess.' He sighed and took a stance.

For this one, he needed to make hand signs and chants.

With specific hand signs, he started…

"Two Fangs Converge…"

He changed position, bringing both hands together.

"Echoes of Opposite…"

He pushed his hands forward.

"Submerge…"

...

A/N : What ya all think, good chapter ? I mostly keep it natural with comedy here and there. And anyone idea what technique he's doing here ?
