Gu Yue stared at Bai Xu in surprise. She knew him too well—his research into the Silver Dragon's origin was undoubtedly aimed at her and Na'er. Deep down, she believed Bai Xu could indeed restore and complete their origins, allowing them to exist independently.
But this life was different!
Grabbing Bai Xu by the collar, Gu Yue grew agitated as she explained, "I know what you're thinking. Na'er and I were originally one, and in the future you saw, we became Gu Yuena. But this life isn't the same. In that future, Na'er and I didn't merge perfectly—Gu Yuena wasn't fully born until much later. But in this life, because of your presence, Na'er and I have already achieved a perfect fusion. We are already Gu Yuena. In other words, if Gu Yuena hadn't agreed during the fusion, we wouldn't have separated back into Gu Yue and Na'er. What you're trying to do would erase her existence!"
Bai Xu was pushed into a chair by Gu Yue, looking somewhat helpless.
"You absolutely cannot do this!" Gu Yue loomed over him, her gaze intense.
Seeing her emotional state, Bai Xu fell silent. He had been considering it.
Gu Yuena had already been born—she was merely dormant now, waiting for Na'er's origin to return before awakening and taking control.
Bai Xu hadn't expected their relationship to be so complicated. Realizing he was in the wrong, he awkwardly replied, "If it succeeds… I could restore her origin too."
Gu Yue snorted. "Don't think I don't see what you're scheming! You want all three of us, you lecher… What's next? If we somehow split into more personalities like 'Ling'er' or 'Long'er,' would you 'restore' their origins too?"
Hearing this, Bai Xu's lips twitched. "No. Absolutely not."
Three is enough.
Really, no more.
Gu Yue turned away, her expression darkening. As her and Na'er's personalities grew more independent, they had begun to cherish their existence—longing to be individual beings rather than fragments destined to merge.
But they knew it was impossible. At least, not now.
"When Na'er and I fuse, Gu Yuena will learn about this. Think about how you'll explain it to her." She didn't want to deal with it anymore.
Bai Xu could be called devoted—or perhaps fickle. He had no interest in anyone besides them. No desire, no curiosity, no wish for entanglement.
Back on the cruise ship to the Star Luo Empire, Bai Xu had shown no reaction to noblewomen from other families. Gu Yuena, who had been watching, saw him coldly reject one. When she refused to leave, he simply stood and returned to his room.
His only flaw… was that his affections seemed divided among all three of them.
"Fine, I'll explain it to her. It's late—let's grab a bite and rest." Bai Xu and Gu Yue left the Spirit Pagoda, heading for the night market. A quick meal to satisfy their hunger, then it was time to sleep.
As they walked side by side, Gu Yue glanced at him. "Though Na'er and I each hold half of our origin now, this only extends the time we can remain separate. In a few years, one of us may become unstable. When that happens, fusion will be unavoidable."
"I understand."
"Gu Yuena agreed to this, which is why we can do it."
"Mm."
After a while, Gu Yue suddenly glared at him. "You're really getting off easy."
With that, she strode ahead, ordering food at a small stall and paying for it.
Nearby, a group of their Spirit Pagoda colleagues were also eating late-night snacks. Spotting the two, they whispered:
"Isn't that the pretty boy?"
"Yeah, still wearing the Spirit Pagoda uniform. Can't even pay for his own meal."
"I heard he dropped out of Shrek Academy after cozying up to the deputy chief's prized disciple."
"Gu Yue's talent and presence are exceptional—how could she fall for someone so… reclusive?"
"Who knows?"
Gossip over dinner was always entertaining. There were worse things than being a kept man.
"What's so funny?" Gu Yue asked as she returned, puzzled.
"Just remembered something amusing."
Assuming Bai Xu was still gloating, she sighed and sat beside him. The humble street stall was enough to satisfy their cravings. Watching the night crowd under the bright lights, there was a quiet sense of peace.

Secluded Hall.
Gu Yue sat on the throne as Di Tian knelt before her. "My Queen, Da Ming and Er Ming have agreed to establish the Ten Thousand Beast Platform. As you instructed, I've delivered seeds of all remaining spirit beast species to them. With their power, completion should be swift. But…"
"Don't worry, Di Tian. Their intentions are good, but their strength is limited. The Ten Thousand Beast Platform is too small to hold all spirit beasts. Eventually, they'll need the Dragon God Core as support—forcing them to compromise. Though we've resolved to support the Plane's Will, it favors no side. In the end, we must negotiate with humanity. At the bargaining table, strength is paramount. The spirit masters controlled through the Dragon God Core will be our leverage to secure greater benefits. On a higher level—the fate of this plane, the schemes of the God Kings, the return of the Divine Realm… Let Bai Xu, that outsider, decide. In this era of upheaval, we were the first to bow out."
Even at her peak, Gu Yue was only a half-step God King. Her spiritual power might reach that realm, but without becoming the Dragon God, she stood no chance against Tang San's dual godhood—let alone the twelve God Kings of the Great Divine Circle.
Yet sometimes, bowing out early wasn't a bad thing. Recognizing one's limits meant choosing the right side.
"But my Queen, until the end… who can say who will prevail?" Di Tian's voice wavered. The more he understood, the darker the path ahead seemed. God Kings reigned supreme; an outsider had descended. The Douluo Plane suffered endlessly, its fate beyond mortal hands.
"Indeed. Who can say? If Bai Xu ultimately dominates this world, turning the Douluo Plane into his personal domain, so be it. In a world where power dictates all, the weak cannot control their destiny—but the weak have their own ways to survive. Ten thousand years ago, with the Divine Realm absent, you were this world's pinnacle. And yet… you never ascended as a Divine Beast. In the end, we are all ants. Even if the original five God Kings once favored us, godhood passes down through generations. Who today remembers the past? The Divine Realm's heart has changed. They seek to keep the Dragon God's legacy in their grasp. The Dragon God is already history."
At this, Gu Yue thought of Bai Xu in his self-formed heaven—a Bai Xu she could only perceive with her eyes, invisible to divine sense or any other means.
To such a being, forging a Dragon God might be trivial. Their struggles meant nothing to him.
Those who stand above, gazing down upon eternity, are them—not the Divine Realm, not the Dragon God. Beyond the heavens, there are higher heavens. One's insignificance is known only to oneself.
No matter how one laments, schemes, or struggles… in the end, it may all be for naught.
