Chapter 14 - 14

White Zetsu spoke with a hint of concern. "But speaking of which, Madara sama, is it really wise to involve Shiro in our plans so early? He is still just a child."

The spiral Zetsu chuckled. "Hehe, what are you afraid of! Isn't Obito also just a child? And didn't he complete the tasks assigned to him exceptionally well?"

Uchiha Madara looked at Shiro with loving eyes. After a moment of contemplation, he spoke softly.

"My son is no ordinary person. Although he has the body of a child, his mind seems to be that of a mature adult. It would be good for him to go out and gain some experience. And I can also use this period to rest and recover."

Hearing this, Shiro was slightly taken aback.

As expected of my father, he has such a keen eye.

In his presence, Shiro felt as though, given enough time, the old man could see right through to his very soul. But even if he did, what would it matter? They now shared a bond as close as any father and son. As long as that family connection existed, it was enough.

After several years of companionship and care, Shiro finally understood that although Uchiha Madara projected an aura of cold authority, he was, at his core, a warm-hearted man who yearned for peace. In the twilight of his life, what he had lacked most was love.

Shiro's arrival had filled that void. The bond between them, though not of blood, was stronger than any biological connection.

It felt… wonderful.

"Son, come here."

Uchiha Madara smiled and waved, motioning for Shiro to come closer.

Shiro swam to Uchiha Madara and threw himself into his arms, nuzzling against him. The feeling of security was immense.

"My Son"

Uchiha Madara raised a hand and gently pinched Shiro's nose, his voice full of affection.

" Obito and Zetsu will take you out for a few days so you can see the world."

"I am sorry your father cannot accompany you. My body still needs time to recover. But when I am well, I will personally take you traveling. Wherever you wish to go, I will be by your side, understand? The whole world will belong to us!"

"Okay!" Shiro nodded enthusiastically, a thrill running through him.

He could finally go outside. After being confined to the base for years, he was beginning to feel suffocated. It seemed that Obito's mission was to begin the formation of the new Akatsuki. Shiro was excited to witness the recruitment of the ninja world's most infamous group with his own eyes.

"Shiro, your father has a piece of advice for you. Obito, Zetsu, you will listen as well!"

In front of Shiro, Uchiha Madara's doting expression shifted, replaced by one of stern gravity.

"No matter where you go, what you do, or how far your journey takes you..."

"I ask only one thing of you."

"You must remember to come home. Your father will be waiting for you."

"I understand, father!" Hearing Uchiha Madara's serious yet heartfelt words, a warmth spread through Shiro's chest, and his eyes began to sting with unshed tears.

To come into this world alone and, by pure chance, find a father like this… it was an incredible gift.

"Come, son. We are clean now. Let us go to bed."

"Okay."

Early the next morning, at the entrance to the base, Shiro stood dressed in a brand-new purple robe, with Obito and Zetsu at his sides. Behind them, Uchiha Madara had come to see them off.

"Obito, Zetsu, you must be back before dinner! If my son loses even a single strand of hair, you know there will be consequences!"

Obito turned his head and snorted. "Hmph, old man! You're not the only one who cares for Shiro. Stop worrying!"

Zetsu added, "Do not worry, Madara sama. Just rest and recuperate. We all look forward to the day you re-emerge."

Shiro looked at Madara. "Father, I'll be back before dark. I can't sleep at night without you by my side."

"Good boy. I'll hold you to that. Don't you break your promise. A pinky promise, now."

In front of Shiro, Uchiha Madara often acted more like a child himself. After they linked their pinkies, Uchiha Madara rubbed Shiro's head contentedly and said softly:

"Go on, now."

"Alright. We're going, father."
