I lay on the enormous bed, trying to sleep, but sleep felt like a distant dream. My heart was heavy, my mind too restless. I closed my eyes, forcing myself to breathe steadily.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps.
My body froze.
Before I could react, the door creaked open, and he stepped inside. Knight.
Panic shot through me as he approached the bed, his presence overwhelming the entire room. I sat up immediately, fear creeping up my spine.
With a playful yet dangerous smirk, he said, his voice deep and teasing,
"You're sleeping? On our first night? Don't you know what married couples do on their wedding night? I thought you were waiting for me... but no, you chose to sleep."
He let out a cold laugh.
"Did you forget who I am?"
I clenched the sheets tightly.
"I… I'm not weak!" I blurted out, trying to sound strong despite my trembling voice. "I can fight for myself. And… what first night? I don't even consider you as my husband."
His smile widened, but his eyes darkened.
"Oh… now I'm scared," he whispered mockingly, stepping closer, slow and deliberate.
I shifted back instinctively, but he moved too fast.
Without warning, Knight grabbed me firmly by the waist, pulling me into him, our bodies suddenly too close. My breath hitched.
"Let me remind you then… wifey."
His voice was low, sending chills down my spine.
I felt trapped.
In his arms.
In this life.
In this marriage I never wanted.
Our eyes met.
His dark gaze locked onto mine, sharp and unreadable, yet something in them stirred emotions I couldn't explain.
"You said you're not weak," Knight whispered, his lips near my ear, "but look at you... in my arms. You can't even protect yourself, can you?"
I struggled, my voice shaking, "Let me go."
He smirked, tightening his grip around my waist.
"I won't."
His tone was soft, but it carried the weight of control.
"Get used to it, Alice. You're mine now… whether you accept it or not."
My heart pounded as fear and helplessness tangled inside me. Tears threatened to fall, but I held them back.
I wasn't weak.
I couldn't be.
Not now.
Not in front of him.
He leaned closer.
Too close.
His breath brushed against my lips, stealing what little strength I had left. My heart raced painfully, my entire body frozen in fear and confusion.
I struggled, pushing against his chest, trying everything to escape his grip. But after every attempt… I failed. His hold was too strong.
"Is this how strong you are?" he whispered, his lips barely an inch from mine.
My mind screamed.
Is this the end? Is he going to…?
I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable.
But it never came.
Instead, his warmth disappeared.
I opened my eyes, confused. He had let go of me.
Without a word, without even looking back, Knight stepped away… and walked out of the room, leaving me standing there, breathless, shaken, and confused.
Why did he stop?
That question haunted me more than anything.
To be continued!
