Chapter 80 - The Truth

Chapter 80 Amanda's POV

I sat in my chambers, trying to focus on the quiet evening ahead, when the news came like a cold wind. Aurora had escaped the ancient prison. I heard it from a servant whispering in hushed tones to another in the hallway outside my door. My heart sank hearing those words.

Aurora. My twin sister. Bound to darkness and powers beyond our understanding since childhood I knew what she was capable of – the rage, the hurt she could cause. And now she was free.

Fear crept through me like a living thing. What would Aurora do now? She'd always been volatile, but with dark powers... I shuddered thinking of possibilities. And Onyi. I hadn't told him about Aurora yet. How would he react knowing I have a twin sister tied to darkness?

I rose from my chair and paced my chambers restlessly. Onyi was my mate now. We'd bonded under the full moon. But Aurora wouldn't care about that bond. If she wanted to cause chaos... I felt sick thinking it,the worse is we share a mate.

Memories swirled of Aurora and me as girls, laughing and close despite our differences. But that was before. Before the darkness claimed her. Now I didn't know my sister anymore. The thought of facing her again made my skin cold.

I stopped pacing and looked out my window into night-darkened gardens. Shadows moved like living things down there. Could Aurora be out there watching? Waiting? I felt a shiver.

I had to tell Onyi about Aurora. About my twin sister and the danger she posed. But how would he take it? I hadn't mentioned Aurora to him before. Would he understand the complications my twin brought to our situation?

I found Onyi in the library, poring over old texts on powers like his. He looked up as I entered, his eyes questioning. I hesitated telling him, unsure how he'd react to news of my twin tied to darkness.

"Amanda, what's wrong?" he asked, noticing my look.

I took a breath. "There's something I need to tell you. About my family. About a sister of mine."

Onyi's expression turned curious. "A sister?"

Onyi's expression turned from curious to slightly tense when Amanda said she had a sister. "A sister?" he repeated, his voice a bit guarded.

Amanda hesitated, knowing she should have told him sooner. "Yes. Her name is Aurora. She's my twin sister."

Onyi's eyes narrowed slightly. "You didn't tell me about a twin sister," he said, his tone not happy. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Amanda felt a sting of guilt. "I... I didn't know how to bring it up. Aurora's been... she's been tied to darkness."

Onyi's face grew more serious. "Tied to darkness? And you didn't think this was important to tell me? Amanda, we're mated. You should have told me."

Amanda felt defensive yet sorry. "I was trying to protect you, maybe. I didn't want complications before we were sure of our bond. Since we are twins we ought to share you"

Onyi stood from his chair in the library, his movements tight with tension. "Complications? You kept this from me. I need to know everything about you, Amanda. Especially things that could affect us."

Amanda looked down at the young man, knowing she'd hurt him by not telling him sooner. "I'm sorry, Onyi. I should have told you."

Onyi sighed, some of the tension leaving him as he came to her. "We'll deal with this together now. But tell me everything about Aurora. What do we need to know with her escaped?"
