Chapter 16 - Alpha king's summoned

Chapter 16 Onyi's POV

Time stood still when I laid in Amanda's arms, I wanted to ask her about her distress but I let go of my doubts. At least for now. Our peace was ruined and here we are.

I held Amanda close, feeling her tension, her distress. She was trying to hide it, but I could sense it, like a subtle vibration in her body. I wondered what was wrong, what was bothering her. Was it something I'd done? or something else entirely?

As I looked into her eyes, I saw a flicker of unease. she didn't want me to leave, that was clear. But I had no choice. the alpha king's summons was not something to be ignored.

"Let me go," I said softly, trying to reassure her. "I'll be fine. It's just a meeting."

Amanda's grip on me tightened, her fingers digging into my skin. "I don't want you to go," She whispered, her voice barely audible.

I felt a pang of surprise. Amanda was not one to show vulnerability often. but now, she was letting her guard down, showing me her true feelings.

"I have to go," I said gently, trying to pry her fingers loose. "The alpha king won't wait."

Amanda's eyes flashed with anxiety, but she finally nodded, releasing her grip on me. "Be careful," she said, her voice still soft.

I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her. as i stood up to leave, one of the guards stepped forward, a piece of paper in his hand.

"Wait," he said, handing me the paper. "The alpha king sent this message for you."

I took the paper, my eyes scanning the contents. The message was brief, but it sent a shiver down my spine.

"Onyi, report to the pack house immediately," it read. "We have a situation that requires your attention. come alone."

I felt a jolt of unease. what kind of situation? and why did it require my presence? the last part of the message was what worried me the most. Come alone. What did that mean?

Amanda's eyes met mine, and I could see the concern etched on her face. "What's wrong?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I hesitated, unsure of how much to share. but something about the message felt off. "It's the alpha king," I said finally, handing her the paper. "He wants me to report to the pack house. alone."

Amanda's expression turned serious, her eyes scanning the message. I could see the worry in her eyes, the fear. and in that moment, I knew that I had to be careful. Whatever was waiting for me at the pack house, I had a feeling it was going to change everything.
