Chapter 1 - Awakening

'My head hurts so bad.'

As I opened my eyes, that was the only thought in my mind.

The pain was excruciating.

But… there was something else.

"Where am I?"

My eyes slowly adjusted to the blinding sunlight as I scanned my surroundings.

Green dominated the landscape, with hints of other colors complementing the scene. It was... actually quite beautiful.

"A forest…? What am I doing here?"

Questions began to flood my mind, but I quickly composed myself. Now wasn't the time to panic.

As I tried to piece things together, I soon came to a realization.

"My memories... Who am I?"

Indeed, I had forgotten everything—not only how I got here, but also who I was.

Still recovering from the shock that came with this sudden realization, I heard a sound behind me.

'Rustle'

"There's something in the bush."

As soon as those words came out of my mouth, my vision was filled with white.

It was... a rabbit.

'Mphh'

Clinging to my face, it was suffocating me. Panicking, I tried to rip it off, but it wouldn't budge. It felt as if it was glued onto me.

After struggling for what felt like an eternity, I finally tore it off.

"Ha.. ha..."

Gasping for air, I looked beneath me. The rabbit was still there—but it wasn't moving.

Still shaken by what had happened, I carefully examined its body.

"Its eyes... they're white."

Indeed, it was dead.

Was it because of me or something else? Honestly, I didn't care. What mattered most was that I was safe.

'Well, at least I won't have to worry about having something to eat.'

A few hours had passed since that moment, and fortunately, nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

"The sun is setting... I should find a shelter soon."

Luckily, I didn't have to look far, after only a few minutes i found a place to stay.

"A shack, in the middle of a forest?"

'It looks abandoned'

Although I was confused as to why someone would build a house in the middle of nowhere, I didn't dwell on it for long and stepped inside.

It was a rustic wooden cabin. The interior was pretty small, and surprisingly... there was no bed.

'I'll have to sleep on the floor...'

"Well, I'll only stay here for the night."

And with that, I laid down on the cold wooden floor and closed my eyes.
