Chapter 2 - Logia - Wave Wave Fruit

The next day, the sky suddenly brightened.

Kyle woke up with an indescribable excitement coursing through him. He, just an ordinary guy with no real talents in his previous life, had actually set foot in this land of miracles and adventures!

"Damn it! I actually became a Devil Fruit user!" He pinched his thigh hard. The jolt of pain made him grin.

Once the excitement wore off, a more urgent thought took over his mind—he had to go to sea! He wanted to meet those legendary figures that had only ever lived in his memories. He wanted to see those magnificent islands and oceans with his own eyes!

Luffy, Zoro... Just thinking about them made Kyle's blood surge with anticipation.

But reality came crashing in soon enough. Looking around, all he saw was the same bare cave, the endless jungle, and miles of unbroken beach. Not even a decent plank of wood, let alone anything that could be turned into a boat.

"I can't really expect myself to build a ship, can I? What if it breaks halfway and I drown in the sea?" Kyle slumped back onto the leaf-covered bed, completely deflated.

For now, all he could do was wait—wait and pray that a ship passed by this remote island.

Still, this waiting time couldn't go to waste.

"Devil Fruit…" Kyle stared at his hands, eyes blazing with curiosity. What kind of power had that white Devil Fruit, that tasted like decomposed rat, granted him?

There was no information about this particular fruit in any of the memories from his past life.

"We've got to figure out how this 'White Fruit' works. Fast!" Over the next few days, Kyle threw himself into researching his new ability.

He tried copying the signature movements of famous Devil Fruit users he remembered, but nothing happened.

"Am I just doing it wrong?" Kyle scratched his head in frustration, feeling like he was on the verge of going crazy.

He tried everything he could think of for days—even yelling at the sea—only to earn a few scornful glances from passing seabirds.

It was maddening. Other people who got isekai'd into One Piece got the whole starter pack: Haki, swordsmanship, and a Devil Fruit with introduction. But him? Nothing.

That day, he went about his strength training as usual. He picked up a massive rock, ready to toss it like always, but his mind was still bogged down by his fruitless research. Distracted, he stumbled, and the rock slipped from his hands.

As it was about to crash into the ground, a strange sensation suddenly surged through Kyle—an overwhelming irritation. On instinct, he shoved at the rock mid-fall with both hands.

"Buzz——"

A faint but forceful ripple burst out from the center of his palms.

The rock didn't land with the usual heavy thud. Instead, it began to shudder violently from the inside and then, with a soft "puff", disintegrated into a pile of rubble!

Kyle stared in shock, then looked down at his hands, heart pounding.

"Just now… was that…?" He tried to recall that exact feeling, extended his hand again, and locked his gaze onto a thick tree nearby, determined to repeat the effect.

"Buzz!"

Another invisible wave rippled forward. The tree—about as wide as his waist—shook violently, hairline cracks forming rapidly across the trunk. Then, with a loud, teeth-gritting "crack", the top half of the tree came crashing down, raising a cloud of dust.

"Awesome!" Kyle jumped up three times, elated. "This is my power!"

It wasn't just physical force. It felt deeper—more fundamental. Was he controlling vibrations themselves? Shockwaves? Concussive blasts?

Kyle calmed himself, taking a deep breath. It was time to analyze this properly.

Even if he was just an average guy in his previous life, he was still a modern youth who had gone through High School and College.

The definitions, types, and principles of waves from his old physics textbooks surged back into his mind like a rising tide.

Transverse waves, longitudinal waves, mechanical waves, electromagnetic waves…

"If it were a simple shockwave or concussion blast, it should've knocked things back or caused widespread destruction—not this strange internal collapse." Kyle furrowed his brow, trying to recall the exact sensation he'd felt earlier.

Was it something more refined?

Could it be… frequency? Resonance?

In the world of One Piece, where most people are illiterate and even recognizing a few characters qualifies someone as 'educated,' Kyle—with his foundation in physics from his previous life—felt like Einstein dropped into a primitive era.

To his eyes, those seemingly mysterious Devil Fruit abilities actually showed traces of scientific logic.

In his past life, he had read countless bizarre theories and borderline nonsense about "two-dimensional physics" on internet forums. Back then, he thought they were amusing at best—but who would've thought that one day, this strange stockpile of knowledge might become the very foundation of his survival?

Many people had said that powerful abilities like Devil Fruits were wasted on brute-force types who didn't understand science and relied solely on instinct.

Kyle, however, remained neutral on such views. After all, fighting and scientific research were two different fields. Still, he firmly believed that a deep understanding of the scientific nature behind abilities could undoubtedly help develop them in depth and apply them creatively.

"I wonder if this is a Logia or Paramecia type?" Kyle's heart burned with anticipation.

If it was a Logia... that meant his body was composed of waves, immune to physical attacks, and capable of controlling all kinds of waves. That would put him on par with some of the top Logia users!

"Let's try elementalization!" Kyle inhaled deeply, focused his mind, and pictured his body breaking down into countless shockwaves.

At first, nothing happened. But he didn't give up and tried again and again.

Finally, during a moment of intense concentration, he felt his body lighten, like it had lost its solid form.

Looking down, he was stunned to see his arm becoming semi-transparent, like distorted air, with faint ripples along the edges!

He grabbed a small stone and tossed it at his arm.

"Swish!" The stone passed right through it, no resistance, as if his arm wasn't even there!

"Logia! It's really a Logia-type!" Kyle was so thrilled he nearly cried.

In the days that followed, Kyle threw himself completely into mastering his newly discovered power.

The first ability he practiced was elemental transformation. Initially, he could only transform part of his body into a wave form, and it was unstable, like a broken TV screen full of pixelated mosaic in a censored film.

But with relentless practice, he gradually managed to transform his entire body into invisible shockwaves. Although he still couldn't fully control the shape, the immunity to physical attacks alone was enough to protect him during the early stages of growth.

Next came fixed shock impact. He learned how to compress a shockwave and release it in a burst, similar to an air cannon.

Kyle experimented with different degrees of compression and release methods. The power steadily rose—from shattering trees, to smashing rocks, to generating waves several meters high in the sea.

The development of high-frequency vibration also progressed smoothly. He discovered he could imbue objects with a specific vibration frequency, causing their internal structure to resonate and collapse. At first, it worked only on pebbles—but soon, he could reduce boulders the size of a small hut to rubble in seconds.

"Against those Navy warships made of wood, or enemy weapons with special metals, this is basically a cheat skill!" Kyle imagined enemy swords and armor shattering under a wave of his hand, and a delighted smirk began to spread uncontrollably across his face.

---

Time passed quietly. Day by day, Kyle trained and evolved, absorbing knowledge from his past life and pairing it with his current experience. Like a sponge, he squeezed every drop of potential from this new ability. He eventually gave it a provisional name—the Logia-type "Wave Wave Fruit."

On this day, Kyle was training as usual at the edge of a cliff—the island's highest point.

He was shirtless, his bronze skin gleaming under the sun, muscles taut and brimming with explosive strength.

He began with a series of elemental evasion drills, simulating scenarios of attacks from all directions. His body flickered between physical and wave states, churning out bursts of air with each transition.

Then, he took a deep breath and thrust his palms forward.

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

Three solid shockwaves launched in succession, striking the wooden stakes floating on the sea dozens of meters away. They exploded on contact, sending fragments and splinters flying.

"Still not strong enough... Nowhere near the level of the Star Crusher," Kyle muttered, wiping sweat from his brow.

Just as he was about to begin training high-frequency decomposition—specifically, on a strange piece of metallic ore he had found—he caught sight of a small black dot on the distant sea.

Kyle's expression shifted, and he instantly focused his perception, pushing his wave sense to the limit.

Moments later, his pupils contracted.

It was the silhouette of a ship! And fluttering on its bow was a flag—a skull with two crossed scimitars swaying in the sea breeze.

A pirate ship! Kyle's heart raced, and an irrepressible surge of excitement rose within him.

'Hehehe... the three-year wait is over. It's time for me to descend upon the seas!'
