Prologue

"Are you done yet?" a man adorned in full body metal armor and stopping a ray of magical beam with his huge shield asked at the man with white hairs wearing a robe and a staff in his hand floating behind him at a distance in a strenuous voice.

"I'm almost done. Somehow just hold for a few minutes!" the wizard yelled in frustration and got back to chanting the spell.

"I'm almost at my limit!" the man said, trying to keep his feet steady and taking the full burnt of the beam.

There were piles of bodies lying around in the battlefield. Some of them were brave fighter mages from all over the Vyomir continent. Some of them were familiar faces, friends and families of his that he had many adventures with, he had loads of drinks and fun with, now they were lying lifeless in pools of blood, giving up their lives for the safety of the continent. They all called him the greatest fighter mage, a hero, but he felt the most useless and helpless in front of this monstrous figure.

Just as he was about to reach his limit, the magical beam stopped. But before he could catch his breath, that huge figure with dark skin, hair made of black fire with a tint of blue flowing in the air, red pupils, glowing red patterns all over his body and two huge metal arms arrived in front of him in an instant.

"No matter how much the insect struggles, it can't kill the mammoth!" The figure said and a ball of black light started forming in front of his fist. When the ball of light was almost getting unstable, he didn't let the armored man react and hit squarely on his face.

The man was blasted away as the force of the punch sent shockwaves, destroying the path of land in front of the fist and blasted the distant mountain at the back where the man was blasted into.

The wizard's hair danced in the wind because of the shockwave. His final defense line was blasted away. A sense of fear and helplessness invaded him as he saw the figure marching towards him with slow steps with a smirk on his face.

'All over now!' the wizard sighed.

But just as the figure was about to jump up to finish the wizard floating above, another figure appeared in front of him with a huge greatsword. He swung the greatsword towards him in an arc with one hand, his other arm was missing and a big hole was there on his chest, from where blood was gushing out continuously. But, using the last of his breaths he jumped up to protect the wizard for a final time. The figure shoved the greatsword away with his fists and held him by his neck.

"Annoying pests!" the figure gnashed his teeth in anger. He used his other metal arm and punched right through the hole in his chest and pushed his hand down, separating the body into two and extinguishing the last embers of his life.

"NO!!" the wizard cried. He felt the pain of his friend being butchered in front of his eyes to be unbearable.

"You fucking Devil!! I'll kill you!" he yelled in fury.

"You don't have the qualifications!" the figure smiled and brought both of his arms in front of his chest and started chanting as another black ball of light started forming between the palms.

After the ball filled the space between his palms, he fired a ray of magical beam towards the wizard. The wizard closed his eyes in helplessness as he knew that this was the end.

But what he was waiting for didn't arrive. He opened his eyes again to see the armoured man in front of him. He had a red aura surrounding his body, floating in front of him with his shield almost on the verge of breaking. His face was half shattered as the left side of his skull had shoved in, his face unrecognizable as blood had soaked his whole face.

"Levi! You are…" the wizard said with tears flowing down.

"I'm dying anyway! At least I'm protecting you with the last drops of my lifeforce. Complete the spell man! don't let all our sacrifices go to waste!" Levi said with a smile.

The wizard smiled, he wiped his tears and started the chant again. After a few seconds, a blue runic circle formed around the figure on the ground. Before he could react, chains appeared from all around and held his arms, feet, his torso and the neck, binding him.

"What the hell is this! release me you bastard!" the figure screamed. As he was bind, the beam stopped and Levi fell on the ground with a thud.

"Goodbye you son of a bitch!" the wizard said as then a huge pillar of light erupted from the circle. The figure kept screaming in pain as his body kept shattering and chains dragged him inside the ground. After he was finally dragged down, the pillar of light vanished and the wizard fell on the ground too.

"Is h..he..d..dead?" Levi squeezed the words out of his mouth as he was on his last breaths lying face flat on the ground.

"I hope so!"

"So..th..this is h…how w..we die."

"Not a bad death! We die on the battlefield!" the wizard said with a smile, lying on the ground looking at the dark sky above.

"We'll be for..forgotten o..one day."

"Nah man! we will be remembered as heroes!" the wizard said as then his body started turning into motes of light and finally vanished altogether.

"Batard..fl..flashy t..till the e..end!" Levi said and finally let out his last breath.

The darkness in the sky started dissipating as the sun shined again. The rays fell on the dead bodies, on the pool of blood and glorified the battlefield, paying a last respect to the great mages of the land.
