Mo Xuan got a visitor's pass from the Public Security Bureau's reception. He would start working here tomorrow, so it was only right to familiarize himself with the layout beforehand. Except for some restricted areas, he could walk freely within the Bureau's building.
The workplace is like a battlefield. Of course, Mo Xuan had to build good relationships with his colleagues. He smiled all the way. At one meter eighty, with a sunny and cheerful smile, even if people didn't take a liking to him, at least no one would want to give him a hard time. The image of a cute junior was slowly being established.
Mo Xuan soon arrived at the floor where the Criminal Investigation Special Operations Unit was located. This would be his future workplace, the place where he would fight alongside his seniors. Through the corridor window, he could see the situation inside the office. Zhu Yuan was pacing back and forth in front of a blackboard, saying something from time to time, while other members of the unit listened and took notes.
Mo Xuan didn't go in to disturb them. After watching for a while, he walked away. Although he was interested in Zhu Yuan, that was a natural instinct for every man. Even if he wanted to pursue her, he had to do it secretly. Who would openly harass someone?
Unconsciously, Mo Xuan reached the end of the floor, where the restroom was located. Next to it was an open window for ventilation. Mo Xuan went into the restroom for a look around, familiarized himself with the layout, and then stood in front of the mirror to fix his appearance. He was wearing a white shirt today, with a normal sports jacket over it, and sports pants and sneakers below. Other than his spiky hair being a bit messy, there was nothing to complain about.
Just as Mo Xuan was using some water to groom his hair, a red light flashed past the open restroom window. A metallic beetle flew in from outside. The flapping of its metallic wings created gusts of wind pressure. By the time it reached Mo, his hair was a mess.
"I know you're eager, but don't you rush me. It's not your time to shine yet."
Mo Xuan reached out and caught the red metallic beetle. Once caught, it retracted the shell on its back and became docile, unmoving. Only its lightbulb-like eyes were still flashing.
Mo Xuan placed the beetle in his left hand and gently stroked the scar on its shell with his right. Looking down, he could see a white scratch on its red metallic shell. This, of course, was not from battle, but from being dropped by Mo Xuan.
It sounded strange. A weapon created with the super-extreme technology of a certain world was actually scratched from a fall. This seemed impossible no matter how you looked at it.
Stroking the scratch, Mo Xuan couldn't help but recall things from before he came to this world. He had originally lived on a blue planet, an ordinary office worker. He had no hobbies, didn't smoke or drink, and could wear clothes for over ten years as long as they weren't torn. But he absolutely had to buy every CSM Kamen Rider belt that was released. After buying them, he would put them in a cabinet, take them out to wipe them every day, and let out an idiotic laugh.
This was the self-discipline of a tokusatsu fan. The entire wall of Mo Xuan's previous home was covered with Rider belts. Waking up every day felt like being surrounded by belts. This was a feeling ordinary people couldn't imagine. Of course, without sufficient financial resources, it was also impossible to imagine.
Not just the belts, Mo Xuan also mastered every Rider's transformation pose and transformation voice. He had watched tokusatsu shows over and over again for more than a decade, a classic example of "always finding something new." Since he often played with the belts and transformation devices, it was inevitable that he would slip up sometimes. This little guy called the Kabuto Zecter had met its Waterloo, and a scar was added to its metallic paint. That day, Mo Xuan was so heartbroken he was practically convulsing. But he didn't choose to touch up the paint or anything. Instead, he told himself that a battle-damaged version actually looked pretty cool.
Not long after that incident, Mo Xuan was watching a tokusatsu show when he was hit by a strong light. The light enveloped the entire room, packing up him and all his possessions. By the time he came to his senses, he was already in Sixth Street of New Eridu.
What the hell was this place? Mo Xuan studied it for a long time but couldn't figure it out. And although he clearly wasn't from here, he had an identity here, and he was even a top graduate of the police academy. At that time, Mo Xuan was completely bewildered. He didn't even dare to kill a chicken, so how could he have attended a police academy? And after learning about this world, he almost fainted.
"They didn't even arrange a truck for me."
Mo Xuan complained helplessly. Other people at least got to be "truck-kunned" into another world. His own transmigration seemed a bit shabby. He had come to a different world, completely unlike Earth. Here, disasters called "Hollows" would occur from time to time. To put it simply, a Hollow was like opening a circular dome in the real world. Everything caught inside would be eroded by the power within the Hollow. Inanimate objects would turn into strange items, while living beings would be consumed and turned into monsters called Ethereals. These Ethereals' main purpose was to hunt. Humans who entered a Hollow were in deep trouble. They would either be eroded and turned into an Ethereal, or be killed by an Ethereal. Even if they could defeat an Ethereal, facing a disoriented space, unable to find a way out, and with food mutating, they could only wait for death. There was no way out at all.
In such a perilous world, Mo Xuan, an ordinary office worker, had arrived. One could say he could just give up and wait to die. But there was also good news: Ethereals couldn't enter the real world. They could only expand outwards through the Hollow. As long as the Hollow didn't grow larger, the Ethereals were like fish in an aquarium, only for humans to observe—provided the observer was lucky enough to survive.
