Chapter 29 - Chapter 29! Second Form, Battle of the Pursuers

The three of them peeked out from behind the car and saw black smoke rising from the helicopter, but as a rescue aircraft, the Pave Hawk was very safe and hadn't caught fire, so there might still be survivors inside.

However, they also knew that even if there were survivors, they wouldn't have time to rescue them; the Tracker was still on the rooftop.

"Do you have a plan?" Jill looked at the Tracker slowly walking towards them and quietly asked Shen Ye.

"Yes," Shen Ye said, his gaze fixed on the crashed helicopter, or rather, on the helicopter's support weapons. "If we can get those two M2s firing, we might have a chance to take It down."

As a rescue model, the Pave Hawk didn't have extra space for heavy weapons, so it naturally couldn't provide ground fire support. Therefore, it only had two M2 door guns.

But that was enough. Although the M2 was jokingly called 'Lao Gan Ma' (Old Godmother), that referred to its long service time. As a heavy machine gun, its 12.7mm caliber was enough to tear apart the flesh of any carbon-based creature.

As long as they could get those two M2s firing, no, even just one, if utilized well, it could severely wound the Tracker, or even take It down directly.

"So how do you plan to do it?" Jill asked.

"It's simple. You and Brad will distract It, and I'll operate the door gun." Shen Ye had initially intended for Brad to attract It alone, but after thinking about it, he felt the risk was too great, so it was better for both of them to go together.

Jill nodded. Although the plan was indeed simple, it was a plan nonetheless. So she threw a long gun to Brad, then rushed out with him, firing to attract the Tracker's attention while running towards the other side of the rooftop.

The Tracker's target was already them, so It immediately changed direction and strode after them.

Only after they had gone far did Shen Ye emerge from behind the car and sprint towards the helicopter.

The helicopter's crash site was not far from him, and Shen Ye quickly reached its vicinity.

He then immediately checked the condition of the door gun. After all, after a violent impact, who knew what problems the machine gun might have? If it jammed and exploded when he tried to fire it later, that would be a big problem.

Soon, after a brief inspection, Shen Ye determined that the door gun had not sustained any damage from the impact. Clearly, it was much luckier than the helicopter.

However, although the machine gun was fine, the ammunition box that supplied its bullets was gone. This thing was originally hung on the gun and not very secure, so after the impact, it flew out, along with the ammunition belt inside.

The ammunition belt still attached to the feed port was only a short section, estimated to be only seven or eight rounds, which would probably be used up with one pull of the trigger.

These few bullets alone certainly couldn't pose a threat to the Tracker. Shen Ye simply pulled that section of the ammunition belt from the feed port, then climbed into the cabin, wondering if he could find a complete spare ammunition box.

In reality, this was not easy. The cabin was already a mess, with blood and corpses everywhere. And due to the impact, some dismembered body parts and internal items were mixed together, which not only caused him great trouble in his search but also presented a strong visual shock.

Taking a deep breath, Shen Ye composed himself and began searching inside the cabin.

However, just as he finally managed to find an intact ammunition box, a hand suddenly grabbed his leg, and at the same time, a faint voice sounded:

"Save me."

There really was a survivor!

Following the hand, Shen Ye found that it was one of the people who had gotten off the helicopter earlier to inspect them.

"I'm sorry, although I want to save you, I really don't have the time right now." Shen Ye shrugged at him, expressing his helplessness.

However, he added, "Hang in there a little longer. Once I deal with that monster, I'll figure out a way to save you. Of course, I hope you can last until then."

With that, Shen Ye directly broke free from his hand, picked up the ammunition box, left the cabin, and came to the door gun.

Skillfully hanging the ammunition box on the machine gun, Shen Ye forcefully pulled the bolt to chamber a round, then controlled the machine gun, looking for the Tracker's figure. He then helplessly realized that Jill and Brad had already led the Tracker into a blind spot for shooting.

The door gun was fixed on a stand, and its firing angle was very limited. Clearly, Jill and Brad hadn't considered this problem.

But Shen Ye also knew that he couldn't blame them. As Raccoon City police officers, they probably rarely, or never, experienced aerial fire support from a helicopter.

"Looks like I'll have to dismantle it," Shen Ye muttered, and began to dismantle the machine gun.

Carrying the dismantled machine gun, Shen Ye ran towards Jill's direction while looking for a suitable firing position. Then he sadly realized that even if he found a suitable position, he wouldn't be able to achieve accurate shooting.

The M2 is a heavy machine gun; its recoil when firing is so great that it's difficult to control, unless he could find a dedicated tripod.

But that was impossible. This thing was a door gun; the helicopter wouldn't specifically carry a tripod for it.

Of course, he could just find something to prop up the gun. There were cars parked everywhere on the rooftop, so there was no shortage of support.

But the consequence of doing so would be that he might take out Jill and Brad before dealing with the Tracker.

After all, without a tripod, every bullet from this machine gun could become a stray round, with an uncontrollable trajectory.

However, this problem didn't bother him for long. He quickly thought of another solution.

He planned to get close to the Tracker and open fire. That way, even if every bullet truly was a stray, he could ensure that the stray bullets would hit the Tracker.

However, doing so would require him to wield a heavy machine gun while shooting.

The M2 itself didn't have a carrying handle, only a grip on the barrel for quick barrel changes, but that thing couldn't support the weight of the entire gun body. So Shen Ye directly took off his clothes, tied them to the barrel, and used them as a makeshift grip.

Just like that, he carried the heavy machine gun and rushed towards Jill's side.

Although Jill and Brad were being chased and scattered by the Tracker, they also noticed Shen Ye's actions. When they saw him rushing over carrying a heavy machine gun weighing over a hundred pounds, expressions of shock and horror appeared on their faces.

"He's as strong as a bull in heat," Brad couldn't help but exclaim.

"Brad, can't you use a different adjective?" Jill was a bit displeased with Brad's description.

"I'm sorry, I really don't have time to think of a suitable word," Brad thought for a moment but couldn't come up with a good adjective, so he said, "But he truly is inhumanly strong."
