Chapter 21 - Chapter 21! Sudden Interruption, Six-Segment Echo Team

It has to be said, Ada was a bit too carefree, seemingly different from the calm, steady, and mysterious woman in the game's plot.

"Is she fake?"

Shen Ye scrutinized Ada carefully, but fearing to startle her, he glanced at her before turning his head to continue watching the rain outside.

"She shouldn't be fake. It's not Simmons's turn to appear yet, so how could there be a fake Ada."

After scoffing at his own overthinking, Shen Ye rested his arms under his head and waited for the rain to stop.

Around 3 PM, the rain stopped.

With nothing to pack, the two went straight out and continued their journey.

After another long walk, they finally entered the main urban area of Raccoon City before 5 PM.

Here, they stopped.

Not far in front of them, gunshots rang out.

Out of caution, they found a car to use as cover. Although the gunshots were likely from survivors, it was always better to be careful.

The gunshots didn't last long; after a brief burst, they suddenly stopped again.

Shen Ye craned his neck, looking in the direction of the gunshots, but it was already completely dark, and few streetlights were still working due to the city's destruction, so he couldn't see very far.

"I'll go take a look," Ada suddenly said after a moment of watching.

Then she raised her gun and stood up from behind the car. Just as she was about to leave, Shen Ye suddenly reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her back.

"What's wrong?" Ada asked. She hadn't seen anything clearly yet!

"Someone's coming," Shen Ye pointed to the left, his tone a bit grave.

Ada heard the seriousness in Shen Ye's tone and immediately disengaged the safety on her MP5 submachine gun.

Then she asked, "Is it an enemy?"

Shen Ye shook his head, then nodded again.

Ada frowned immediately and asked, "Can you just say it directly? I'm not good at guessing men's thoughts."

Shen Ye looked directly in that direction and said in a low voice, "See for yourself, they're coming."

Following Shen Ye's gaze, Ada also saw it: about seventy or eighty meters away from them, a man in a Raccoon City police uniform was staggering towards them, but he only ran a few steps before falling to the ground due to his injuries.

Behind this man, there was another person, a woman in a black special combat suit. Seeing the male officer fall, the woman slowed her pace, drew the jungle machete from her waist, and slowly approached the male officer.

Looking at the woman's attire, Ada murmured in a voice only she could hear, "Wolf Pack Squad of Umbrella Corporation, why are they here?"

Although she hadn't had much dealings with Umbrella Corporation's security forces, she had heard of this special squad, and she also understood why Shen Ye's tone was so grave.

"You've met them before?" Ada pulled her head back and asked Shen Ye.

Shen Ye nodded, "Just before I met you."

"You're lucky," Ada sighed, well aware of Wolf Pack Squad's combat effectiveness. "You actually survived against them."

"You should praise my strength," Shen Ye said, dissatisfied that Ada attributed his survival solely to luck, speaking seriously. "I didn't suffer any losses back then, and I have the ability to deal with them."

"Then why didn't you deal with them back then?" Ada, thinking Shen Ye was being stubborn, retorted.

Shen Ye was quite helpless: "Because it would have come at a considerable cost."

"Is that so? Just a considerable cost? It seems I don't know you well enough," Ada was very surprised.

Shen Ye refocused his gaze on the scene, lazily replying, "If there's an opportunity, I'll let you get to know me more deeply."

This ambiguous answer immediately ended the conversation. Ada looked deeply at Shen Ye, seemingly pondering the feasibility of that statement.

However, that wasn't the main point, because a new situation had arisen over there: the man dressed as a police officer was dead, his head blown off by a shot from a member of Wolf Pack Squad who had caught up.

Then, more people appeared.

This was a six-person armed squad, and from their attire, they were USA soldiers.

"It's getting more lively," seeing their appearance, Shen Ye's expression was incredibly vivid; he recognized who these people were.

Six-Section Echo Squad.

USA's special forces, also a group of troublesome guys.

However, compared to Wolf Pack Squad, they were at least on the good side, because they were there to rescue people.

"Can one of you explain?"

Just as Shen Ye was recalling the plot related to the Raccoon City operation, a man in a khaki military uniform from Six-Section Echo Squad walked towards Wolf Pack Squad. He was the captain of Six-Section Echo Squad, Chrispe.

"Murdering a police officer is a serious crime," he shouted again.

His answer, however, was a cold gun barrel pressed against his head and a voice in his ear: "Try moving again."

Chrispe obediently stopped, even raising his hands slightly, his face showing some confusion because he didn't see anyone.

Ada also didn't see anyone and asked curiously, "What is he doing?"

"He's telling the person pointing a gun at him to calm down," Shen Ye replied with a frown.

"But I don't see anyone pointing a gun at him," Ada glanced at the other members of Wolf Pack Squad. Although they all held weapons, none of them made a move. She didn't know Umbrella Corporation actually possessed "invisibility cloak" technology.

Shen Ye thought for a moment, unsure how to explain, but fortunately, Chris Pe's next actions provided the explanation for him.

As a veteran who had served in the military for many years, Chris Pe, after a brief moment of disorientation, calmed down and quickly counterattacked. He first quickly tilted his head back, dodging the deadly shot that rang out almost simultaneously, and then, with his right hand still gripping his M4, he swung it to the right. The solid contact let him know he had successfully parried the opponent's gun, so he fired a shot in that direction.

With a bang, the bullet hit a spot, revealing a person: Viktor, codenamed Ninja, from Wolf Pack Squad.

Viktor was wearing a specially made combat suit, and its protective capabilities were surprisingly good; that shot didn't injure him, but he still chose to retreat, rolling a few times to hide behind a car, then raising his gun to return fire.

At the same time, the rest of Six-Section Echo Squad and Wolf Pack Squad had already begun to exchange fire.

In an instant, bullets flew, explosions erupted one after another, and the scene was exceptionally chaotic.

"It seems we can't get through for now."

Looking at the intensely engaging battlefield, Ada had a headache; she was in a hurry.

"Should we take a detour?" she asked again.

Shen Ye surveyed the surrounding road conditions and shook his head, "I'm afraid not."

"Then let's just watch for now," Ada said. "This is much more exciting than a gunfight movie."

"Indeed," Shen Ye agreed with this statement.

Both sides were elite forces, and whether viewed from tactics or skill, they were truly a feast for the eyes. Even the most realistic gunfight movies couldn't compare to a thousandth of this excitement.
