Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 A woman like the wind

Ada Wong.

Shen Ye never expected to meet that woman here.

She was one of the most popular female characters in the entire Resident Evil series, or rather, the most popular, a woman like the wind.

At this moment, she had already approached the counter, leaped over it with a single push, landing right in front of Shen Ye, half-kneeling on the ground.

Seeing Shen Ye, Ada Wong didn't show any surprise; instead, she greeted him in a familiar manner, "Hi! Handsome, got a moment?"

"If you're inviting me for coffee, I can barely spare some time," Shen Ye said with a smile, glancing at the cup of coffee.

"That's too bad. I usually don't invite strange men for coffee, even if your skin tone feels familiar," Ada Wong said, then glanced behind her. In the direction she came from, several creatures resembling skinned frogs were rapidly crawling towards them. She turned back to Shen Ye and shrugged, "But today is an exception; these guys are a bit tricky."

Following her gaze, Shen Ye showed an understanding expression. He knew why even with Ada Wong's skill, she would find them difficult—a group of Lickers were chasing her.

These bio-weapons, which prefer group activities, are fast, and have many attack methods, would be a headache not only for Ada Wong but even for him now.

Shen Ye didn't waste any more words. After shouting, "I don't like plain coffee," he raised his gun and pulled the trigger down the aisle.

Unlike Tyrants, although Umbrella Corporation researchers considered Lickers an evolutionary branch of Tyrants, their strength was far inferior to Tyrants, including their intelligence. So, as soon as Shen Ye's gun fired, a Licker charging at the forefront was shot down from the ceiling by a bullet.

At this moment, Ada Wong finally showed a surprised expression. She looked at Shen Ye, somewhat astonished by his marksmanship. After all, she had fired several shots earlier, all of which the Lickers had flexibly dodged.

Of course, she was in a panic at the time and hadn't aimed carefully, which didn't mean her marksmanship was poor.

However, Ada Wong also breathed a sigh of relief. The man's performance could at least help her overcome the current difficulty, although her initial thought was to abandon him and leave when Shen Ye opened fire to attract those monsters.

Shen Ye naturally didn't know Ada Wong's thoughts. In just a few seconds, he emptied a magazine. Noticing Ada Wong in a daze, he yelled impatiently, "Reload!"

Ada Wong understood Shen Ye's tone. This was a reminder to maintain fire while he reloaded. She looked at Shen Ye again, then began to shoot.

However, her weapon was a Browning pistol, naturally not as powerful as Shen Ye's long gun. Even though her shots, aimed carefully, all hit their targets, she had no success.

Shen Ye had already reloaded his magazine. Seeing Ada Wong's several shots yield no results, he said, "There are weapons in the bag on my back."

Ada Wong was not polite. She opened Shen Ye's gun bag and picked out a long gun and several magazines.

However, before she could fire, she heard Shen Ye shout again, "They're getting closer. We need to create some distance."

After shouting this, Shen Ye didn't move but continued to shoot from his spot. He was waiting for Ada Wong to go first.

Of course, this wasn't taking care of her; it was still a reminder to her.

Ada Wong indeed understood his meaning. After retreating a few steps, she began to shoot from behind Shen Ye.

Hearing Ada Wong's gun fire, Shen Ye finally moved, running a short distance behind her before stopping again to shoot.

This tactical maneuver of alternating cover fire usually requires long-term coordinated training, but both were highly trained professionals, elites among elites. Although it was their first meeting, they showed greater synergy than many seasoned professional soldiers.

This surprised Ada Wong even more and piqued her intense curiosity about Shen Ye's identity.

But Ada Wong was a reserved woman. She didn't ask directly but chose to change the topic.

As she passed by Shen Ye again, Ada Wong suddenly asked, "You seem to trust me a lot. Aren't you afraid I'll shoot you in the back?"

"No."

"Why?"

Shen Ye fired several fierce shots at the last Licker. Seeing it fall and not get up again, he turned to Ada Wong and said, "My sixth sense tells me you're not that kind of person."

"But we just met for the first time," Ada Wong paused, "And I thought only we women believed in so-called sixth sense."

Shen Ye took off the rifle's magazine, glanced at it, found there were still quite a few bullets left, and reinserted it. Then he said, "Normally, I don't believe in so-called sixth sense, but today is different."

"What's different?" Ada Wong's curiosity was piqued.

Shen Ye didn't answer. He glanced at the messy store, silently pulled out a cigarette, and lit it.

Ada Wong immediately shot him a displeased look. She hated people who only spoke in half-sentences, and although she often did it herself, she hated it even more when others did it to her.

Fortunately, she was a woman trained as an agent, with exquisite control over her emotions, and quickly calmed down, putting on a smile.

"Do I still need to invite you for coffee?" She showed a perfect professional smile.

Shen Ye pointed to the store with the hand holding the cigarette and said, "If you can still find an intact cup in there, I'd very much like to."

"Unfortunately, we've damaged it a bit too much. It seems it will have to be next time," Ada Wong immediately said with a regretful expression.

Shen Ye waved his hand indifferently. In fact, he wasn't keen on coffee; he had said that earlier purely to tease Ada Wong.

Tossing the half-smoked cigarette onto the ground, Shen Ye asked Ada Wong, "Shall we travel together next?"

Facing this question, Ada Wong was silent for a moment, seemingly pondering something. After a long while, she asked in return, "Where are you going?"

"Towards the Raccoon City Police Department. I have a friend there." Although he had met Ada Wong, Shen Ye still wanted to find Jill first.

Of course, this also suited Ada Wong's wishes; she was just heading there.

Although Shen Ye said near the Police Station, it was conveniently on the way.

However, she didn't agree immediately but suggested going to a place first, where she needed to pick up something.

Shen Ye thought for a moment and agreed. Anyway, Jill shouldn't have arrived at this time, and going too early would only welcome zombies. Don't forget, the Police Station had already been overrun by zombies, and there were far fewer living people than zombies there.

After a short rest, the two left the store. Not long after they started walking, Ada Wong suddenly turned back and said, "I don't seem to know what to call you."

Shen Ye didn't directly say his name but retorted, "Before asking someone else's name, shouldn't you introduce yourself first?"

Ada Wong looked at Shen Ye in surprise, re-evaluating him. After confirming that the man in front of her was indeed not a gentleman, she said, "Ada Wong, that's my name."
