The law of the Twinned Skies is quite simple. It only holds three truths.
1. Every star has a shadow, and the False Star is all shadows made one.
2. You cannot see it until you no longer wish to.
3. If you destroy it, you replace it.
These truths were gathered and uncovered by the Order of Stellar Scribes. This knowledge is common, yet forbidden, for the doctrine of the Order holds another simple rule:
You are allowed to research the False Star, but if you unveil its secrets, it's considered possession of forbidden knowledge and thus treason, punishable by death.
Luckily, the ones who research the False Star can never break this rule, for you cannot see it until you no longer want to. If you don't want to see it, then you wouldn't be researching it. This nifty little loophole has ensured that executions based on forbidden knowledge are virtually nonexistent.
The first and only execution was that of Selia Zvezdana, the scribe and mathematician who uncovered the Law of Twinned Skies. Since her forbidden knowledge, by being published, became common knowledge, there was no need to execute anyone citing it. Still, caution is advised when doing so.
