Chapter 79 - Chapter 75 Whispers in the Rain

The Complete Extended Narrative: The exhausted, trembling bodies finally gave way to a deep, profound sleep. Following the wild storm of the night, the two of them lay entwined across the crimson velvet bed, the heavy silence broken only by the soft, steady rhythm of their breathing.

Long before the morning sun could fully break through the horizon, the violent frenzy between Rachmaninov and Sofia finally dissolved into a heavy, exhausted calm. The crimson velvet bed sheets were damp with sweat, and the entire room was wrapped in a strange, thick stillness.

Sofia no longer had the strength to move even an inch. Every single inch of her body bore the faint, unmistakable marks of Rachmaninov's dominance from her flushed waist down to her aching shoulders, each curve tracing the rhythm of his relentless grip. Rachmaninov had pulled her back against him, locking her securely within the protective cage of his powerful arms as if no force in the world could ever pry her away. His broad chest pressed flush against her back, and his large palm rested gently right over the sensitive curve of her waist where their fierce collision had just taken place.

The rhythmic ticking of the antique clock in the corner of the room was the only sound left. The first golden rays of dawn slipped through the heavy gaps in the window drapes, casting a warm glow directly across the bed. Sofia's messy, honey-brown hair was matted against her damp forehead. Even in her sleep, she stirred slightly, as if her subconscious mind could still feel the lingering shock of those fierce, driving thrusts.

Rachmaninov slowly opened his eyes. There was no trace of sleepiness in his striking blue gaze; instead, a strange, chilling satisfaction flickered within them after the madness of the night. He shifted closer, pressing even tighter against her. The intoxicating scent of her skin and the deep, possessive hunger burning inside him refused to let him rest. Lowering his head, he pressed a feather-light kiss directly onto her tired, closed eyelids.

Sofia let out a soft, unconscious groan. Deep in her sleep, she muttered in a breathless mumble:

"Ugh... no more... please, just let me sleep..."

Hearing that sweet, exhausted plea, a crooked, dark smile touched the corners of Rachmaninov's lips. Speaking in a low voice meant only for himself, he murmured softly:

"I didn't bring you all this way just to let you go easily, Sofia. You are my agent, the sole queen of this dark world I've built... your time to rest is dictated by me alone."

Finishing his thought, he slid his hand from her waist up along her spine, parting her loose hair to bury his face against the sensitive curve of her neck. As Rachmaninov's hot breath brushed against her skin once more in the chilly morning air, Sofia instinctively curled her fingers against his arm in her sleep. She knew, with a quiet certainty, that there was no escaping this man.

Outside, the morning sun climbed higher into the sky, and the distant hum of the city began to rise. But inside this closed chamber, time stood frozen, locked to the hands of the clock beside the bed. Their romance, their endless struggle, and their blind obsession were far from over this was not just a single night's affair, but an eternal pact that neither of them could ever break. While Sofia drifted deeper into exhaustion, Rachmaninov remained awake, his eyes burning with the quiet promise of the night yet to come.

As the afternoon melted into evening, a soft interplay of shadows and dim light settled over the room. With the heavy drapes drawn to block out the harsh glare of the outside world, a thick, intoxicating silence reigned supreme across the chamber.

After hours of deep, dreamless sleep, Sofia finally fluttered her eyelids open. A heavy wave of fatigue washed over her entire body—every single muscle ached as if it had waged a separate war. When she tried to shift to her side, she immediately realized that the powerful arm locked securely around her waist hadn't loosened its grip by even a fraction.

Rachmaninov was half-reclining on the bed, his gaze casually skimming across the screen of a tablet. The moment Sofia stirred, his attention snapped back to her. A familiar, mysterious, and faintly teasing smile curved the corners of his lips as he murmured in a low, resonant voice:

"Did you really think you could wake up and forget, my agent, that every sky you wish to fly in belongs entirely within my borders?"

Looking up at him with tired, half-lidded eyes, Sofia whispered in a raspy, exhausted tone, "Will you ever give me a moment of peace, Rachmaninov?... Every single bone in my body is still aching."

Rachmaninov chuckled softly. Leaning in even closer, he threaded his fingers gently through her tangled hair, his voice dropping to a cool, unyielding register:

"Peace? That word doesn't exist in my dictionary, Sofia. And every single ache in your body is just another brushstroke in the masterpiece I'm creating."

With some effort, Sofia managed to pull herself out of bed and get dressed. Slipping into a casual outfit, she headed straight to a nearby café where she was supposed to meet up with a close friend.

She settled into a corner table of the cozy cafeteria. A small wisp of steam curled upward from the cup of hot coffee waiting in front of her. Just as she lifted the cup to take a slow sip, her friend walked up, pulled out the chair opposite her, and sat down with a deeply curious and teasing expression:

"Hey, Sofia? Honestly, you look like you just survived a hurricane! What's with that exhausting look in your eyes, and... wait, what are those faint marks near your collarbone? Tell me the truth, where on earth have you been disappearing to lately? You're acting like you've somehow gotten mixed up with some dangerous underworld boss or mafia don!"Sofia let out a heavy sigh, setting her coffee cup back down on the table with a soft clatter. A deep shadow of exhaustion and irritation flickered across her eyes. Hearing her friend's teasing remark, she offered a weary, bitter smile and muttered:

"A mafia don? Ugh, I wish! At least a don would give you some breathing room. No, this man is a hundred times more terrifying he's like an untamed, relentless beast! Ever since we got married, he hasn't allowed me a single moment of peace to live my life. It's like he keeps me permanently bound in an invisible chain, where I don't even have the freedom to take a breath on my own terms!"

Leaning in closer across the table, Sofia lowered her voice to a tense, conspiratorial whisper as she looked straight at her friend:

"You don't understand a single thing, do you? My husband isn't just some ordinary man—he's a ruthless Russian mafia boss! If you look at my family tree, your head would practically spin. My older sister Aliyah, and her husband Viktor, are elite mafia lords ruling the underworld. And Viktor's own middle brother... is Dimitry. He's the one currently wearing a mask and hiding behind a fabricated alias as 'Rachmaninov,' posing as my husband and making every single day of my life an absolute, exhausting torment. He thinks I'm completely oblivious, that I don't see through his game, but I know exactly who he really is behind that mask!"

Wincing in pain, Sofia clutched her lower abdomen and whispered, "What can I even say... my entire body is aching all over, and my stomach feels like someone is violently twisting it from the inside..."

Shocked by her frail and battered appearance, her friend's eyes widened in sheer alarm as she blurted out, "What?! What on earth has been going on between you two?! Why on earth are you in this kind of state?"

A deep flush of embarrassment spread across Sofia's face. She instinctively covered her face with both hands, a mixture of discomfort and quiet frustration flickering in her eyes. Looking toward her friend, she hesitated for a brief second before leaning in to whisper the unfiltered truth:

"What can I even say?... Is that man even human, or is he some kind of relentless beast? He didn't let me sleep for even a single second last night. The way he asserted his dominance over me all night long... every single bone in my body feels like it's broken. It feels like a literal storm raged right through my stomach... he never leaves an inch of space or a moment to just catch my breath! Ever since we got married, this has been his favorite routine, and honestly, my endurance is just completely running out."

Catching the heavy implication behind her flushed face and words, her friend's eyes widened in utter disbelief. Clapping a hand over her mouth, she gasped in a shocked, breathless whisper:

"Oh my god! Are you serious?! That man is an absolute monster! Does he actually keep you going like that the entire night?!"

Frustrated and exasperated, Sofia blurted out a bit too loudly, "Yes! All night long, he just "

Before she could even finish her sentence, her friend panicked and leaped up from her chair, slamming a hand over Sofia's mouth and hisburing in a frantic whisper, "Shh... quiet! Keep it down! Are you out of your mind? You can't just say things like that so loudly! Everyone in the café is staring at us right now! Lower your voice, for heaven's sake!"

Pushing her friend's hand away with an annoyed look, Sofia lowered her voice back to a tense, complaining whisper, rubbing her stomach:

"Oh, you just don't get it, do you? The extremes he takes things to all night long... if you were in my shoes, you would've fainted ages ago! I only survive because I somehow manage to endure it all. You know, I'm just like my older sister Alia the way she puts up with and adapts to Viktor, I do the exact same thing with him. Though, thankfully, my big sister calls me on the phone every once in a while, and that's when I can actually open up and tell her everything..."

Her friend took a sip of her coffee and asked with a curious glint in her eyes, "So, what is your brother-in-law Viktor actually like in terms of looks?"

A mix of awe and bewilderment flickered across Sofia's face as she whispered back:

"Have you ever seen an absolute monster in real life? I mean, he is so unbelievably handsome and stunning that you literally cannot look away! There is this absolute perfection in everything he does not a single flaw anywhere. From his education to everything else, he feels like a movie hero, except he's easily 1,000% more attractive than any regular leading man! My big sister Alia always tells me that she's the luckiest woman in the world, because getting a man like that as your life partner is a matter of pure destiny!"Her friend's eyes widened with curiosity as she asked, "And what about your big sister?"

A soft, knowing smile touched Sofia's lips as she replied:

"When you look at my older sister Aliyah, she literally looks like a fairy tale princess! Calling her just a princess wouldn't even do her justice, because she is absolute perfection in every single way. She's stunningly gorgeous and fiercely intelligent. But let me tell you a secret no matter how calm and angelic she looks on the outside, deep down she has the soul of a total villain, a morally grey alpha character! Only Viktor knows how to handle that fierce, ruthless side of hers, and together, they are the absolute king and queen of the underworld!"

Her friend nodded thoughtfully and asked, "Alright, I get it then! So is your husband Dimitri just as striking?"

Sofia gave a definitive nod, her expression turning serious as she whispered back:

"Yes, completely identical! They are twins, so their facial features are strikingly similar. But there's one major difference while Viktor's hair is pure, snowy white, Dimitri's hair is a brilliant, striking shade of golden!"

With a mischievous smirk, her friend raised an eyebrow and teased, "Oh, really? Then whose picture is that on your phone's lock screen—the guy with the pitch-black hair?"

Sofia rolled her eyes, letting out an exasperated sigh as she whispered back:

"Didn't I already tell you? That's his disguise! The man is constantly hiding behind a fake identity and a fabricated persona, so even his profile picture is set to that fake alias just to keep everyone fooled and throw people off his real track!"

Sofia tightened her grip around her coffee mug and suddenly turned her gaze toward the window. Outside, the rain was pouring down in steady sheets, the drops streaking rapidly against the glass pane. Staring blankly at the stormy view for a quiet moment, she let out a slow, heavy sigh before speaking in a low, melancholic tone:

"My big sister Aliyah knows everything. She knows that the man isn't purely evil, but he's certainly no saint either. Even... the physical relationship I share with my brother-in-law Viktor Alia knows all about that too. You might find it shocking, but to them, these kinds of physical intimacies don't carry any grand emotional weight; it's just a raw, normal reality of their world. And as for me... I somehow ended up trapped right in the middle of their dark, twisted dynamic."

Pausing for a second, she muttered softly to herself, "In the beginning, I might have been a little foolish... no, not foolish. The truth is, I was just completely helpless!"

Gazing blankly at the falling rain outside, Sofia continued, her voice laced with a strange, heavy sorrow:

"You know, my big sister Aliyah herself told me to do this! She said it was supposedly the rule of the mafia world. In the beginning, I didn't know anything about all of this... At first, brother-in-law Viktor used to exert so much control and dominance over me, and seeing that coercion made me furious. I was just an ordinary person; their monstrous world was way too much for me to handle!

Back then, even Dimitri couldn't bear to watch me suffer through all that torture and pressure. He patched everything up, left all of that behind, and ran away with me. Even though they are still caught up in their dark work, Viktor has changed a lot since then he's finally straightened out now."

Sofia suddenly glanced down at her watch and gasped, startled by the time. Outside, the rain was coming down even harder. She quickly grabbed her handbag from the table, slung it over her shoulder, set her coffee mug down, and hurried to her feet:

"Oh no, look at the time! I need to head home right now, or it's going to get completely dark and the traffic out there will be a nightmare. And listen not a single word of what I just told you should ever leave this table; keep this entirely between the two of us! I've got to run now, let's catch up over coffee again sometime soon!"

Without waiting another second, she grabbed her umbrella, pushed open the café door, and rushed right out into the pouring rain.
