Chapter 3 - First Day

When he snapped back to reality Emma had already released her grip and was looking at him worryingly.

"What was that?" Jack said while still catching his breath.

"Your previous memories. When I was about to die in the rank 7 dungeon you somehow transferred your time loop power to me, leaving my stuck in the time loop by myself."

Emma stared at him for a moment before realizing that he had no clue what she was talking about.

"In my first life, or at least the first one I can remember, we cleared dungeons and eventually made it into a rank 7 dungeon. The only problem was the power had been exponentially greater than a rank 6 and the boss of the dungeon practically killed me, but you forced me in to the time loop that you had previous been in. When the previous you 'soulbound' us he gave me an explanation and told me that if the 'soulbound' resumes you have gained at least some knowledge of the time loop again."

What had he been doing in his previous life and how much did he have to care for Emma to remove himself from the time loop just so she could keep memories of him.

"Were we together in that loop?"

Her mana flickered and Jack could feel her emotions swell up again.

"Yes, you sacrificed everything you gained from the time loop just so I could keep my memories, but even that had limits. I wasn't able to retain any of my magic and martial arts I had."

Jack was overwhelmed by this whole situation. On one hand he wanted to just believe it was fake, but he knew that it was real. He held memories from a full month of the Academy and there was no way she was capable of influencing the system.

"You are aware that I have zero emotions towards you the way I am now."

Emma's face turned solemn before she spoke.

"I know, but this is the first bit of hope I have had in 150 years."

150 years. His previous self had trapped this girl in the time loop for 150 years alone.

'If I ever meet you, I will kill you.'

Jack's watch beeped and his alarm popped up.

(Class starting in 15 minutes)

Emma stood up and nodded at him seeming to know exactly what was happening.

"Get to class. Lets meet in the mess hall three days from now."

Then she disappeared.

If she had just turned invisible Jack would have been able to see her mana core in front of him, but there was nothing. Spells that teleport a person are few and far between but was reasonable for someone that had been spending 150 years living through the same days.

He walked over to his backpack and picked it up before heading to his class.

"Can any of you tell me why some magic spells can be taught and do not have to be obtained through dungeons."

After a few seconds the only response the teacher had gotten was a cough. Not wanting to waste more time she called on a brown haired boy who had his head resting on his desk.

"You there, answer the question."

Jack sat up and stopped thinking about the events that had happened in the morning.

"All magic can be taught but it is only possible for a mage to learn magic that requires a basic shape to be filled with magic, like the Magic Missile spell."

Jack glanced at the boy in the front row who had embarrassed himself in the morning.

"Excellent answer! It is true that all magic can be taught but mages that learned spells through dungeon spell books are unable to feel the mana flow when using it. Thus, it is impossible for them to teach another magic on how the spell works. Was it Jack Rennard? I will have to keep my eye on you."

Multiple cold stares landed on all sides of Jack but he had no interest in them and just put his head back down.

Jack knew everything from his first classes besides actual spell casting. This was because he had no idea magic existed before he was accepted into the Academy, so he had no experience before coming like the other students. It was for this reason that he ended up being unable to do anything in the rank 1 dungeon test.

After another 5 minutes the teacher dismissed the class and the students funneled out of the lecture hall but abruptly stopped when Jack had finally reached the door. He heard whispers from the students in front of him.

"Why is she here?"

"Shouldn't she by in the advanced class?"

Jack had no clue what was going on before he saw familiar white hair. Emma was leaning against the far wall right outside of the door. When she caught a glimpse of him she pushed her way through the crowd and grabbed his wrist before dragging him away.

'It hasn't even been 12 hours, what could she possible need from him.'

They walked down the hall before reaching a door and entering into the room.

"I know I told you we would meet again in three days but I figured you would want to hear what I have to say. Participate in the open class for Martial Arts. The other you always stressed that Martial Arts were just as powerful as magic."

Her emotions flickered for a second before she disappeared from right in front of him.

'She really doesn't need to do that.'

There must be a reason that she recommended him to show up to the Martial Arts class, not just because his other self thought Martial Arts were strong.

He was on a break after his last class so he decided to head to the training room. In his last loop he was almost able to cast a Magic Missile but was lacking Clarity to control it. Now his Clarity increased 9 points and that was 5 points greater than an average mage.

It was time to put his future knowledge to good use.
