Chapter 1 - Eden

The city was quiet, underneath a glass dome, the sky was a perfect light. No clouds in sight. No storm. Never a surprise .

Nyra Vale, the perfect student stepped out from her dorm at Eden academy. Her steps quiet, confident and precise, product of her flawless genetics and years of academic achievement. Most students struggled to keep up with the next mark for a perfect student. She was the benchmark. Always first no matter what. History-99.98%, Calculus-98.99%, Logistics-100%, Literature-99.96%. Her essays were always flawless. Responds like a human textbook.

In archery she never missed. Never failed a test. Only asked important questions.

Most struggle with the pressure to be perfect. To her, it was just a habit-second nature.

She walked into first period. She smiled at the people who looked. She sat in her seat near the middle of the front row, module 6A. The Garden's voice echoed through the school:

"Good morning, students. Today's subjects are: intellectual refinement and social cohesion, and remember– clarity of a mind, ensures clarity of purpose."

Professor Vire struts in, not egotistical, just perfection. His eyes scanning the room before landing on her.

"Ms Vale," he said.

"Would you care to demonstrate the logic loop solution from last evening's assessment?"

She nodded and stood up. She had already known the answer.

"Yes professor" her voice soft and elegant as she spoke.

Below their very feet, a flicker of ligh behind a lens that was pure black. A data point logged. Student moment achieved.

The Garden watched.

It always did.

Deep in its core…a silent beep, whispering to the system.
