Chapter 7 - The Family Twist

What.

What does this man think he is doing.

But I slowly lifted my hand, tense like a dying robot.

And then

He placed a suit in my hand.

"…Huh? A suit?"I stared at it. Then at him. Then back at it.

"Mr. Kang… do you want me to wash it? Or iron it??"

He burst out laughing.

"Oh my Mr. Han, you're too funny. You look like a hamster with those scared eyes."

HAMSTER???

I glared at him, offended on a spiritual level.

First he kidnaps me to a forest. Then a mansion. Then calls me a hamster??

"Mr. Han," he said, stepping closer again when he saw my expression,"calm down. You're not dying."

"Not yet," I muttered.

He rolled his eyes."That suit is for you. Lyna is hosting this party all top fashion and entertainment industry leaders are here. Since you're working on Paris Fashion Week, this is good exposure for you."

My soul left my body.

"L-Lyna?? THE Lyna?? The US fashion giant?? The company I applied to three times?? THAT Lyna??"

"Yes," he said smoothly.

My reflection in the car window stared back at me.

I looked… DEAD.A sleep-deprived intern who lost his fight with life.

"OH GOD," I whispered. "I can't show my face like this. I look like a corpsewhy didn't you tell me, Mr. Kang? Why? "

Minjae laughed AGAIN.

"You look like a hamster about to cry."

I wanted to throw him.

He stepped closer, lowering his voice.

"Come here. I'll fix you."

"I can fix myself"

"No," he said simply. "You can't. Arms up."

"Here?? NOW??"

"Yes, unless you want to greet Lyna's CEO looking like roadkill."

I groaned but lifted my arms.

He helped me into the suit jacket precise, slow, annoyingly gentle. His fingers brushed my neck again.

DU-DUB. DU-DUB. DU-DUB.

MY HEART IS DOING BTS CHOREOGRAPHY AT THIS POINT.

"You clean up well," he said casually.

"I—I always look clean!"

"Mm-hm."

I glared.

He just smiled like he found me cute.

Then he adjusted my tie, leaning closer.

"Mr. Kang," I whispered, "t-this is too close…"

"I'm helping you. You're my employee.I can't let you embarrass the company."

Why did that sound like flirting.Why.

His fingers brushed my throat.I swallowed loud enough to echo.

He smirked.

"Relax. I'm not strangling you."

"Could've fooled me…" I muttered.

He leaned in, voice low.

"No. If I were strangling you… you'd know."

I almost died. On the spot.

When he stepped back, I inhaled like I finally found oxygen.

But then

"Close your eyes," he said.

My eyes widened more.

"Huh??"

He chuckled."Close them, not enlarge them, Mr. Han."

I shut my eyes and stayed still while he wiped my face with a wet tissue, applied moisturizer, fixed my hair…

I felt like an expensive doll.

He finally said, "Ready?"

"Um… yeah…"

He nodded.Then paused.

He stepped closer again and wiped something from the corner of my lips with his thumb.

"There.Pretty little "Hamster in a Suit."

My entire bloodstream turned to fire.

He stepped out casually like he didn't just ruin my nervous system.

"Mr. Han," Assistant Seok called. "We should go."

I stepped out, face fully red.

"Y-Yes…"

My heart whispered:

I cannot survive this man.

The moment I stepped inside the mansion, I froze.

The entire place was off-white, glowing softly under dim lights like an old European mansion.

Crystal chandeliers dripping like melted gold.

Jazz humming in the background.

Decor so elegant I felt poor just standing there.

This is the kind of place where if you breathe too loudly, someone charges you 5 lakhs for "air disturbance."

"What the actual hell…" I whispered.

"It's beautiful," I accidentally said out loud.

"Indeed it is," Minjae muttered.

I turned to agree,

Only to find him staring at me.

I blinked.

He blinked.

We stared like two confused owls.

"Uh… Mr. Kang?" I finally said. "Is something wrong?

"No."

He looked away too quickly.

Suspicious.

"Okay then," I grumbled. "Shouldn't we go in? The Lyna CEO might be waiting."

He cleared his throat.

"Yes. Let's go, Mr. Han."

I swear, In my dreams, this man never smiled.

Now he smirks every five seconds and it pisses me off.

Mr. Seok guided us into a private room upstairs.

And then…

I saw her.

Kang Sohee.

CEO of LYNA.

My idol.

My fashion goddess.

I stopped breathing.

"Mr. Han," Minjae muttered, "close your mouth. You're staring." Minjae whispered, voice a little rough.

"Huh—AH—sorry!" I bowed like an idiot.

Before I could embarrass myself further, she walked toward us.

"Jiwoo?" she said gently.

My heart jumped out the window.

"H-Hi… Sunbae-nim?"

"It's been so long," she said. "Do you still remember me?"

"Of course!" I tried not to squeak. "How could I forget? You supported me so much… I-I'm really grateful." I said, bowing a little.

She laughed softly. "I heard you're at Nova Muse now."

"Yes, yes! Sunbae!"

Then she glanced at Minjae with a teasing smile.

I completely forgot Minjae was even standing there, so I hurried to introduce them.

"A-And this is your CEO… Kang Minjae."

"I know," she said casually.

Then she turned to him with that same teasing smile.

"Oppa. How are you?"

I froze for a second

Oppa??? I asked

Minjae rubbed his forehead.

"Sohee… not here."

I looked between them like a confused puppy.

Sohee laughed. "Jiwoo, he's my brother." She sid

"…Your WHAT?!" I said this out loud

Minjae sighed. "Yeah, Mr. Han. Sohee is my little sister. Unfortunately."

Sohee nudged him. "Wow, rude as always"

"H-He's your brother…" I whispered, still processing. "Mr. Kang… and… sunbae…"

Sohee giggled. "You look shocked. Did he bully you already?"

I stiffened. "Ah—no! He's… um… very… professional."

Minjae gave me a side-eye.

He definitely heard the hesitation.

Sohee smirked. "Mm-hm. That's his 'CEO mode.' Don't be fooled, Jiwoo. At home he's just"

"Okay," Minjae cut her off. "That's enough."

She gave me a mischievous look.

I tried not to laugh.

Minjae leaned down, whispering near my ear, voice tight.

"Stop enjoying this."

"I'm not!" I lied immediately.

He raised a brow.

Sohee clapped her hands joyfully.

"Well then! Shall we go meet the others? The party has just started."

I nodded, still dazed.

Minjae placed a hand on my shoulder

firm, warm, a little too close.

"Stay with me, Mr. Han," he murmured."Don't wander off, little hamster."
