Chapter 3 - Doormate

Everyone was escorted to their rooms, a total of five people per room. Each room would hold two guys and three girls. Although the academy didn't want friendships, they weren't so heartless as to make the children socially deprived and wouldn't be able to mingle with the opposite gender.

Wren and the pretty blonde, Kinrara, were taken to their room, where two boys and one girl were already waiting. The room was large, with each having their own bed and nightstand. It was colorless and empty, with no other decorations apart from a large poster of a former great student pasted on the wall. There was also a hidden, secretive camera that was easily spotted. Wren walked over to her bed, which was between a blonde guy who looked similar to Kinrara and a brown-haired girl who had a stern expression on her face. Wren wasn't sure what exactly to do; she didn't know if she would be able to spend twelve years living like this.

Her drifting attention was diverted to the blonde boy, who seemed to be arguing with Kinrara. "Why did you not take my cam, Kinrara?" the blonde complained, running his hand through his hair. "You think I didn't take it? Those men searched my bags and took it. They were so secretive," Kinrara stated, sighing exasperatedly. "You two should stop whining before they hear you. From the looks of things, this surveillance camera isn't as simple as it looks," the brown-haired girl replied, annoyed by the twins' voices. "Mine your business, four eyes," the blonde guy stated, turning to his sister and replying. "If anything happens to my cam, I won't spare you."

Then he walked over to his bed, which was beside Wren. "What are you looking at, Hazel eyes? Fallen for me or what?" the blonde boy joked, but it seemed to annoy Wren as she snickered. "You dream," Wren rolled her eyes at the boy and started going through her stuffs. Luckily, her teddy wasn't taken. She removed it and placed it on her bed. "Hazel eyes has a teddy bear, how cute. The cushions would make a ball," the boy commented, his eyes fixed on Wren's teddy. Wren glared at the boy and retorted, "You dare, dummy." When the boy heard her remark, his eyes turned red. "What did you just say?" he growled at Wren, approaching her from his side.

"You heard me right, or do you have problems with your hearing?" Wren replied, her voice steady. "Oh, you gonna regret this," the blonde said, his face twisted in anger. Then he pinched Wren's skin hard, making it red and itchy. Wren was in tears. He then tore the teddy into shreds with his bare hands.

"This would show you stupid, no one messes with Kai Blackwood, no one." Then he looked at his frightened roommates and smirked evilly. "What are you all watching?" But just when he was about to turn to his bed, Wren attacked by kicking him hard, making him hit the wall. His head started bleeding. "And no one messes with Wren Williams, you would pay for ruining my bear, dummy," Wren said, her eyes blazing with anger. Kai's face turned red with rage as he charged towards Wren again. "You think you can take me down? I'll show you who's boss here." The other students watched in fear as the two students clashed. Kinrara tried to intervene, but the brown-haired girl held her back.

"Let them fight. It's better to know who's the strongest in the room." The fight continued, with neither side giving in. Wren's determination and anger fueled her attacks, while Kai's pride and arrogance drove him to retaliate. As the fight escalated, the room became more tense, and the air was thick with anticipation. Would Wren be able to stand up to Kai, or would she crumble under his aggression? Her roommate said inwardly.

Suddenly, the doors burst open, and a tall, imposing man with a thick beard stared at the two children with a stern and blank expression. Anger was written all over his face as he approached the two children, carrying them by their necks. "Boss wants to see you both," he growled, his voice hoarse and deep. His breath hit them with its foulness, causing them to cringe their faces in disgust. The other students cowered when the man stared at them, hiding behind their beds in fear.

The man took Wren and Kai away, slamming the door hard behind him. Wren felt uncomfortable, her heart racing with anxiety. When she slightly moved, the burly man stared at her with anger, his eyes flashing with warning. She decided it was only going to make things worse by squirming. As they walked, Wren had thoughts of what was going to happen, and each thought was more horrible than the last.

She imagined being punished, tortured, or even worse. The uncertainty was suffocating, making her feel like she was going to pass out. Finally, they arrived at a large dungeon, which had a pungent smell of blood and sweat.

The air was thick with the stench of decay, and Wren could feel the weight of the darkness bearing down on her. The man's grip on her neck tightened, and she felt like she was being dragged into a nightmare from which she might never awaken. The burly man pushed them forward, forcing them to enter the dungeon. Wren's eyes adjusted slowly to the dim light, and she saw a figure sitting on a throne-like chair, shrouded in shadows.

The figure's presence seemed to fill the room, exuding an aura of power and menace. "Welcome, Wren and Kai," the figure said, its voice low and menacing. "I've heard a lot about you both. You're quite the fighters, aren't you?" The figure leaned forward, its face still hidden in the shadows. "Let's see how you fare in here."
