Yet, this triumph came at a profound cost, paid millennia later by betrayal. During the Sundering, Lord Valerius, an ambitious figure from a powerful lineage, sought to enslave the Crown's will. He used a forbidden, void-forged artifact known as the Ley Key—a tool designed for absolute control. In a desperate, final act, the Prime Bearer, witnessing the Crown's essence twisted beyond endurance, chose to shatter it himself. Its fragments were not merely hurled across the realms; they were purposefully imbued into chosen bloodlines across Aerthos, each shard carrying a sliver of divine will and a fragment of the Crown's original purpose, destined to be re-collected by a worthy vessel.
