Chapter 2 - Chapter 1- Cato Adrenna.

Okay. I can't believe this is happening. I feel sick, I feel nauseous.

I want to go home. Why god why.

I look at the surroundings as I take it all in. A medieval kingdom. An almost British aesthetic dare I say.

Grey bricks lay everywhere as architecture was extremely detailed yet far from modern, the people wear simple clothes.

I take a few deep breaths and calm myself. I need to figure something out. Going home….. Is probably out of the question.

I desperately need answers to the many questions I have first and foremost….

Where am I…?

I walk around a bit, moving out of the alley I was hiding in as I make my way around, finding an old man with a prosthetic leg.

I question how to approach him for a second. I haven't even verified if I can speak the language here.

"Lad? Anything you wanna ask?" I hear the old man say in confusion as I notice I had been awkwardly staring at him

"A-ah, just where am I…?" I ask again as he raises his eyebrow

"You're in the eastern district. Sector 23?" he answers questioningly as I scratch my head

"Eastern district of….?" I ask again, letting the question trail off as he narrows his eyes towards me

"Is you playing a prank on me Lad? We in the Eastern district of Cryllden. You know? The biggest city in southern Aoul?" the old man rattles off as I nod as if I knew what he was talking about

So I am in the southern part of….. The country?

The old man looks at me curiously

"Lad, you don't happen to be a deserter do ya?" The old man asked me as I question back

"Deserter? Where do you think I am deserting from?" I ask him, prodding him for some more information

"Where else? The army! Yee are a young lad! I don't see you have any condition and you definitely ain't daft. You look mighty clean as well, you ain't betraying yer country are ya?" he asks me, his eyes narrowing.

"Ofcourse not, I just haven't gotten to join yet, you know? Still trying to find my way around!" I answer back with a smile as he narrows his eyes and sighs

"I won't rat ya out Lad so don't worry. If you need more then I'll let you know who I am, the name's Ripley, I sell Dew stones." I hear him say as I raise my eye brow

"Dew stone? What're those?" I ask again as he once more narrows his eyes and looks at me as if I am crazy

"Yer gotta be pulling my leg lad, were ya born yesterday? Scratch that, with how lost you are, you might've been born today!" He exclaims and laughs at his own joke as I scratch my head sheepishly

Ripley was definitely suspicious of me but the old man relented, he sighed and took out an orb with a blue hue from his pocket

"This. This is a dew stone. This is what us 'non-blessed' folk use to use God's gifts." He says as I nod

"Wanna give me an example?" I ask as he sighs.

"Quava." I hear him say clearly as the stone in his hand glowed a little and a flame appeared on it

I felt my eyes widen and my heart grow a few sizes. This wasn't a lame world. In this world, they had MAGIC

"O-OH WOW!" I unintentionally exclaim as i he laughs at me

"Yer look like a kid seeing quava for the first time lad! Never thought I'd see a look like that again…. Still, does that satisfy ya?" Ripley asked me as I shook my head

"I want to learn more! You see, let's just say I was very sheltered till now, I don't know anything about mag- uh, dew! I don't know anything about dew, please teach me!" I ask sincerely and excitedly as Ripley rubs his chin

"Interesting…. A sheltered noble kid might make sense…" He mutters to himself but it still reaches my ears

"Alright Lad, I'll teach ya if you really don't know!"He said excitedly as I nodded, consumed within this world

" Long ago, God gave us humans the gift of dew, sadly only a few people around can use it naturally. Others either live without it or train till they get ye yew!" He says as I tilt my head

"Yew?" I ask curiously

"Yew is what people who aren't blessed manifest their dew as. They can make the earth quake with their aura alone!" I hear him say as hands me a dew stone

"There ya go lad, try for yourself! Say it with me. Qua-Va" he says as I take a deep breath

"Quava!" I say excitedly as fire bursts from my hand, reaching up high as Ripley's eyes widen

Everyone around us noticed as they all turned to face us, the busy street suddenly stopping as if witnessing something weird

"S-sorry Ya'll!! My new apprentice completely drained a dew stone by mistake!" Ripley says as people start moving again, albeit a little slowly

The people on the street were mainly either children who were very young or people who were too old.

It made sense if there was a war going.

I was pulled out of my thoughts as Ripley grabbed my arm and whispered

"Y-ya didn't tell me ya could use dew!!" I hear him say as I whisper back confused

"I- I can? I thought it was the dew stone???" I ask him confused as he shook his head

"N-no!! Dew stones can't make power like that with just a quava! The fire came from your hand and not the stone! You're a dew user!" He exclaims toward me in exasperation as I feel a smile crawl up my face

"Teach me more! I need more spells!" I ask him for more as I look at me exasperated as he nods

"Ya mean to say "God's words" Lad." I hear him sigh as I smile

"Okay, I'll teach you all I know! Kura for wind, Luva for water and Mura for earth" He explains to me as I nod, absorbing all this

I could use 4 elements already it seems!

"Okay! Now what else?" I ask him as I shook his head

"That's all I know" he says as I stare at him

Say what now?

"What? Why do you only know 4 of God's words?" I ask him curiously as he sighs

"It's just how it is Lad, except these 4, it's hard to find words for common folk like me." Ripley says with a sigh as I nod. Interesting to know that even though magic was useable by everybody, it's knowledge was limited

"Ya never told me yer name Lad, who are ya?" he asks me with a raised eyebrow

"Me? My name is Cato! Cato Adrenna! Thanks a lot for telling me so much Ripley!" I say with a smile that Ripley returns

I hope that the name Cato Adrenna engraves itself within this world's history!
