"The patient is very stable," the doctor announced. "At this rate, it shouldn't be long before she wakes up."
Those were the words Eva heard before she forced her eyes open.
The ceiling was white and familiar. Eva felt she'd been in a place like this before. She could tell she'd woken up from a place like this before.
There were people before her; she could feel them, but her eyes were too blurry to make out their faces.
She closed them back and waited for a few seconds while a man continued to say some things she didn't understand.
She opened her eyes once again, and she saw Jace, Adrian, and Ryan, all standing and listening attentively to a man who was wearing a lab coat. A doctor, she presumed.
His back was turned to her so she couldn't see his face properly.
"That will be all for now," said the doctor.
