"I had no choice," Dante responded, breaking Eva's heart.
Eva was frozen in her chair, several questions flooding her head. Tears threatened to fall out of her eyes but she sniffled them back in, although it hurt her.
It hurt to hear Dante's voice over the phone, admitting to having James killed.
It hurt to think that the person she thought would be her safe place would actually be the one to betray her like this.
He was working for his father.
Mr. De Rossi hummed at Dante's remark and hung up on the phone, his gaze shifting to Eva who hadn't said a word yet. He loved the expression on her face.
"You thought Dante had been by your side the entire time, didn't you?" He asked, his grin stretching even more on her lips. "You see, Eva, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He found out I was the one who killed your parents but didn't say anything."
He sized her up like she was a pathetic person, snorting in disgust.
