Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Open Mind

The house was quiet, still filled with the peace of night.

Yamato slowly opened his eyes. He had fallen asleep on a wooden chair in the living room. A thin blanket covered his legs, but his neck was stiff from the awkward sleeping position. He let out a small sigh as he sat up, rubbing his eyes.

The sky outside was still dark. No sign of morning yet.

He looked around the room, then stood up quietly. There was something on his mind—the book. He wanted to read more of it.

He tiptoed toward his mother's room.

The door creaked a little as he pushed it open slowly. Inside, his mother was still asleep, wrapped in her blanket and breathing gently. Yamato's eyes scanned the room, and then he saw it—his bag. It sat in the corner, just where he had left it.

He walked over and reached inside.

There it was.

The old, mysterious book.

He pulled it out gently, making sure not to wake his mother. Then, as quietly as he came in, he left the room and closed the door behind him.

Back in the living room, he sat down near the same chair and opened the book on his lap. His fingers flipped through the pages carefully.

Then—he stopped.

His eyes caught a heading in bold letters:

"Read this page carefully"

Yamato raised his eyebrows. The words felt personal, like they were written just for him. He leaned forward and began to read.

---

_"I am a God, one of the Seven. I was tired of the killing and bloodshed between gods everywhere. So, I chose to come to this planet, looking for peace._

_When I arrived, people treated me like just another man. And that's what I wanted—to be normal, to live among them like everyone else."_

Yamato's eyes widened slightly.

A god? he thought.

_"I kept moving until I found a small village it was *Bers Village*. It was quiet and peaceful, so I stayed. I worked hard to act like a normal human. It was easy for me, and I was happy."_

_"Months later, I saw a girl lying beyond my backyard fence. She wasn't moving. I rushed to her. She had pale skin, thin and she looked close to death._

_I brought her to my house and took care of her. At first, she barely spoke. She was shy and distant. But slowly, she opened up."_

Yamato leaned closer to the book.

_"Her name was Esther."_

He blinked.…

_"She told me she had escaped slavery. Her master had tried to kill all his slaves because of a mistake one of the slaves made._

_She begged me to let her stay—even if the pay was to work for me. I agreed."_

_"We lived together for years. And i began to care for her deeply."_

Yamato adjusted his sitting position. His heart was racing a little.

_"Little by little, I began showing her how I felt. She kept smiling and showed care for me as I did her. She was still Young, in her early 20's. We fell in love._

_We got married in the way of the gods. The townsmen came to the ceremony. And I was happy."_

Yamato gave a small laugh and shook his head.

"This is a strange way to start a love story," he whispered to himself.

_"Two years later, we had a child. A boy."_

Yamato froze.

_"I was scared. My child is something the gods feared. I had no choice—I sealed his powers using a high godly technique. Without it, he would have been killed right from birth."_

Yamato's breathing grew heavier.

_"Even though I sealed my son's powers, it didn't stop the gods from finding me._

Some months after his birth, they came to the village, with fury and wrath. Bringing fear and chaos. My wife was still recovering from childbirth, so I left the baby with her and ran with part of his godly essence—hoping to lead them away following me."

_"Still, they went in my house. They found Esther and my son. But they didn't harm them. They felt no magic in the child, probably thinking he is a mere human."_

Yamato's eyes were locked onto the page now.

_"Eventually, they found me after months of running and hiding. They couldn't kill me—because of Order._

_Instead, they forced me to return to the divine order. I agreed. But before I left, I returned home._

_I held my son, Yamato one last time. I made Esther promise not to tell you anything about me and then we bade each other goodbye."_

_"I wrote this book while running. A record of the truth. A book only my wife and son would be able to read."_

Yamato turned the next page.

It was… blank.

"What…?"

He flipped it upside down, shook it gently, and held it near the lamp. He even tried to warm the page with his hands, wondering if the message was hidden.

Still nothing.

He frowned and let out a frustrated sigh. He placed the book on the floor and sat down beside it, confused and disappointed.

"What was the point?" he muttered.

But then—something happened.

His energy began to rise out of curiosity and frustration. It was soft at first, almost invisible. But the book felt it. The air around Yamato shifted slightly. His aura flowed out like a slow breeze.

And then—

Words began to appear.

His eyes widened in shock.

_"Yamato. Only your energy can open this book. Its title is Esther's Son."_

Yamato stared in silence.

He stood up slowly, the book still in his hands. The weight of the words sat deep in his chest.

He was the child of a god. But he didn't put much thought on it

Outside, the night was fading. The sky was beginning to glow with light. The first sun rays stretched across the trees and rooftops.

Yamato walked to the window and looked out.

The golden light touched his face. His expression was calm, but serious. His grip tightened on the book as he whispered to himself:

"Esther is mom's name."

And with that, the boy who once thought he was ordinary… now knew the truth.
