Chapter 5 - The bride,his business 5

The bride,his business 5

It was supposed to be a simple escape, but one way branched into another and we lost our way because the house was very big. Luckily, we managed to find our way again.

The club was at the front, and we would have to pass through it before getting to the gate. But my plan was to jump through the fence.

However, the fence we were seeing for the first time in weeks was as tall as a mountain. Seeing it made me lose hope because we were just ladies—how would we jump the fence? And I knew it was just a matter of time before we were caught, given the guard lying in the passage. We should have hidden him, but there was no time.

"You see? I told you this won't work. There's no need for escaping when we can't even get to the club. Please, let's go back before it's too late," she said.

"And what about the guard? What will happen when he wakes up?" With what we had done to him, I was sure we were in trouble. He would definitely see to it that we were punished.

My shoulders dropped as I sank to the floor in the darkness. What have I done now? I just worsened the situation. There was no other plan in my head.

And with what I knew so far, my fake husband would soon enter the dormitory with the men that would take us for the night, and then he would find out that we were missing, and chaos would erupt. Whatever we were doing, we should do it fast.

"Let's go back," I said. "We can't escape."

All hope was lost.

"Don't you think we should at least try going through the club, try to blend in?" she asked, and I turned back to her in shock as I pointed at our dresses. "Fit in with these dresses? The moment we step in, the guards at the club would spot us immediately... except we have new dresses to change into," I said.

She suddenly smacked her fingers together and said, "I have an idea!" With the way she said it, I knew it was going to be something good, so I urged her on.

She said the cleaners always disposed of the waste from the dormitory every day. "If we can enter one of the bins, then they will carry us away with them."

I smacked my forehead. How dumb is this girl? Waste bins?!

"How big is the bin?" I asked.

She said it was big enough to fit us since she had been to the waste dump before. But I just told myself this wasn't a good plan.

I mean, how will the cleaners not know that the bin was heavier than before if we step into it? And then what if they decide to search it? This was a very risky plan and we could get caught.

No. I disagreed with the plan. We could get caught. It was better we went in search of dresses that would fit us into the club or not try to escape at all, I told her. But she insisted.

Then we heard voices making orders to search every corner, and that was when I realized they had found out we were missing and my fake husband was already looking for us.

We started to run quietly in the dark corners. My heart started to pound in fear, and I started to shake uncomfortably, to the point that it was the other girl urging me to keep moving.

My fear was affecting my movement, but we continued moving, and once we got to the waste bin, she said we should jump into the bin.

There were three big bins and we needed just two; one for her and one for me. Truthfully, the bin was big enough to contain at least one person, but I knew they wouldn't carry that away. How can they carry it?

"I have seen them, they carry the bin away and return it after it is emptied."

"Where do they empty it?" I asked.

"I don't care to know, as long as it is outside this building, then it's fine."

With that, we started to jump into the bin. I hopped into the bin filled with dirt first. It smelled so awful in there, but I had to endure. I took the dirt and carefully covered my head with it, then shut the bin and clasped my fingers around my nose and mouth.

Quietly, I listened, and then I heard, There she is! I realized we had been found and my heart skipped.

I heard the girl trying to defend herself, and I heard a sharp slap.

"Where is the other one?" she was asked, and she pretended, "Which other one?"

Warmth filled my chest. Was she trying to defend me? Why hadn't she entered the bin on time? Why did she take so much time? She couldn't climb it?

"Is she the pregnant one?" That was my fake husband's voice, and a lady confirmed.

Pregnant? I never knew she was pregnant and she never told me. She couldn't jump into the bin on time because she was pregnant. Now she has been caught.

Tears came down my eyes as I thought of going out. I can't let her suffer alone—we both tried to escape together. But with the way she defended me—"I came out alone. I don't know about any other girl. I want to leave here!!!" I was going to be betraying her and causing her more harm if I stepped out.

Another sharp slap, and I nearly shrieked audibly, but I managed to control myself.

"You will be punished for this!!" my fake husband said. "Find the other one!!" he commanded, and I froze.

Were they going to search the bins now?
