Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: I got what?!!!!

Adelaide sat in her seat, distracted during class. She couldn't stop scratching her head. At first, she thought it was just dry scalp, but the itching persisted. As she discreetly scratched again, her friend Remi noticed and leaned over.

"Addie, are you okay? You're scratching your head nonstop," Remi whispered.

Adelaide hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I don't know, it's just really itchy. Maybe I have dandruff or something."

Remi's eyes narrowed. "Let me take a look." She gently parted Adelaide's hair, and her expression changed. "Oh no, Addie. I think you might have lice."

Adelaide's eyes widened in horror. I got what?!!! "What? No way!" She frantically scratched her head again.

Remi whispered, "We need to tell your mom. She'll know what to do."

The rest of the class was a blur for Adelaide. She couldn't stop thinking about the possibility of having lice. As soon as the bell rang, she and Remi rushed out of the classroom to find a mirror and confirm the unwelcome

Adelaide and Remi rushed to the bathroom to examine her hair more closely. Remi carefully parted Adelaide's hair, searching for any signs of lice or nits. After a few moments, she found something.

"Okay, Addie, I think I see a nit," Remi said gently. "Don't worry, it's treatable. We'll get your mom to take care of it."

Adelaide felt a mix of embarrassment and frustration. She had heard stories about lice outbreaks in school, but she never thought it would happen to her.

When Adelaide got home, she immediately told her mom about the situation. Her mom reassured her that it was common and easily treatable. They headed to the pharmacy to pick up a lice treatment kit.

As they applied the treatment, Adelaide's mom explained the process to Liam and Charlotte, who were curious but also a bit concerned about getting infested themselves. Adelaide felt a bit self-conscious but was relieved to have her family's support.

With the treatment underway, Adelaide's mom reminded her to inform her teacher and the school nurse about the issue, so they could take necessary precautions.

Adelaide felt a bit more at ease knowing she had her family's help and that it was a solvable problem. She just wanted to get rid of the unwelcome visitors in her hair as soon as possible.
