< Miyu is born on January 1st, just so I don't forget and just because. >
The day has been pretty calm. Tsunade is at the hospital doing medical work, Dan is on a mission, Nawaki and Kushina are at the academy, which they should be arriving from soon, and Grandma Mito is writing some things on some scrolls.
I was almost alone in the house, reading some fuinjutsu scrolls; I was already on the verge of starting to make explosive seals, from which I had an incredible idea. That's why I was studying seals and how to make seals with just my hands. Something like the mark of the flying thunder god.
Speaking of that technique, I have to learn it no matter what, at least the one Grandpa Tobirama had.
At that moment, two people walked in, Nawaki and Kushina; one looked very well, the other had cheeks like a chipmunk, looking annoyed and angry.
"Hey, both of you. How was your first day of school?" I asked Kushina.
She just sat next to me and started pouting with a very adorable angry face.
"Let me guess, they made fun of you; let me guess, it was because of your hair color."
"Not only that, but they also made fun of my dream of being the first female Hokage," she said.
"So what did you do?" I asked her.
"Nothing, what else?" she replied.
"Give him what he deserved?" I said.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Nawaki said.
"I can prove to you that hitting is very good for solving problems," I said with a raised fist, using a bit of chakra.
"If violence is the best solution, if you'll excuse me, I'll leave," Nawaki said, fleeing the scene.
The law of the strongest always works.
...
It's been a few months since Kushina entered the academy, and things haven't gone too badly for her, as far as they go. It only took three days for her to start fighting with her classmates and be labeled a tomboy.
But that didn't stop her from gaining admirers—well, one admirer. I think I'd seen a yellow-haired boy not far away when I was with Kushina a few times. She didn't notice, but I did, since he was someone I wanted to meet at some point.
I wasn't going to do anything, since the idea of all this is for it to be natural, unlike my interactions with other adults, where I force something to get something from them.
I should also say that my training in medical jutsu and fuinjutsu has advanced a lot, mostly because I don't have anything else to do; I don't play with any children, I'm at home all day, and I only go out when Kushina wants to go eat or look at something in the village.
The area I've made the most progress in, ironically, is medical jutsu. Not long ago, I was able to revive a fish. I've only studied jutsu, since in terms of medicine, I haven't been able to do anything, only theory, so operating on someone wasn't on my list, at least not now for Tsunade. I don't have much time left to learn the mystic palm and be considered a medical ninja, the youngest on record.
My mother has been very happy to learn that her daughter will follow in her footsteps. Ha, let her keep dreaming; I'm just playing along, but once I enter the academy, bye.
In my fuinjutsu training, I've only managed to successfully perform an explosive seal. Grandma Mito is always there with me, as she can quickly get me out of there when the seal fails and prevent me from dying or being completely burned.
Now that I know all that, I can follow my plan for my own seal technique; I just need to learn how to make a seal by simply touching something.
But theoretically, I already know almost everything: barrier seals, storage seals, sealing seals, release seals, and right now I'm studying the five-element seal, both the separate elements and the five together.
I also know the summoning jutsu; I've practiced it, but I haven't used chakra because I can be summoned in a strange place, not to mention that I might not end up liking the summoning, even though the summoning creature is a good match for you; I'm not interested in that.
Today I felt like going for a walk; something told me that if I did, I would be rewarded.
And so it was, because when I reached the edge of the training grounds, two Root Anbu appeared, fully identifiable by their masks and emotionless speech.
"Nice to meet you, Miyu-sama. Danzo-sama said he wanted to see you and talk to you," said the Root Anbu.
I just put a hand on my hip and looked at him.
"It's about time that one-eyed old man asked me to come over there." "I've been waiting for months, so show me the way." "We're not going with any jutsu; we're walking, since I want to know the way to the root, and if you do anything I don't like, I expect you to face the consequences with torture worse than death, and I tell you, my mother knows how to make weak little men like you scream."
I saw a trace of emotion cross their faces for a moment. They both looked at each other as if trying to communicate with their eyes.
"Follow us closely, Miyu-sama."
And so we walked to the root base, or rather, the sensual base of the one-eyed old man.
A dark, lifeless place. I should clean this dirty, unhygienic place.
After walking for a while, I came to a slightly brighter place. There stood Danzo with a table and two chairs; there was also some juice for someone; it must be for me.
"What took you so long to get here?" He asked, a little annoyed.
"It was my fault. I told them we should walk here; now I know the route to see you. I don't need you to invite me anymore. I can invite myself."
The one-eyed old man seemed a little annoyed that I knew all this and a little surprised that his friends were listening to me. He just sighed and gestured for me to sit down.
When I sat down, I noticed there was also a cake.
"Okay, about your proposal, first of all, what's this super-mega-idea that will make me become a Hokage?" I asked myself.
"That's all you care about, you one-eyed old man; you're boring."
He frowned at me.
"One-eyed old man, it wasn't Uncle Danzo."
I just smiled arrogantly at him.
"My Uncle Danzo would have immediately contacted me and asked me how I was, how my training was going."
He sighed again in defeat.
"That's one of the things you lack, Uncle Danzo: charisma. You have none of it; how are people supposed to follow you? With fear? You'll only make them rebel."
"You think too much for just a little girl."
"And you're hardly fit to be a Hokage," I said as I ate the cake in front of me. "Look, Uncle Danzo, I'll be honest, I don't have any great, super-incredible ideas for becoming Hokage, as I feel you don't have what it takes, since a Hokage looks after and protects the village. If I were in power, I could see you starting wars and wasting manpower recklessly until there were no more ninjas left; that's my humble opinion."
"So, why did you want to meet with me?" He sounded somewhat annoyed.
"Easy, think for a second. If you manage, by some twist of fate, to become Hokage, you need someone to manage this whole place for you, and that's what I'm here for."
"Do you want to take care of the Root bases after me?"
"Exactly. When I become Hokage, or if you die, this place will be leaderless, and in that case, I'll be there; I'll be your successor to take over this place." "Since you have no children or grandchildren, I'll be your heir," I told him with a big smile.
"In other words, you want me to train you and teach you everything without anything in return," said the one-eyed old man.
"No, how could you think of that? Well, yes." I could see a frown forming on his face. "Let's face it, you don't have anyone to pass on what you know, and I'm willing to learn. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to talk to someone once in a while, if ordering your Anbus root around counts as a conversation for you." "I can help you become a better Hokage, so when the old monkey does something wrong, you can be there, lobbying him to resign and take your place."
The one-eyed old man stood up and was about to leave when he turned around and looked at me.
"When you start the ninja academy, come back; that place isn't much use. It's better if I teach you to be a real shinobi myself."
I jumped up from my chair and ran over to him to give him a hug; he didn't refuse, but he didn't return it either.
"Thank you, Uncle Danzo; you won't regret it."
And with all that, I left Root Base very happy, as my plan to become stronger was underway.
About inheriting his position at Root, it's obviously a lie; even he realized I was only doing all this so he could train me and teach me all his jutsu. But it doesn't matter, since the reason he agreed is because he has no one to leave anything to, and who better than the great-granddaughter of his beloved sensei, Tobirama?
Everything was going according to plan. In the end, I arrived home a little late; I made the excuse that I was talking to some grandparents and giving them a little help, so Grandma Mito wouldn't detect any lies in my story, so everyone ended up believing me.
...
After a few days, everything returned to calm; out of sheer boredom, I went to Grandma Mito's place.
After walking through a few hallways, I managed to reach the room where Grandma Mito has been locking herself away for the past few months. He only comes out to eat and to train Kushina and me.
I knocked on the door to hear a "come in," only to walk in and see a pile of scrolls scattered around the place, and in the middle of it all, an old woman slowly but surely writing the contents with a brush and ink.
"What are you doing, Grandma Mito?" I asked out of sheer boredom.
"I'm writing down my knowledge of fuinjutsu in these scrolls." And before I could say anything else, she spoke to me again. "Tell me how Danzo is." I swallowed my words as I listened, and before I could say anything else, she commented again. "How did I know? I felt you leaving with some Anbu Root. Let me tell you, without arrogance, that I'm the best sensor in the Land of Fire." She said with a grandmotherly smile, but with arrogance hidden far behind it.
"He's fine; it's just that social isolation is doing him harm; he should come out and realize that the time of war is over," I told her.
"That brat was really upset that Tobirama gave the position of Hokage to the monkey, but, to be honest, there wasn't a good candidate for it. A great example is my husband: a very good ninja, but as a politician, he really wasn't much good." "The only one who half-saved him was Tobirama, but he still did some weird things."
"They should fix all that," I told her.
"A ninja isn't a politician; a Hokage should be a politician, and only a ninja should be Hokage." What Grandma Mito said made me think for a bit. "If you're going to continue your adventures in Danzo's lair, I just ask that you be careful; I won't stop you, as it might do him more good than it does you."
"I understand, Grandma Mito."
"I don't have much longer to live; I'll soon have to inherit this burden, which is why I'm making these scrolls for you and Kushina. I just ask that when I leave, I want to see that she's still safe and well."
"I understand," she said, her throat tightening. It's no surprise that the person I care most about here is Grandma Mito, and it pains me a little to think about seeing her go.
"Good," she said, stroking my head. "Now go. I have to stay here focused. I'll get back to your studies, since you don't like going out to play with other children."
And with that, I left, with a small determination in my heart.
I returned to my room and looked at the seal scrolls I had on the floor. I had no idea how to make a seal with just the palm of my hands, but seeing what Grandma Mito was doing—passing information from one place to another when she makes a mistake and shouldn't start from scratch—gave me an idea.
What if there's no need to make the seal from scratch but just move it to another place? And with that, I got to work.
