Hachiman's Side
Summer training camp is in its latter half, nearing its end. Coinciding with this, summer festivals are being held around town. Most Tracen Academy students are looking forward to the summer festival. If there's nothing to look forward to, motivation tends to drop. In that sense, this summer festival can be considered a good event. In fact, some members of my team are participating in the festival too.
On the other hand, the student council and public morals committee will have a tough time, but they're the ones enforcing the rules, so it can't be helped. Air Groove is participating in patrols as well.
Hachiman: "Well, it's an event that doesn't concern me, so I don't really mind. I've never participated in a summer festival here before. Come to think of it, Rice and Ardan bought me food the year before last…"

Fuji: "How about it, Hachiman-san, won't you come to the summer festival with us?"
Hachiman: "You two… what's with suddenly coming here and asking to go to the summer festival without any explanation?"
CB: "Because I have my reward from Hachiman, right? Even after camp ends, I'm off to Ireland soon, aren't I? I won't have time to go out and play!"

Fuji: "So, we decided to go while we still could. Air Groove and Bakushin O are on patrol, Rice and Maurice are together at the festival, Arrow said she wasn't interested, and Ardan is with her friends, so it was just Senior CB and me."
Hachiman: "If it's for CB's reward, then I suppose it can't be helped. But are you sure about the summer festival? You could have used it for something else."
CB: "But a summer festival only happens once a year, you know? It's a waste not to go!"
Hachiman: "If you say that, it means I've wasted it about twice already, doesn't it?"
Fuji: "Then we'll just have to enjoy it twice as much, right ♪"
CB: "It's the start of a double date!"
Hachiman: "I'm the only guy here, though?"
—Summer Festival Venue—
CB: "♪~" Hugs tightly!
Fuji: "///" Hugs tightly!
Hachiman: "…"
The stares are piercing… I'm being looked at by students, trainers, and even the stall vendors. Of course, I am; if I'm being hugged like this, there's no way I wouldn't attract attention. It's not like these two would listen if I told them to let go. Fuji used to listen, but ever since she lost the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, she's been acting like CB.
CB: "There are so many different stalls here~ as expected. Hachiman, isn't there anything you want to eat?"
Hachiman: "If there were, I'd be participating. Don't you two? Not just food, but anything you want to do."
Fuji: "Hmm, I'm already enjoying myself enough just like this, so I don't have anything in particular. Besides, I should really be on patrol, but Hishi Amazon told me, 'Go around with your trainer!'"
CB: "Then, why don't we try that?"
CB pointed towards a Senbonbiki lottery. From what I could see, the grand prize hadn't been won yet… I see, a game console, huh. I don't play games anymore. If I won it, I'd just sell it.
Hachiman: "Alright, let's give it a try."
Vendor: "300 yen per try."
Hachiman: "Then, one try each for the three of us, please."
Vendor: "Coming right up, now pick one string each."
Fuji: "What should I choose~?"
CB: "Gotta choose carefully!"
Now, what should I pull… I'd prefer to avoid a pocket tissue, if possible.
CB: "Then I'll go with… this one!"
What CB pulled and won was… a huge water gun. Is this a prize?
Fuji: "Hmm~ then this one, I guess."
Next was Fuji's… something in a small black case.
Hachiman: "…What is that?"
Fuji: "It's a surprise until you open it, I guess? Hachiman-san, have you decided which one you'll pick?"
Hachiman: "…I'll take this one."
What I pulled was… another case. But mine wasn't black; it was a green one.
—Shrine—
CB: "Alright, let's open both your cases~!"
Fuji: "Mine first, then… This is a ring?"
Hachiman: "Looks like it… but it doesn't seem like a toy. Nor is it a brand-name item. Maybe a moderately priced ring?"
Fuji: "I see~… Hey, will you put it on me?"
Hachiman: "Eh, me?"
Fuji: "Yep ♪"
Hachiman: "…By the way, which finger should I put it on?"
Fuji: "Hmm~… The ring finger on my left hand would be fine too, you know?"
Hachiman: "It's not like we're getting engaged."
I put the ring on Fuji's left middle finger.
Fuji: "Thank you, Hachiman-san. Alright, next is Hachiman-san's case. It looks green…"
Hachiman: "Yeah… Wonder what's inside."
Opening the case and looking inside, what was there was a green and yellow ear cuff.
Hachiman: "It's an ear cuff, and specifically for Uma Musume."
Fuji: "Oh~ but what will you do with it? I'm already wearing one, and you can't wear it because of your size…"
CB: "Put it on me, Hachiman ♪ I'm only wearing a hat, and an ear ornament wouldn't get in the way ♪ Right, right ♪"
Hachiman: "…That's true. Alright, I'll put it on CB then."
I put the green and yellow ear cuff on CB's right ear. It matched her hat's color, so it looked quite nice.
After that, the three of us watched the fireworks before disbanding. We didn't do many "summer festival-like" things, but for me, I decided this was good enough.
