Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: The Beginning. (Part1)

General POV.

But before that, Cole decided to first get out of this damn forest, get a place to stay, and then he can think of jumpstarting his memories.

His only worry was how to get out of here. More importantly, which way to take because to him, he was in the middle of nowhere and choosing to walk the wrong way could take him deeper into this forest.

He had to find a way.

He had actually tried to access the internet the way the original Bloodshot could, yet there was nothing.

No electromagnetic tech waves, no nothing.

So either this world was way too advanced that they didn't use something like the internet, or... there was no technology at all.

Which was extremely concerning, but that is a problem for later, for now, he had to get the fuck out of this forest.

And the moment he that thought appeared in his mind, his world view changed to red, like the infra-red but way more clear.

His eyes glowed red as his vision started zooming in on the direction he was facing, his vision bending to dodge trees, something that should be impossible.

After all, from a very young age, he had been fed the laws of physics in school and one of them being, 'Light travels in a straight line.'

But his eyes didn't seem to follow this rule as he zoomed in mapping out this whole part of the forest, in the sides of his vision, he could see a number, 1265m that was rapidly increasing.

Meaning this was the length at which his vision had zoomed in.

A whole fucking kilometer of bent light, and this wasn't even the best part, this wasn't the limit because his vision was still expanding.

Until eventually, the number reached at 5000m.

But that wasn't the end, and no matter how ecstatic Cole was right now, his mind seemed to work instinctively according to his wishes, no delays.

Since he hadn't seen any wild animals or even the end of the forest in that side of the forest, he felt a pulse of energy rising through his chest to the eyes, and the next second, a red pulse passed through his eyes.

Like he could practically see a pulse of red passing through his vision until it reached his limit of 5 kilometers, however, the pulse didn't stop, it continued on, its end unknown.

However, what happened later made him even more ecstatic.

A holographic Hud, showing all heat signatures in that direction, their size, their potential species, distance from Cole, and probability of attack appeared on his peripheral.

All appearing in his sight, and truth be told, it was overwhelming, or that is what it would have felt like if he didn't have a supercomputer for a brain right now.

He didn't even feel an ounce of uncomfortability, only ecstacy for the new abilities he had gained.

And so with a huge grin on his face, he turned slowly and made a 360 degree turn so he could map out at least 25 kilometers in area all around him.

And according to his statistics on the concentration difference of the wild animals in the forest, he could theorize which way was out.

He didn't even take a minute to think, after all his brain had already thought about it like a thousand times already with different stimulations and he had at least an 80% chance that he was right.

If for some reason he wasn't, well, it wouldn't hurt to have some tour around the forest.

So with a deep breath, he dashed out like a bullet. One moment he was standing there, and in another moment, he was nowhere to be seen.

He was so fast he was surprised, because according to his statistics, he was travelling at the speed of sound.

The weird part however was the fact that there wasn't a sonic boom for breaking the sound barrier, no nothing, just the silence of the wind.

Plus the fact was that this wasn't even his top speed, after all he was in a forest and he had to dodge trees, but if he was on a straight path?

In just a few seconds he was a couple of kilometers from his first wild animal he would meet after his reincarnation.

So he paused with a start, silently observing the animal from a far.

The confusing issue he had noticed was the fact that he couldn't recognize most of the species he had identified in the forest.

Which was saying something since he was a person who prided himself in knowing a lot about the wild.

At first he took it as the difference in worlds, but when he found that at least 98% of the animals in the forest were unrecognizable, it was when he really understood that this world was vastly different from his.

He wasn't sure how strong he was right now, but he was sure the system wouldn't outright make him overpowered from the very beginning.

Meaning that even with how strong he was right now, he should probably be in the intermediate category of strength... probably.

But right now, he had to check how strong he was so he could make a few statistics of his strength and weaknesses and how to improve himself.

And it seemed he was in luck, this animal would act as an experiment. It looked like a boar but was vastly different with long horns and claws instead of hooves.

It seemed to be resting under a hollow tree, unfortunately for it however, it was about to meet the almighty God, if he was even ever there to begin with.

With a small sigh, Cole took a breathe and then disappeared, appearing before the boar animal thingy a second later.

Now a normal animal, even the fastest ones like the cheetahs could never even see him coming, at least that is what is normal.

But the moment Cole appeared a few meters away from the animal thingy, it immediately opened its eyes and stood up alert, swinging its claws towards him.

It was fast. Faster than any animal should be able to.

Cole was shocked, he was too shocked he didn't react in time and the claw tore through his arm like a hot knife through butter.

It was the sharp pain in his left arm that jogged him out of his reverie.

The boar animal wasn't even anywhere near finished, it seemed hell bent on destroying the dude that just interrupted its nap.

Now Cole could understand that as he was also one of those people who liked his nap more than life, so he couldn't really blame the animal.

What made him pause however was the fact that a mere animal could react to a speed near the speed of sound.

And although he was now a man machine and he should be able to control his emotions, you have to remember he was just a normal dude just a few minutes before.

Someone can't just acclimate himself to change in just a few minutes.

And although he seemed to be happy about the reincarnation, the knowledge that he had just died and resurrected isn't something one can just ignore.

Plus he was using the knowledge of his past life to simulate this encounter, and in all his simulations, the boar shouldn't have reacted to this amount of speed he used.

Good thing however is that this had just opened his eyes to the fact that he was in a new fucking world with new fucking rules.
