"The Mokèlé-mbèmbé is born from the union of spirits and the river born of earth. It feeds on the power of the water and protects entrances to the Spirit Realm by killing anyone who dares get too close. Even animals are not spared from the rage of the Mokèlé-mbèmbé once found in its territory. As long as we stay away from its place of birth, we will not have any issues with this supernatural. They are easy to get along with and can even be considered friendly and helpful to those who harbor neither greed for its territory nor fear towards its inhuman form," Mary answered after a few seconds. She only gave them basic information about the being, but it was all they needed to work with the creature. From the way Mary spoke about the supernatural creature, there was a possibility that there was not just one of these creatures.
"Do you know where its home is so that we can avoid going there by mistake?" Cate asked a few more questions until she heard someone moving towards them. She raised her hand and everyone became attentive. The Huma Bird shot into the sky, and it would stay there until they were ready to return to the Immortal Realm. The Huma Bird could fly for its entire life without ever stepping on the earth. It would therefore not be a problem for the bird to wait for them from the sky.
After a few seconds, a large tree was pushed to the side and the Mokèlé-mbèmbé appeared before them. The creature had a long neck, the body of an elephant, large compound eyes, six tusks with some on its head and others growing along its back, and it had nine legs that pressed the earth into flatness. The creature also had translucent, water-like skin. There were movements very similar to waves all over its skin.
As it moved towards the group, the creature looked down at them in the same manner as how humans looked down on the insects crawling over the earth. This was not disrespect but a simple matter of size. The Mokèlé-mbèmbé was simply far larger than the humans, and its head was high in the tree branches. Cate looked at the creature with wonder in her eyes. She had seen many supernatural beings, but the Mokèlé-mbèmbé was certainly unique.
The creature glowed with a bright blue light, and in the next moment, it transformed into the form of a young human man. He was naked and his dark skin glowed in the sunlight. "I am Mokèlé-mbèmbé," he said with a smile on his face. It was hard to see how such a kind and carefree being would ever kill a living thing.
"I will guide you to the pyramid." Mokèlé-mbèmbé spoke in the Language of the Spirits. Fortunately, Cate understood him perfectly, and so did Mary and Albrecht. Only the Mage Born and Jordan did not understand the Spirit Tongue.
Mokèlé-mbèmbé did not speak much. He led the group through the forest. Wherever he passed, the land became soaked and a swamp was soon formed. They walked for thirty minutes before Mokèlé-mbèmbé stopped moving. "This is the pyramid that showed up out of nowhere. I hope you can deal with it as fast as possible. The humans of this land are very curious. It will not be long before they come this way."
After saying this, Mokèlé-mbèmbé transformed into his true form and walked away. After taking just a few steps, he merged with the trees and the land, disappearing. Cate believed that even if she wanted to look for him, she would not be able to find him as long as he did not want to be found.
"Where is the pyramid that this creature is speaking of?" Albrecht asked with irritation in his voice. He had been ignored for too long, and he was beginning to grow murderous over the disrespect. Cate could feel this irritation, but she did not care.
"You are a vampire but you do not even know how to use your eyes." Cate raised her hands and grabbed the space before her. She sent her will into the magic of the world and moved it as she wished. She pulled her hand down, and there was a tear in reality. The veil that was covering the pyramid was removed. She quickly moved towards the pyramid and stopped a few meters away. "Hurry up before the veil goes back up!" she cried out.
Cate had just permanently removed the veil that had been put up by Mokèlé-mbèmbé. She still needed the pyramid hidden from the humans. A few seconds after the entire group crossed over, the veil went back up and the pyramid was once again hidden from the world.
Finally, everyone could enjoy the beauty of the structure before them. It was indeed a pyramid, but quite different from the ones the world knew about. This pyramid was over eight hundred feet tall. It had a clear entrance on one side, and on each side of the entrance, there were statues of bird-headed men. These statues carried Heqa Scepters. The Heqa Scepter was just a fancy shepherd's staff, but in the hands of these two statues, these simple weapons gave off auras that suffocated everything in the surroundings.
Cate was amazed by this pyramid. She had never seen anything like this, yet she had visited Egypt and entered all the pyramids there, including those not yet discovered by humans. She had never before seen anything like this. She was about to cast a spell to sense for any abnormal living entities within when she finally realized something she had missed till now.
After using the Original Sin spell, Cate had gained the ability to see the flow of the world's magic. She had seen a lot of magic in Avalon and had gotten used to it, but she had forgotten that Avalon was in the Immortal Realm. It was only natural for there to be a lot of magic around, but this was the human world, and yet this pyramid was giving off so much magic that when she looked at it, she did not see the walls. She only saw magic. Each stone used in the construction of this pyramid had been created by condensing magic and giving it form.
Cate was still analyzing the pyramid when she noticed that a lot of magic had began flowing into the statues. She did not have time to warn the others before the statues came to life.
