Chapter 1 - The ones i can't stand

I shouldn't have drunk so much last night.

But it was the last day of summer break, Ricky throws the wildest parties, and I needed the distraction.

The alarm wouldn't shut up.

I sat up, winced, then stared at the ceiling like it owed me an apology.

My head was pounding and did i Regret it ? Not really. Annoyed? Absolutely.

"Get up, drama queen," Kaelmy wolf said .

I rolled my eyes. "Says the wolf who encouraged round four of shots."

"And I regret nothing".

I got out of bed and headed to the closet.

Even with a hangover, I don't walk out looking basic.

Pulled on a fitted black shirt, chain to match it and jeans.

I looked good. Obviously.

Downstairs was a whole different vibe.

The moment I saw them my father and David, both at the table I instantly lost my appetite.

"Ignore them", Kael muttered. "You've got training today."

I sat down , i needed energy for training.

"Young Master Eli," Ava said gently as she placed a tray down. "I made your favorite."

She was the only person in this house I could stand and didn't want to kill .

"Thanks, Ava," I said, flashing her a smile.

Then, as always, it went downhill.

"Where were you last night?"

Dad's voice.

I didn't bother looking up. "out."

"That late?" he said. "Why can't you be more like your brother?"

I clicked my tongue, then slowly raised my head.

"You mean the leech? Who spends someone else's family money and pretends it's his own?"

"Eli," Kael warned.

"Don't worry," I said. "Grades are still top-notch. Not that anyone here notices unless I'm messing up."

"ELI SINCLAIR "

"Don't say my name like i said anything bad ."

David, of course, had to play peacemaker. "It's not worth arguing."

I gave him a sharp look. " You existing isn't worth it either, yet here we are."

I stood up, snatched my bag, and was halfway out before Ava spoke again.

"You didn't touch your food."

"I'm not starving," I muttered.

Outside, Liam's car was waiting by the gate.

He didn't even look surprised as he handed me a lunchbox the second I got in.

"You know me so well," I said, fake-fluttering my lashes.

"Because you never eat before school," he replied flatly.

He wasn't wrong.

We drove off, listening to music .

"You good?" Kael asked.

"Define good," I answered.
