Chapter 150 - sample chapter

A/n: hey guys, please check out this chapter and give me your thoughts in detail if you can.

In a fiend in the desert, two figures walked on the golden sand.

One was a child of about twelve with an innocent smile on his face, holding the hand of a man with dark skin and closed eyes.

"Thank you for choosing me, sir. I never thought I would be adopted," the child chirped, swinging their joined hands. The man gave no reply.

"Mother Superior always said no one wanted me because I didn't believe in the 'real' God."Still, the man walked in silence.

The boy ducked his head. "Sorry… I talk too much."

Only the wind answered.

After some time of walking they reached a stone platform were the man lead the child to sit and sat in front of the child himself.

The platform had a sun disk with forty two golden shimmering rays carved into it.

The man then took out a wooden box with the face of a jackal carved into it and placed in beside himself.

He then took out a weighing scale and placed it beside the box.

The men extended his hand and gently stroked the child's hair.

"Forgive me. I promise it won't hurt." The man whispered and moved his hand towards the child's chest.

When the man pulled his hand back there was a little beating heart in his palm.

The child looked at the sight, his mouth agape as he patted his chest and saw no wound, neither feeling any pain.

"See? I told you." The man said and opened his eyes for the first time since he had met the child.

A single tear fell from the dark eyes of the man, sorrow for an inncocent life cut too short.

"Please, don't cry sir." The child said and wiped away the tear with his little hand.

"Anubis.. call me Anubis, child." The man said and held the child's hand tenderly before gently leading the child to sit again.

It was his burden to carry souls to their ultimate destinies. Whenever he would meet the soul of an innocent child, his heart weapt.

He would close his eyes to stop the tears and walk in silence so his voice does not tremble with the sorrow in his heart.

Anubis carried out his burden and opened the wooden box and took out a white feather from it.

He gently placed the heart on one side of the scale and the feather on the other side of the scale.

The scales tilted and the heart came out to be lighter then the feather.

The result formed a smile of Anubis's face.

Anubis stood up and gently held up the child by his hand, helping him get up again.

He looked at the direction ahead and a golden door appeared in front of them.

Anubis knelt to the child's level and bushed his hair with his hand.

"Rest there, little one. I promise there will be no pain and no sadness there." Anubis said and gently kissed the child's forehead before leading him towards the door.

Just as they started walking a tremer passed through the desert realm, kicking up sand and causing the earth to shake.

Anubis held the child to protect him and looked around to see what had caused the tremor.

The sky split open at that moment and two giant figures appeared in the sky.

One was a golden dragon with a long, slender tail and wings with platinum tips.

The other was a five headed dragon that snarled as the two dragons fought in the sky.

The five headed dragon bit the golden dragon with its vicious jaw, causing blood to flood from the would.

The golden dragon used its platinum tipped claws to wound the five headed dragon as well, making the dragon bleed.

The blood of the two mixed and fell all around the desert, painting the sand red.

Anubis shielded the child but some blood still fell on the child, making the soul glow a radiant golden and red light.

The soul glowed and, like a shooting star plucked from the night sky, the soul was shot into another rift in the sky.

Anubis tried to stop the soul but the energy was too powerful even for him. The soul's destiny had been re-written and he was powerless against it.

"What did you do? Where is he?" Anubis roared and his face transformed into that of a jackal as he jumped and launched himself at the two dragons.

However, The Jackal-headed god was too late and the fighting dragons were sucked into another rift and disappeared from the realm.

| Faerûn , near the sword mountains |

The collapse had left the cavern raw and open to the night. A ragged hole yawned in the foothills of the Sword Mountains, its edges scorched with golden sigils that still glimmered faintly in the dark.

A bronze dragon came tumbling out of the sky in a half-glide, half-crash, wings clipping a ridge before he righted himself with a sheepish roar.

The dragon had not meant to land there so he stood up and shook the dust off of his body and moved to soar through the sky again.

He paused as his superior hearing caught a sound coming from the hole a little distance away, It was the sound of an infant's cry.

The dragon peared his head into the hold and found an underground cavern.

The cavern had housed a village that laid in ruins with bodies of drow scattered in the area.

The broze dragon padded forward, claws scraping stone as he entered the cavern and bowed once.

"Ah… poor folk," he murmured, in a heavy voice "Too many voices silenced before their time." he whispered before moving towards where he was hearing the voice from.

The saw a drow infant laying in a rubble of a hut with the body of a drow woman covering the infant's body in a protective manner.

The infant had a red ankh symbol on his chest that gleamed when the dragon neared the infant.

"Greeting, Little one. I am Felgolos." The dragon greeted the infant, expecting no response as he used magic to scoop up the infant and placed him on his head.

"Well, lets find a drow settlement for you to live at." felgolos muttered and moved to exit the cavern.

'pardon my intrusion, little one' Felgolos flinched and looked around as he heard those words in his head.

"Who are you?" Felgolos shouted as he looked around and moved the child down to protect him.

'You see, this child had his fate altered because of me,' the voice continued.

Felgolos suddenly found himself transported to a dark space with a gold dragon standing in front of him.

Felgolos was not weak, in fact he was as powerful as ancient dragons when he was just 40 years old, but this gold dragon was no mere mortal and he even induced a sence of awe in the normally fearless Felgolos.

"You want me to raise him?" Felgolos asked, getting a nod from the gold dragon.

"He is a drow child, I don't know how to raise children." Felgolos stated firmly.

'I am certain you can get help.' The gold dragon said.

"Well.. I do know someone.." Felgolos muttered, getting a chuckled from the gold dragon.

A scroll appeared in front of felgolos after a moment.

'Use this and he will help you.' The gold dragon stated as if he knew who Felgolos was talking about.

'I have some things for when the child grows up as well. Now.. what is it that you want?' The gold dragon added.

Felgolos would have helped the kid for free but he wasn't going to let this opportunity pass by.

"Well.. I want. Um" felgolos started but ended up stretching his head.

What would he want? Nothing really came to mind in that moment.

"Well, just.. keep my parents safe." Felgolos said with the draconic equivalent of a shrug.

'You three have my blessing.. and here is a gift from me.' The gold dragon said and Felgolos could feel his magical strength and control increase.

"What is this?" Felgolos asked, looking at the ring the gold dragon had gifted him.

'It is called the ring of controlled descent." The gold dragon said and Felgolos returned to where he was previously.

Felgolos looked at the ring, before putting it on his finger with a nod.

"You are a special one are'nt you?" Felgolos said, nudging the baby with his snout lightly, earning a giggle from the baby.
