Evric frowned slightly, his protective instincts for the boy flaring up. He didn't like the idea of Liam being so far away, even with his mother. He looked at Zayn, his gaze serious. "What if Liam stays back with us? he asked quietly. "Does he really have to go with her? Can't he just… stay?"
Zayn looked at him softly, reaching out to brush a stray hair from Evric's forehead. "I don't think that's a good idea, babe. Liam is still so young; it wouldn't be right to take him away from his mother completely."
Evric didn't pull away, but he tightened his hold on the boy, pulling him into a protective embrace. "I just don't want him to go, Zayn. I want him here."
Zayn smiled, though he shook his head gently. "It wouldn't be fair to Meera, Evric. She stayed behind and delayed her move just so I could spend this extra time with him. After all that, telling her to leave him behind now... it wouldn't be cool, babe. We have to respect her as his mother."
