"Babe," I said, caught off guard by the question.
"I just need to know," he pressed, his eyes locked on mine. "Do you still feel anything for her?"
I looked at him, my gaze steady and sincere. "Babe, I feel nothing for her. She's in my past. I just think we need to talk things through now that the truth is out. You have nothing to worry about." I reached up, gently stroking his cheek. "So let go of all those unnecessary thoughts."
Evric stared at me for a long moment, processing my words, before his tension eased. A warm, beautiful smile broke through. "Okay, baby."
The crisis averted, the mood instantly lightened. We were silent for a moment, and I realized where the conversation was about to go next: Nantam.
I decided to veto the discussion. I stood up. "I don't want to talk about that right now," I said. "I'm going to prepare dinner."
Evric stood up with me, sliding his arms around my waist. "I'll help you," he offered.
