With every step Septimus took towards the back of the castle, the presence grew stronger, heavier, pressing against his senses. His heart pounded violently at the thought of something evil breaking through the barrier.
Soon, he found himself in the heart of the deserted courtyard, only to see Solan already standing there, glowing like a star. His senses must have detected the threat as well. After all, the stronger the lumen, the more sensitive they were to the presence of dark magic.
He made his way to his king at once. "Your Majesty, I sense great danger emanating from that mountain. What do you think could cause such a presence?"
Solan's expression was grim as his eyes, now glowing white, remained fixed on the distant peak where his late wife was buried.
"I can feel it," Solan said quietly. "It is coming from the same mountain where Selene rests."
