He finally moved his sinful lips and said "Hm, I'll help you catch up with your studies" he said, pausing for a moment before continuing "I don't usually do this....help, I mean. But since your progress also affects me, that's the only reason I'll help you this time."

"Though, Princess, there are a couple of things I need you to keep in mind, before we move forward."

When she nodded he continued, "I don't like wasting time. So when I call, you come. I don't appreciate anyone being intrusive about my matters, so I'd prefer if you keep any curious thoughts to yourself."

"And lastly..,"

He leaned in slightly, maintaining steady eye contact with her. His voice dropped to a low, almost warning tone. "Don't fall in love with me. I don't do love. And the minute I find you show any signs of clinginess… that's when you'll pay the price."

"My payment would be…your blood."

His eyes suddenly turned serious as he continued, "You shall never offer your blood to anyone else throughout your academic years...meaning you will never serve anyone else."

Eve stood stunned, her breath caught in her throat as she waited for him to finish. Then he leaned in, his lips barely an inch from hers, and whispered, "Except me."

The only word that kept echoing in her mind was 'blood'....and she could see she was becoming something rare in his eyes.

"Huh?" She flinched slightly at the sound of her name and finally looked up at him, only to see his hand pause mid-air near her before curling into a fist as he withdrew it.


Eve caught the brief flash of surprise and the tinge of hurt in his eyes as he began to lower his hand, so she reached out suddenly and grasped it on her own.


Ivan felt just how cold her fingers were and continued to study her before speaking in a quiet voice, "Maybe we should-"


"No!" Eve exclaimed, her heart lurching at having an idea of what his suggestion might be.


"Don't…" she whispered. She blushed like a thousand suns but kept her anxious eyes on the man she loved so dearly, realizing how foolishly she was reacting. She wanted to be with him so much that it hurt, yet her naive nerves had momentarily taken over, making her seem as though she did not want it at all.
