Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Malevolence (VIII)

[Coordinates received. Destination: K-13. Abregado System. Cloaking disengaged. Initiating hyperdrive. Time remaining: 1:05:00.] Adam stated. I could see his artificial face on the cockpit's control panel. He was currently in control of the ship. I hadn't received those flight lessons yet from him, so I allowed Adam to stay in control for now. By doing so, I had more free time on our hands. There was a little over an hour before we arrived. Like I stated before, there isn't much to do while we're in a state like this. Stars were already beginning to fly past in a blink of an eye.

But this time, I wasn't alone. I saw a reddish-orange colored girl standing beside me, leaning against the ship. We had a short exchange earlier while boarding my gunship, but I could see her tension lessen. She was cold at first, not wanting to interact much. But the moment she laid eyes on my gunship, she grew more curious, seeing how my gunship operated. This girl hailed from the Togruta race, to which varied quite greatly of what type of color they had on their skin.

Ahsoka's was more common. This could range from blue to purple to even red, white and yellow. I think white Togruta are extremely rare? The Togruta are known for their adaptability, being able to camouflage themselves from threats, depending on where their tribes are located. Very similar to how chameleons behave in my previous life. I recall a striking individual whose color was red, Jedi Master Shaak Ti. She oversees the production of clones on Planet Kamino. With me being exposed to the clones' trust so early like this, they could put in a good word for me. I'm sure this will eventually be relayed to Master Shaak Ti, considering she's practically their overseer.

I can already see a potential path for me to take down the line. And this girl here will have a few excursions to Planet Kamino. Seeing her interest remain, I smiled.

"Thanks for giving me the coordinates. With an initial area to search, it will cut down on some wasted time. We don't have to search blindly. I know that could take all day, to which we don't have the luxury to afford.", I said, thanking Ahsoka.

"It wasn't much. I'm afraid this is as much as I can do until we know for sure the area to check. Contact with Master Plo was cut off so abruptly. We don't even know the state his fleet is in. I'm expecting the worst. But with a ship like yours, it shouldn't take long to find them. I really wasn't expecting to see you have an autonomous ship like this. Seriously, these things are expensive. I'm talking about millions of credits here.", Ahsoka said, praising my gunship for what it's worth.

"Is that right?", I replied, musing to her knowledge. That's good to know. Makes me even more secure now that I will not put my gunship up for collateral, like ever. That's a line I'm never willing to cross. "Anyways, you can rest assured that I'm taking this mission very seriously. It's now bound by a contract, and those I never break. Why don't you make yourself at home? Once we're exiting hyperspace, we'll begin our search.", I stated.

"That works for me. And I meant what I said earlier. I'll be watching you. I know there are a lot of bounty hunters in your same position that earn an honest living, but there's many you can't trust so easily. Master would have shot you down immediately if you hadn't already earned Master Yoda's trust.", Ahsoka said.

"Point received.", I replied, not shrugging her off. Ahsoka does have a point here. If I didn't let things happen the way it did, there's no way I would have had such an easy time approaching major Jedi like this. Ahsoka was right to remain wary, she still doesn't know me, let alone anyone else who does. I've only been here in Star Wars for a little over a couple weeks. Not even a full month or two had passed. I'm still a no-name.

As the saying goes, the grind never stops~ It's going to take a long time to reach the top!

With a hiss of a door opening, I saw Ahsoka vanish from my cockpit. My face remained on Adam's AI image, who just remained quiet during our exchange.

"So what do you think, Adam? Does this match any records in your database from the Federation?", I asked in a low voice.

[None. Not a single record relates to the alien who is cooperating with you. Ahsoka Tano, is her name? I know the galaxy is a wide place and there was much left to be discovered, but we really are treading unknown waters here.] Adam said to me, confirming his doubt.

"So we're in agreement then. Our mission this time isn't as easy as destroying a single battalion of droids in a game of cat and mouse. There's a super weapon lurking in the Abregado System which has the ability to render this ship useless through a massive emp blast. I want you to remain on maximum security. Keep everything locked, shields up, and be ready to engage combat in a moment's notice.", I declared, giving Adam his new orders.

[Understood, Samus. The mission also details the procuring of data for the Jedi Council of this weapon. You have two main tasks. Rescue any surviving life-forms, and determine the position of this weapon. Any objections, lady?], Adam asked.

"None.", I replied, smiling.

[Good. Your previous upgrades remain online. Seeker and Super Missiles. Ice Beam, Ice Missiles and Ice Diffusion. To assist with the recovery process, the Ship Grapple Beam is now online. Gravity Suit, Gravity Booster, and Space Jump Boots are also online. Your suit has built-in air control. You should be able to fly directly through outer space as long as the Power Suit remains charged. Current full charge is 24 hours. Further upgrade to the suit is possible. Good luck.] Adam said, wishing me good luck on this second mission. I was taken aback by what he said.

All of a sudden, I felt a weird and yet soothing energy sweep around my entire body. On the outside, I let it do its thing. So I really can change my types of suits, just like that, huh? Now I'm even more comfortable without having received a system or something. Let alone the gunship, being able to freely switch suits around is overpowered, no? The sleek orange highlights suddenly had its panels rapidly retreat back into itself, only lasting for a brief moment. New panels showed up. The yellow interior remained. But what replaced the sleek orange design was a vibrant violet color. I also felt something new on my back. It was basically a compressed jetpack. A bit different from what I could recall.

"Are you seriously saying this can let me freely move around in outer space?", I questioned, still doubtful.

[Due to the overlapping similarities of the technology you acquired from the Chozo and Luminoth, I was able to upgrade these abilities. Your free movement is no longer restricted to just water. This should allow you to tread through any obstacles. And with the upgrade to your Gravity Suit, you will no longer take heavy damage from high heat. It should allow you to traverse through molten lava, and other hazardous waste without much issue. Do keep in mind that it only is in effect while your suit is charged.] Adam explained, causing me to turn silent while hearing that.

"Got it. I'll have to use this sparingly. The Ship Grapple Beam should be enough. And it's possible we might not be alone either. Be ready for space pirates.", I stated.

[Understood.] Adam said, concluding this conversation. I sat back in my seat, letting out a drawn sigh.

It begs the question, just how much can this Power Suit do? If it has the Light Suit, could I block droid tank beams outright? Will blasters be reduced to nothing? Hell, could even lightsabers cut through it? I really want to find out how durable this suit can be.

The Malevolence should be lurking once we arrive. I believe it didn't leave the star system. We'll have to tread carefully. This ship can detect any sort of signal from any type of droid. Adam isn't one, and I have zero droids inside the gunship, but I don't know if Adam's signature will trigger a reaction or not.

But if it does, and a clash becomes inevitable, General Grievous should be on that ship.

If I'm speaking honestly here, I can relate to General Grievous in more ways than one. We're both cybernetic-enhanced beings. The one difference is that General Grievous opted to lose most of his biological parts, while mine remained. Surgery took place when Samus's Power Suit became infected with X Parasites, only to realize it was bonding with Samus on the molecular level. Courtesy of Metroid DNA injected by the Federation, Samus survived, and is now thriving on Metroid and X Parasite DNA. Something that I still need to look into, because I don't have that style of Power Suit. It didn't get stuck to my body. I can freely take it on and off. If all of the events of Metroid Fusion are complete, then I should have absorbed the Omega Metroid the X recreated already. Perhaps that's why?

Who knows, but if I'm one side of the coin, then General Grievous definitely the other. Samus hunted and destroyed space pirates, becoming a ruthless bounty hunter. General Grievous hunted and killed Jedi. Do I have what it takes to be like that?

I'd need that kind of mindset if I'm to not get trampled on inside lawless zones like the Hutt Space.

Conflicted about whether or not it'd be a good idea to encounter General Grievous, Adam didn't say anything, nor did Ahsoka come back into the cockpit. The hour began to pass by before I realized it. My train of thought ended the moment I heard Adam speak up, announcing our arrival.

[Now exiting hyperspace in three...two...one...] Adam began to say.
