The cursed chamber was becoming familiar.
Aegis stood in the center of the room, the stone circle beneath her feet humming with ambient energy. A construct had formed moments ago, but Kanna had cut it down before it could fully materialize. She and Scarlett were taking turns, treating the endless spawns like a workout routine.
But tonight, it was Aegis's turn.
Nazraya circled Aegis slowly, her red eyes gleaming in the low light. She'd been down here for an hour already, watching Aegis fail over and over again.
"You're thinking too hard," Nazraya said. "Shadow magic isn't about precision. It's about intent."
"I have intent."
"You have frustration. That's different."
Aegis gritted her teeth and raised her hand again.
Shadow Tendril. An intermediate spell. Similar to Umbral Grasp, which she'd already learned, but more versatile. Where Umbral Grasp was a single targeted hold, Shadow Tendril created multiple appendages that could move independently.
