Technically, this could still be something else.
That was what Riley tried to tell himself as he carefully continued forward, doing his best to avoid the flames licking across the walls and floor.
After all, dragonkind had existed for an absurdly long time, and considering the number of beings who could've possibly hated them throughout that ridiculously extensive history, the likelihood of them having other enemies and experiencing similar disasters really wasn't that low.
So technically, this could've been an entirely different burning dragon estate.
One that had absolutely nothing to do with his mate.
Unfortunately, despite that perfectly reasonable attempt at calming himself down, Riley's steps only grew faster until he was practically sprinting through the burning corridors.
Because real or not, he wasn't about to take any chances.
Especially when he started seeing the bodies.
