Chapter 2 - The Serpent in UA.

The second she opened the door, the room went completely silent, as if someone pressed pause on the world.

heels clicked against the tile floor as the tall girl walked in like she owned the place, ignoring the confused looks and gawking faces around her. her designer coat swaying slightly behind her like a cape, the faint scent of perfume leaving a trail behind her.

most students blinked in surprise. a few whispered.

but three of them froze for entirely different reasons.

Tokoyami's shoulders stiffened, his feathers slightly puffing up without him noticing. his eyes narrowed, and his arms stayed crossed, almost like shielding himself. "Snake…." He utters to himself

Shoji, who never usually flinched at anything, suddenly tensed. his extra limbs twitched. something felt wrong. not dangerous… not exactly. just off.

and Koda, the poor thing, who barely made eye contact with anyone, shrank further into himself, glancing around like he didn't know why his skin was crawling.

none of them said a word. no one else seemed to notice. not even Aizawa.

Morgana didn't notice either. or maybe she did. and just didn't care.

her eyes lazily scanned the class, pausing on a blonde boy in the back who looked like a firework ready to explode.

„Yuck… this is the place?" she muttered, clearly loud enough for everyone to hear, even though her mouth was barely open.

some girl with earjacks leaned over and whispered, „what's with her…?"

„Who even dresses like that to school?" another voice said.

„Tch. like she's putting on a show or something."

„Bet she's one of those rich kids nobody invited."

before anyone else could talk, Aizawa finally spoke up from his yellow sleeping bag.

„You're late."

„Oh, sorry, I forgot this place was punctual. You know, explosions on the sidewalk and random creatures running the admin office tend to mess with your sense of time."

Aizawa gave her a flat look. „Find a seat. You're disrupting my nap."

She gave a mock salute, her lips curled into a half grin. „Yes sir, loud and clear, happy to be here."

as she moved to the only empty seat in the front row, her eyes drifted toward Tokoyami again, who was still staring, completely still. her gaze lingered just long enough to make it feel intentional, and then she turned away, sitting down and crossing her legs like she was in a press conference.

„this is gonna be a long year," Kaminari mumbled under his breath.

Just as he said that, bell slammed through the room, sharp and sudden, like a warning shot. Aizawa peeled himself out of his stupid yellow sleeping bag, rubbing his eyes like he hadn't slept in a decade. "Alright, show me what you got. Quirk demos first."

The room buzzed, voices rising and falling like a swarm of bees ready to sting. I stayed back, fingers lightly shaking on the desk, watching the chaos like it was some sort of circus.

When it was my turn, I stood up slow, like I owned every second of it. Heads turned, eyes slicing through me like I was some kind of freak. They didn't see me only the flashy outer layer, I simply meet their gazes with an annoyed expression.

I shut my eyes. A green fog rolled in, thick and heavy, wrapping around the room like smoke from a dying fire. It smelled sharp mint and moss, but with something rotten underneath. Whispers crawled through the air, like fingers tracing down spines. The floor rippled beneath their feet, as if it wasn't even real.

I opened my eyes. Illusions spilled out, twisting and writhing. Shadows bent into shapes that made no sense. Laughter echoed softly, but no one laughed. Cold breath ghosted at the backs of necks. Some blinked. Reached out, trying to hold something real.

Tokoyami's Dark Shadow shrank back, uneasy. Shoji's limbs twitched like they had a mind of their own. Koda looked ready to bolt, eyes wide but frozen. The others? Just confused.

"Saionji," Aizawa's voice cut through the haze, sharp and tired. "Enough."

I smiled, a smile that doesn't quite reach my face.

What a royal fucking pain, he just had to catch on to my quirks true nature, still, I guess I'll have to put on an act.

With a teasing smile I grin as I utter. „Just a little taste. Don't wanna scare everyone on day one."

He sighed, frustrated. "Smoke and mirrors won't get you anywhere here."

"Is that so….?" I said, whilst shrugging. "But making them uncomfortable? That's more than enough, is it not?." I uttered while I maintain my grin, and my quirk's power swirls even more, as the whispers even swirled louder now and the room felt as if the room had fallen a few degrees colder.

Aizawa sighed like he already regretted letting me in. "Illusions don't win fights. Remember that."

"Sure," I said, brushing a bit of fog off my shoulder like dust. "But they sure help you pick out who's paying attention." I mutter half heartedly, still keeping up the facade to avoid the topic.

The fog faded, and the lights suddenly felt too bright. Most of the class had already moved on, chatting, whispering, laughing a little all except the ones that mattered.

Tokoyami was still watching me. Asui too. Shoji sat still, but not relaxed. And Koda hadn't moved an inch.

I walked back to my seat without another word.

Whatever they saw, or felt, they weren't going to forget it.

And they weren't supposed to.

The moments everyone turned around though, I slump in my seat.

Well, that really did take its toll on me, I just hope it was flashy enough for me not to be seen as the underdog…
