Once every injury had been attended to, it was time to leave. The excitement could not be contained only here, after all.
And within hours, everyone was heading back, every supply gathered as they began moving.
They were tired.
They were injured.
They were covered in blood and snow.
But they were going home.

Back at the Nightshade Pack compound, Mary and Kairen were helping some of the other pack members clear the bodies of the beasts that had managed to enter the compound.
Thankfully, there hadn't been many.
The beasts that had managed to get through were small, and the warriors had dealt with them quickly.
No one had been seriously injured.
Mary was dragging the body of a Virelop when a horn suddenly sounded.
She froze.
Kairen looked up too, then he turned to Mary just as the horn sounded again.
"What's g..." He didn't get to finish his question before Mary dropped the body and started heading towards the direction of the gate.
