Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: You Deserve to Be a Crime Boss

Night fell, and the villa was brightly lit.

The bodies had long since been cleaned up, and Frank's injuries, after treatment, were no longer serious. He sat on the sofa, bandaged and expressionless, staring at the leather case on the coffee table.

An hour ago, he had quietly arranged for five million dollars and prohibited the newly assigned bodyguards from approaching the villa. As the head of a criminal organization, Frank naturally wouldn't let people know that his daughter was upstairs being used while he waited downstairs to hand over money.

However, the environment here was quiet, so even outside the villa, sounds from upstairs should have been audible; it was merely an act of self-deception.

The sounds gradually ceased, and after a while, Jack Kadere came downstairs from the second floor after showering, carrying a bag.

Frank, who had been expressionless, instantly put on a smile and enthusiastically welcomed Jack Kadere, almost asking, "Are you satisfied with my daughter?"

"Thank you for saving my life today; this is a small token of my appreciation." Frank pushed the case over, expressing his sincere gratitude.

Jack Kadere paused, then smiled and asked, "Are you sure you're giving it to me, and not me to you?"

"Of course," Frank nodded affirmatively.

"This is acceptable? No wonder you became a gang boss!" Jack Kadere clapped his hands in admiration.

"Since you're being so open, I'll be direct with you. I won't take Helena with me; I'll come when I need her. I'm not interested in protecting you every day, nor do you have the qualifications for it, so it's best to think clearly before troubling me again, understand?"

You can use me to ensure your survival and eliminate rivals to expand your power, but opportunities are limited, so you need to think carefully.

Frank had originally intended to do just that, so how could he not understand now that Jack Kadere had said it? Naturally, he nodded repeatedly in assurance.

He no longer cared who Jack Kadere was, nor did he care about sacrificing his daughter; his mind was filled with thoughts of which rival to start with, and which rival would maximize his profits.

Frank didn't care, and Jack Kadere cared even less. After all, the purpose of helping Frank was only to punish Helena; once Jack Kadere lost interest, everything Frank gained by using him would cease to exist, as even death row inmates get a good meal before they die.

Jack Kadere left in the car arranged by Frank, carrying the bag and the case.

…

Hearing the sound of a key in the door, Felicity, who had just showered, went to greet him.

"Wow," he said, eyes twinkling. "Did I just walk into a scene from Friends, or are you pulling a full Rachel Green on me?"

"You came back just as I finished showering, and besides, who would you bring over?" Felicity casually explained, looking curiously at the items he was carrying in both hands. "What are these?"

Jack Kadere handed them over casually and walked towards the bedroom, saying as he went, "The bag contains a suit for Laurel, and the items in the case are for you."

"For me?"

Felicity gleefully opened the box, eager to see what Jack Kadere had given her, but the moment she opened it, she shrieked, slammed it shut, and rushed into the bedroom like a whirlwind.

"You, where did you get so much money? Did you do something dan… dangerous again?"

"Don't worry, someone gave it to me," Jack Kadere said with a smile.

"Gave it to you? Who would give you so much money for no reason? How much… how much is here?" Felicity asked, stunned.

Jack Kadere thought for a moment and said, "I guess you could say I found a temporary job, and this is the payment. I don't really need money, and since you're my girlfriend, feel free to spend it all. I'm not sure how much there is, I didn't ask; you can check it yourself."

Hearing it was payment for work, Felicity relaxed and curiously started counting: five million, a full five million!

She had never seen so much money before.

Felicity really wanted to ask what kind of job paid five million, but after thinking about it, she decided not to. After all, her boyfriend wasn't an ordinary person; perhaps it was a bonus for some secret mission?

Felicity wasn't a gold-digger, but who wouldn't be happy if her boyfriend just gave her five million?

Jack had expected Felicity to take time off the next day to go shopping, buy bags, clothes, shoes, and so on, but when he asked, he found she had already planned everything out.

Felicity excitedly said, "Let's get a bigger, better house first. Climbing stairs every day is tiring, and the space is too small. I've picked out a few very expensive pieces of equipment that can provide more help for you and Laurel in the future, and we can buy two cars too. The rest can be saved in case you have any urgent needs."

With Felicity having planned everything, what else could Jack Kadere say?

After Felicity left for work, Jack Kadere took the suit he had prepared for Laurel and planned to go to her new home, but just as he was about to leave, he heard a knock at the door.

Did Felicity forget something?

Jack Kadere casually opened the door and saw a tall woman in a black dress and stockings smiling faintly.

"I've had such a hard time finding you."

"Selina Kyle?"

Jack Kadere looked at Catwoman in surprise, then suddenly realized why she was here.
