Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Copying the Power of a Taser?

# Chapter 26: Copying the Power of a Taser?

The creaking of the bed frame gradually subsided amidst a crescendo of passion.

Felicity lay in Jack Kadere's arms, her eyes unfocused for a long while before they slowly sharpened and became lucid. She tidied her somewhat disheveled hair, rested her head on his shoulder, and said lazily, "Darling, you were amazing."

"You weren't bad either." Although he had considered the possibility of a breakup, her body, her performance, and the ongoing pleasure she exuded filled Jack Kadere with vigor.

After a short rest, he carried Felicity to the bathroom. The water rinsed their tired, languid bodies, and then they returned to the bedroom and fell asleep in each other's arms.

Appropriate exercise can improve sleep quality and also serve as a good distraction. At least the matter of Felicity wanting to give Jack Kadere a phone had been sidetracked.

The night passed until dawn.

After breakfast, Felicity went to work. Jack Kadere took his laptop to the living room, monitoring Laurel's situation while browsing the news online.

Gotham, Central City, Metropolis, and so on.

For several days, Laurel hadn't visited the Queen Industries factory, as if the previous incident was completely in the past. Her life was very regular—the same routine every day: she left home for school in the morning, went straight home after school, as disciplined as an elementary school student. Consequently, Jack Kadere's life also became regular these past few days. During the day, he surfed the internet and monitored Laurel's location. In the evening, Felicity would return, they would chat, watch TV, and then engage in intense activity before bed.

Felicity had been looking more and more radiant these days.

The bedroom carried traces of their routine—Felicity's work blouse draped over the chair, her skirt pooled somewhere near the door where it had been stepped out of. The laptop sat open on the nightstand, its screen dimmed but still active, the red dot marking Laurel's location stationary as it had been for days.

Neither of them paid it any attention.

Jack Kadere pressed Felicity into the mattress, her back arching as she pulled him closer by the shoulders. Her glasses had been set aside earlier, leaving her face soft and unguarded, blonde hair fanning across the pillow in disarray. She hooked one leg around his hip, urging him deeper, and the bed frame answered with its familiar creak.

"Mmh—right there," she breathed, nails dragging down his back.

He obliged, rolling his hips with deliberate slowness. Felicity's head tipped back, exposing the column of her throat. He pressed his mouth there, tasting salt and the faint sweetness of her bodywash, and felt her pulse flutter against his lips. She was warm everywhere—slick and tight around him, thighs trembling each time he bottomed out.

"God, you feel good," she managed, voice hitching.

Jack Kadere didn't answer, just shifted his angle and watched her mouth fall open. Her fingers clutched at the sheets, then at him, restless and needy. The headboard knocked against the wall in steady rhythm as he picked up the pace, drawing out those soft, breathless sounds she made when she was getting close.

Felicity's eyes had gone hazy, half-lidded and unfocused. Her chest heaved, nipples flushed and peaked, and she clenched around him in a way that made his jaw tighten. He gripped her hip with one hand, thumb pressing into the soft give of her flesh, and drove into her harder.

"Ah—ahhnn—"

Her back bowed off the bed. He could feel her fluttering around him, right on the edge, and he—

"It moved, it moved!"

Felicity's eyes snapped wide open, suddenly sharp and alert, her gaze fixed somewhere past his shoulder.

Jack Kadere stilled mid-thrust. "Haven't I been moving all along?"

"I mean Laurel's location moved!" Felicity twisted beneath him, reaching toward the nightstand. On the laptop screen, the red dot was indeed in motion—no longer fixed at Laurel's home.

"She's leaving home so late—could she be coming to find you?" Felicity looked at Jack Kadere excitedly.

Jack Kadere glanced at her, then withdrew his gaze. Although he was happy that Laurel was finally taking action, he still needed to focus on the current matter. Felicity soon had no time to think of anything else.

The bright moonlight illuminated the earth.

On the streets of the slum, there were almost no pedestrians, only a few homeless people occasionally seen in corners. In front of the Queen Industries factory, Laurel—dressed in sportswear and carrying a bag—looked around a few times, took a deep breath, then stepped back, sprinted, and leaped high to grab the iron gate. The over two-meter-high gate made it difficult for her, and it took her a while to climb over.

After landing, Laurel opened her bag and took out two items.

A flashlight and a taser.

The abandoned factory was dark and empty, making the flashlight's beam exceptionally bright. Following her memory, Laurel quickly arrived at the place where she had been kidnapped last time.

The bent steel bars were still on the ground, and her voice echoed in the quiet space.

"Is anyone there? I'm here."

"Jack Kadere, are you there?"

Laurel cautiously whispered, but received no response. Was he not here?

A gust of warm breath suddenly blew on her neck. Laurel instinctively shivered, turned around, activated the taser, and thrust it behind her.

Crackle.

The taser emitted a faint electric light and sound. Laurel felt her wrist tighten instantly as it was grabbed. She shone the flashlight and was startled to find Jack Kadere standing in front of her, holding the wrist that gripped the taser.

Jack Kadere smiled as he looked at the taser in her hand. He slightly tightened his grip, and Laurel let out a muffled groan as the taser slipped from her hand and fell to the ground.

Clatter.

The sound of it hitting the ground was clear. Laurel instinctively shivered, then noticed that Jack Kadere's hand—the one holding her wrist—was glowing with an eerie blue light. Just like the electric light from the taser. Crackling sounds filled the air, and Laurel instantly felt an electric current flow from his hand, making her whole body tremble.

She stared at Jack Kadere with wide, disbelieving eyes, then was directly electrocuted into unconsciousness. Her body twitched slightly after falling to the ground.

Ignoring the fallen Laurel, Jack Kadere looked down at his hands. Electricity flowed through his fingertips, growing thicker and brighter as he stacked its power, eventually spreading throughout his entire body. The air crackled, and a dazzling azure light illuminated the surroundings. At this moment, Jack Kadere was like a Thunder God descending—majestic and irresistible.

Although Jack Kadere knew that Protégé's ability could indeed Copy the power of matter, he had never had a chance to try it. Previous copies were passively received; whatever was copied, that's what it was. Just now, upon seeing the taser, he had a sudden idea to try and see if he could Copy its power. The result was very smooth.

Although the power of this self-defense taser was not strong, for Jack Kadere, the initial strength of the power was not important—because he could Infinite Superposition the power. Even if it was just the small current of a taser, he could stack it to a level capable of destroying the world.
